"Oh my God!" Hearing that Clark had not controlled the volume of his order, the most raucous dark-eyed man immediately burst out with a mocking laugh: "They actually think they can resist, I've never heard of such a ridiculous joke..."
He had only gotten halfway through his sentence when it was abruptly cut off, forever unable to finish it. Because...
As he was laughing brazenly and without restraint, Daisy had already activated her super speed, rushing to his front with a terrifying velocity that surpassed the limits of his visual capture. At the same time, she threw a hook punch right into his abdomen.
This punch was silent, but the dark-eyed man's smile was forever frozen on his face.
There was no bloody spectacle, no explosion into a pulp, and even no bloodshed that one might imagine. Because under Daisy's punch, his entire body was shattered at the molecular level by the extreme vibrational force!
In the next moment, the entirety of the dark-eyed man, including his clothes and gear, turned into a grayish-white color, and was blown away by the punch wind, turning into a pile of ashes!
Instant kill!
As a fellow member of the Eternal Race, the manner of death for those Daisy killed was comparable to Thanos's methods. An ordinary punch, yet she executed it with the dramatic flair of Thanos's snap!
Seeing this horrifying scene, those who had earlier declared their stance immediately became wary, each instinctively tightening their grip on their weapons.
But it was to no avail!
Under Daisy's super speed, they didn't even manage to make the most basic defensive move before they were each killed instantly, turning to sand upon hitting the ground.
It took less than five seconds in total for Daisy to finish off all the combatants, and with a flash, she returned to Clark's side, her expression as calm as if she had never moved.
Of the hundred or so people with Yondu, including Krillin, now only seven remained, truly a case of barely one in ten surviving!
Stepping forward with a smile, Clark said to Yondu, "Those guys were selfish and unruly, keeping them around was a disaster waiting to happen. I did you a favor by killing them, you should be thanking me."
Received +999 reputation points from Yondu Udonta!
Received +999 reputation points from Krillin!
Killing so many of us, yet you expect us to thank you?
I've never seen such shamelessness before!
Of course, these were just the thoughts Yondu dared to think in his mind, his first words after regaining his ability to move were: "Thank you, Your Highness!"
Only then did the few survivors around Yondu truly understand what kind of person this harmless-looking young man was!
Remembering their companion who died a horrible death because of his loose lips, each of their faces showed a look of fear. Each one of these guys, including Yondu, was not really a good person; they were just somewhat disgusted by such matters and didn't want to get involved themselves.
It was precisely because of this that they were lucky enough to survive.
Is Yondu powerful?
His whistle arrow was indeed an unchallengeable force for those who followed him, but it's all relative to who you compare him with! If he was really as powerful as he thought, he would have become a ruler like Thanos long ago, not still leading a band of mercenaries scrambling for a living.
If anyone deserved to be called powerful, it was the man before them!
Listing all known powerful beings in the universe and calling them out for a fight was a type of bravado they had never heard of before.
Even the Champion, known among the Elders of the Universe for his combat madness, wouldn't dare to do such a thing!
But here was someone who had not only done so but also had the universe bowing before him. These marauders were clearly not the kind to provoke such a man.
And to think they still coveted his woman...
It must be said, the dark-eyed man really had a knack for courting death.
Facing such a sensible Yondu, Clark nodded in satisfaction and then waved him over: "We were just discussing something about Ego, and you've arrived just in time. Come over and join the conversation."
As for Clark's invitation, Yondu dared not refuse, so he had to act as if nothing had happened, bringing his men together. And Clark continued the topic: "A being that uses avatars to spread his seed across the universe, then hires people like Yondu to bring back those children. If the child inherits divine powers, he would cultivate them carefully; if not, he would kill them without hesitation."
"The bones of his children are piled like mountains on some part of Ego's planet!"
Clark's gaze fell on Yondu, "As a participant in these events, you must know moreright?"
"Very sorry, Your Highness," Yondu replied cautiously to Clark, "Indeed, as you say, but I fear my knowledge is far less detailed than yours. According to the Ravagers' strict code, trafficking in persons is absolutely forbidden. I took on that task because I was unaware of the details. After hearing about the fate of those children, I decided not to hand Quill over to him as agreed."
He sighed with a hint of helplessness, "Even so, facing a being like Ego, I was taking a huge risk. How could I dare to delve further into the truth?"
With Yondu's confirmation, Rocket Raccoon started to become restless, although he didn't have much trust in Yondu either. Comparing his words with what Clark had said earlier, however, he found he couldn't find any discrepancies.
Could it be that what they said was true?
Clark continued, "If he found a child with divine powers, he would join forces with that child to devour many life-bearing planets in the universe to enhance his own divine power and lifespan."
Hearing this, Rocket Raccoon finally couldn't stay seated: "Quill doesn't have divine powers, and even if he did, he wouldn't agree to Ego's demands."
"You might be surprised, but Peter Quill actually did inherit Ego's bloodline; it's just been dormant," Clark paused briefly before adding, "As for whether he would agree to Ego's demands, do you think he has the strength to refuse?"
Rocket looked puzzled at Clark, "So you're saying, you came here to rescue them?"
"Of course not," Clark, although aware of how unfairly Star-Lord was blamed in many tales, still held no fondness for the man who often did more harm than good: "Though he and I both hail from Earth, there are five billion people on Earth, and I'm not inclined to go to such lengths for someone I have no connection with."
"The planets that Ego wants to devour include Earth, and that's my home planet, something I absolutely won't allow!"
Upon hearing this, Rocket immediately retorted, "What are you planning to do?"
"The seeds left by Ego are extremely well-hidden, and even I would find it difficult to locate them on such a large planet," Clark's smile slowly took on a chilling quality, "But luckily, the seeds left by Ego also need his divine power to activate them into a force powerful enough to devour a planet."
"So, as long as we kill him, the threat to Earth will naturally be resolved."
"And what about Quill?" Rocket Raccoon finally voiced the question he was most concerned about, "As you said, Quill also possesses Ego's divine power, are you planning to kill him after killing Ego?"
Clark shook his head gently, "Peter Quill's divine power comes from Ego. As long as Ego dies, your friend will revert to being an ordinary human, just like before. Moreover, although he's not particularly likable, he respects his mother greatly, and even if he had that power, he wouldn't consume the Earth where his mother's grave lies."
As Clark and Rocket Raccoon conversed, all the details of the situation were clarified, and it was only then that Yondu finally spoke up, "Your Highness, what would you like us to do?"
With Clark's stature, if he was discussing so much with them, it clearly meant he needed their help.
Yondu and Rocket Raccoon, both names with a bit of renown in the vast universe, certainly understood the principle of respecting the wise and seeking help.
Clark stated plainly, "I need you to take me to Ego's planet. Peter Quill must have left you the coordinates before he left, right?"
"Sure!"
Rocket nodded, agreeing, and without waiting for Clark to ask, Yondu quickly offered, "I'll come along too."
"I am Groot!"
With unanimous agreement,
Clark glanced at the towering, two-meter-tall Groot, finding him less interesting. Since this version of Groot hadn't sacrificed himself like in the movies, there was no adorable Baby Groot.
And compared to the larger one, Clark still found the smaller creature more endearing.
"However, we probably can't depart until tonight," Rocket Raccoon suddenly interjected with an objection, "Because our ship was damaged in the recent battle with the Sovereign fleet, it won't be repaired until later tonight."
"If it's a matter of the ship, then you don't have to worry, because I have a ready-made one here." As he spoke, Clark flipped his wrist, and a model spaceship the size of a matchbox appeared in his palm.
It was the Heart One!
