Chapter 61: A Breakthrough Beneath the Stars

Another day had come.

David and Reina walked hand in hand along a quiet path.

Moonlight poured over them, casting a dreamlike glow.

Moments earlier, they had reaffirmed their commitment to facing their enemies together. No matter who or what stood against them—be it the Second Prince threatening Frost Wolf Ridge or the Ice Crown Duke vying for control of the Crystal Song Kingdom—they vowed to overcome every obstacle as a team.

For Reina, this moment felt utterly fulfilling. Holding onto David's arm, she leaned against him, her heart filled with peace and joy.

David glanced at her content expression, and a thought stirred in his mind. Based on his past experiences, this would be the perfect time to make a bold request—one Reina would likely agree to, no matter how audacious.

"Reina, do you want to grow stronger?" David asked softly.

Reina paused, then nodded earnestly. Of course, she wanted to become stronger.

"I can help you," David said, stepping closer and lowering his voice. "The same way I've helped before."

Reina froze.

Her gaze shifted toward a nearby grove of trees, and she suddenly recalled a certain day when Lia had broken through to the second tier of knighthood. On that day, David had said something that now echoed in her mind.

A blush crept up her face.

David glanced at the darkening sky and smiled mischievously. "The stars are beautiful tonight. Shall we go to the rooftop and admire them together?"

"Y-yes," Reina stammered, her cheeks flushing. She had no idea why she agreed so readily.

Pleased with her response, David scooped Reina into his arms and bounded toward the castle. With a few agile leaps, they reached the rooftop, where the night sky stretched endlessly above them.

The stars were indeed breathtaking tonight, even calming David's restless thoughts for a moment.

"So beautiful," Reina murmured, captivated by the view.

David wrapped his arms around her from behind. "Do you like it?"

"Mm-hmm."

"Thank you," Reina whispered, her tone sincere.

"For what?" David asked, leaning closer.

"For giving me a home," Reina replied, her expression earnest. She truly felt that this was her home now, a place where she belonged.

"Then we have to keep working hard," David said as his hands moved lower, resting on her waist.

Reina blushed but didn't resist.

She had expected this; the man behind her was never one to simply stargaze peacefully. But she had already steeled herself for what was to come.

Her mind flashed back to when she had scoffed at Lia for indulging David. Back then, Reina had vowed she would never agree to anything so outrageous.

Yet here she was, willingly letting David take the lead.

David, encouraged by her silent approval, wasted no time.

The rooftop garden became their private sanctuary.

By dawn, the two of them still lay entwined on the rooftop.

The morning light painted the sky with hues of red and orange as the sun rose over the mountains.

"Good morning, my princess," David murmured.

"Good morning, my lord," Reina replied, smiling as their eyes met.

They felt closer than ever before. They had crossed a threshold, leaving nothing hidden from each other.

"Shall we go again?" David teased.

"W-what? It's morning!" Reina stammered, her face reddening. "L-let's head back to the room instead."

"Alright," David agreed with a grin, carrying her back to their quarters.

Back in their room, they indulged in one last embrace before finally settling down.

The results of their time together far exceeded David's expectations. He had anticipated needing several days of effort to break through with his Snow Elf Soul, but last night's connection had propelled him forward instantly.

Reina, too, had clearly benefited. By their final session, she had even experienced what felt like a merging of their souls.

It was evident that the enhanced Snow Elf Soul had granted Reina a trace of spiritual power, allowing her to begin practicing the more advanced aspects of the Snow Elf Breathing Technique.

"My lord, I think I've advanced again," Reina said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

David chuckled. "Congratulations, Reina."

Her gaze sharpened slightly. He was too calm, almost as if he had expected this outcome.

That unspoken confirmation stirred a realization within Reina. David's promise to help her grow stronger hadn't been a casual remark—it was the truth. She could feel the changes in her body and the accelerated pace of her training.

Instead of voicing her thoughts, she rested her head against his chest, feeling reassured.

"I want more…" she whispered.

After lingering a while longer, David finally opened the door. Outside, Fire Dance stood patiently with fresh linens in her arms.

"My lord," she greeted with a composed expression, though a faint blush colored her ears.

David nodded. "Thank you for your hard work."

He led Reina to the dining hall, where Lia and Amy were already seated. Both women had flushed cheeks and avoided meeting David's gaze.

Unbeknownst to him, their activities on the rooftop the previous night had been thoroughly overheard.

Amy, in particular, struggled to reconcile her image of the lord with what

she had heard. She couldn't imagine herself agreeing to such shameless requests, no matter the circumstances!
