The Boss

"Fire Blitz."

The magic circle under them lit up, and a pillar of fire shot up in the sky.

A few seconds later, it subsided, and what remained was the burned-up body of the goblin general and the bones of goblin soldiers.

Nathen looked at that and wiped the sweat from his forehead. "Why the fuc* would an enemy who uses a melee weapon drop such a strong spell!?"

He was extremely jealous of such a strong move.

All of a sudden, Rose called him. "Nathen, come help."

He got out of his daze and went to support Rose.

That spell had consumed almost all of her mana, and for that, her body was very weak now. He held onto her before she fell down.

"Are you okay?" Nathen asked with concern.

"Yes." Rose nodded her head. "I need time to recover."

"But in the meantime, I hope you can hold on," Rose said as she looked up.

All the goblins in the huts came out and started walking toward them. It was led by the remaining goblin general.

However, that didn't catch Nathen and Rose's attention. It was who was following behind it.

It was a small, fat goblin in a tattered robe. It had a necklace on its neck that was made of an unknown beast's tooth. It had a husky staff in its hand.

Nathen and Rose were able to see its information after it came closer to them.

[ Goblin Hut's Elder (Level 13): The boss of this dungeon. It rules the goblin huts. It is also a well-known shaman. ]

Nathen's face turned stern after seeing that and feeling the energy emanating from it too.

He asked Rose. "What rank would it be if the level were converted to our cultivation rank?"

"Every two levels is equivalent to a rank. So, this guy is at Rank-7 Elementary Battle Warrior." Rose answered with fear in her voice.

Nathen went silent for a second then said."You quickly recover yourself. I will see what I can do."

Nathen called his needle back, and it flew into his hand. It was currently smoking and is now being burned by the fire, but it didn't take any damage. It also had no more blood in it.

He closed his and took a deep breath. 'Let's first kill the small ones first. It might get me to Rank-3.'

With that in mind, he sprinted toward them. The goblin elder raised its staff and yelled something gibberish. After its yell, all the goblin soldiers charged forward, and behind them followed the goblin general.

The goblin elder chanted something, and all the goblins' bodies glowed in red.

Nathen saw that they were moving faster now. He pondered. 'Is it only a speed buff or overall?'

He came to the first one and killed it by extending his needle. So it wasn't able to land a hit.

[ You have killed goblin soldier x1. You have gained 9 exp ]

[ You have killed goblin soldier x2. You have gained 18 exp ]

[ You have killed goblin soldier x1. You have gained 9 exp ]

[ You have killed goblin soldier x6. You have gained 54 exp ]

Nathen danced around the goblin soldiers as he killed them effortlessly.

[ You have broken through to Rank-3 Elementary Battle Warrior. ]

"Finally." Nathen felt his body get much stronger. He felt another thing, and that was inside his soul. He felt something seem to be coming out from his soul.

However, he buried it deep in his mind as he had something more important to do. He had to dodge the sweep that the goblin general did with its club.

Unlike the previous ones, this attack was much stronger and faster.

'This is an overall buff.' Nathen finally knew his answer. He jumped up to avoid the attack.

The sweep had the grass and soil peeled open from the ground. It also blasted a strong wind that uprooted the tress, almost.

Rose covered her eyes with her elbows, and she thought. 'What is this power!?'

Nathen landed on the ground when suddenly a white magic circle lit up under his feet. 'What the-!?'

His eyes shot open as he felt his power being drained away.

Rose immediately answered his doubt. "Nathen, the boss is a shaman! He has put a curse on you! Stop thinking about it, just think of killing them."

Nathen obediently took her advice and jumped toward the goblin general. The goblin general raised its club up and smashed it down at Nathen.

Nathen hit his needle against the club, changing his trajectory in mid-air.

The club landed on the ground.

Boom!

An explosion resulted from that. Nathen took this as his chance and thursted his needle at its eyes.

Puchi!

The needle penetrated its head, killing it instantly.

He was about to go to the boss But his survival instinct kicked in all of a sudden. He quickly dodged to right.

Bang!

The goblin general's fist landed on the ground, making a small pit.

His eyes widened in shock as to how this one could still be alive.

[ Goblin Hut's General(Level-9) - (Spirit possessed) Its body is currently controlled by an evil spirit. It will take one minute before the evil spirit leaves its body. ]

"You got to be joking with me." Nathen wanted to curse badly after seeing the information. This meant it was currently unkillable.

He jumped around and started to think of a way to kill this guy. Meanwhile, he was keeping an eye on the boss from time to time. But when he suddenly looked in Rose's direction, he saw she was being chased around.

He let the goblin general chase him, and he was behind the goblin soldiers. He killed them along the way and diverted all of the attention to him.

The goblin elder seemed to see Nathen as the main issue, then Rose, so it chanted another spell.

Nathen halted his steps, and Rose did too. They saw all the goblin soldiers commit suicide, and the goblin general stood there silently.

All the blood flew out of the goblin soldier's body and entered the goblin general's body.

Slowly its level also started to rise up.

And it stopped at that.

Rose said with a daze."Nathen, I believe in you. You can hold on for thirty seconds, right?"

"ARHHHH!"
