Aki
[Hey where are you?] Primo asked in the other line.
"Wait, almost there." I said while waiting for the traffic light to turn green.
I overslept since I forgot to turn on my alarm.
[The trial will start after 20 minutes Aki, faster please I'm nervous.] Primo said.
I chuckled a little bit and tighten my grip.
After I parked my car I went inside the room where Primo, Jin, and Maxen are.
"Thank God you're here." Primo let out a heavy sigh and hugged me.
Uh? Primo? I felt cringe and awkward because he never did this to me.
"O-Oh I'm sorry," He said when he went to his conscience.
I looked at Jin and Maxen who's looking at us now. I let out a small smile before I sat in a couch.
"Are we ready?" Jin asked us. I simply nodded and looked at Maxen who's now looking at the floor. She is wearing a brown jumper dress while her hair is tied with a white ribbon.
Maxen held my hands as we four got out of the room.
We went inside of the trial court and Jin and I sat at the back while Primo sat at the defense area and Maxen's on the dock.
We did the first thing to do before the trial which is sing the National Anthem and do the pleadings.
"Good morning, I am Prosecutor Eiwel Mateo Degavo, and I am the prosecutor in this case. On May 20, 2023, the defendant in this case murdered her parents in their mansion." Eiwel started as he stood up and went in front confidently. He's wearing a white dress shirt with a collared tie beneath his gray tailored suit.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, this case is about a person who is mentally ill and she didn't know what she was doing that night." Primo said as he stood up and wore his dark aura. He's wearing a white long-sleeved with a tie with his navy blue tailored suit.
There's a murmuring already. My head ache while looking at Primo. Why do he need to say it so early? I mean, he should have said it when the judge asked for evidence.
God, I don't get him.
"Calm down, Aki." Jin gently held my hand and whispered those words. She must felt that I'm anxious.
"Ladies and gentlemen the prosecution will call three witnesses to the stand. We will call Mrs. Gwendy Atienza, their neighbor who saw the shadow who stabbed the victims. Mrs. Mariel Hizola, Mr. Sanchez's sister and the suspect's aunt. She witnessed a huge conflict between Mr. Sanchez and Maxen. Lastly, we will call Mr. Mauve Blive Sanchez, the son of Mr. Sanchez who's in the same room that night and witnessed the death of his parents."
What the heck?!
Even Mauve?! I thought he's in school?! Why do they need to meddle the kid? He can't even talk for pete's sake.
"At the conclusion of the case we would ask you to find the defendant guilty, thank you." Eiwel said before he sat down.
I know that he's just doing his job but he's pissing me off. I haven't had a chance to talk with him about all of this. It's messed up, he misunderstood things.
But what if I told him everything, will he drop the case? Will he help us to drop the case?
"Good morning, my name is Primo Louise David and it is my pleasure to represent on this very important case. The defendant falsely accused of patricide, a very serious crime. At the conclusion of the case we will ask for a verdict of not guilty." Primo said.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, the prosecution has indicated that my client's fingerprints were found on the crime scene. However, there is an explanation for this. The defendant's not on the right mind because of her mental illnes so out of her mind she stabbed her parents to protect her brother." Primo added. The crowd murmurs and whispers things again.
I saw Eiwel smirked as he's looking at Primo blankly.
"Why did Primo admitted it?" I whispered at Jin.
"Admitted what?" Jin whispered back.
"That Maxen stabbed her parents!" I slightly shouted at her but Jin covered my mouth.
"Oh shoot!" She removed her hands on my mouth when she realized.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the defense will call one witness to the stand. Dr. Psyche Vinley Korg who will testify that my client is mentally ill."
"At the conclusion of the case we would ask you to find that my client is innocent. The state has not met its burden of prood, and we would ask for a verdict of not guilty. Thank you." Primo lastly said.
Prosecutor Eiwel Mateo Degavo stood up.
It's time.
