I’m the weakest

There was a silence that came from the system after I said this.

With how silent it was, it almost seemed like it was playing dead.

But before I could speak up again, the system suddenly said, "Danger has been detected to the host. The system's defense system will be activated now."

I couldn't help letting out an internal sigh of relief when I heard this.

Even though I had seen that the system had this defense system when I was looking at the interface earlier, I wasn't certain that the system would activate it since I didn't know what the conditions were.

If it didn't activate, the only thing that I could have done was put myself in even more danger until it did.

So it was a good thing that the defense system activated in the end that I didn't need to do that.

There was another silence before the system said, "Based on the danger of the situation, an appropriate guardian has been chosen. The guardian will now be summoned to protect the host."

At this, there was a boom that suddenly came from the sky.

When the rough looking men heard this, they all looked up to see that there was a person in golden armour falling down to where they were.

This was a handsome middle aged man with gray hair who was even more muscular than them.

This handsome middle aged man fell down and landed right in front of me.

Completely ignoring the group of rough looking men that were there, he bowed right to me and said, "Golden Guard Member 10534, reporting for duty. My lord, please don't worry, I will take care of all of this."

There was only silence that followed after he said this since not a single one of us had expected this to happen.

But I was the one that reacted first as I said with a nod, "Un, take care of them."

That handsome middle aged man gave another bow and cupped his hands as he said, "Yes, my lord."

Right after that, he turned to look at the rough looking men and his expression completely changed. It went from a look of complete respect to a look of complete disdain.

After spitting on the ground, he said, "You pieces of trash, who do you think you are to even try to lay a hand on our lord?"

The rough looking men had been in a daze after seeing this handsome middle aged man appear out of nowhere, but when he challenged them like this, they couldn't help flaring up.

All of them raised their weapons as they shouted out threats at the handsome middle aged man.

"Who do you think you are to call us pieces of trash?" 

"You think you can scare anyone just by wearing a fancy set of golden armour?"

"Watch our blades!"

Though they said this, the leader of the rough looking men just raised his hand to stop them before carefully looking at the handsome middle aged man. He was thinking more rationally than his men.

After all, anyone that could suddenly fall from the sky like this would no doubt be a very special person.

There was no way that he would be a normal person when he could fall from the sky like this.

So the leader said, "This friend, may I ask who you are and what you came here for?"

The handsome middle aged man looked at the leader and said, "You are not worthy to know this."

Then he casually said as if he was taking a stroll, "I don't want to harm the lord's eyes, so I'll give you a quick and painless death."

With a simple wave of his hand that was like he was swatting a fly, the rough looking men suddenly started to fade away.

They didn't suddenly turn into a blood mist like in those cultivation novels, but rather they were turning into dust.

They just looked at their hands as they disappeared into nothingness, not understanding what had just happened.

When it was all over, they had disappeared without a single trace.

I was completely silent, but I really couldn't help thinking, "Just what kind of monster did the system send to me? Just how strong is this system that they gave me?"

"It's good that the host knows that the system is powerful."

I couldn't help revealing a bitter smile when I heard this.

It was Lin Li Zi who broke the silence by peeking her head out and saying, "Uncle, what did you do just now?"

The handsome middle aged man narrowed his eyes to look at Lin Li Zi before saying, "Who is this little girl?"

There was a tinge of unhappiness that appeared in my heart when I heard this, so I said, "She is my little sister."

The handsome middle aged man revealed a surprised look before quickly falling to one knee in front of us and cupping his hands to say, "Mistress, I'm sorry for my rudeness. Please forgive me."

Lin Li Zi was surprised by this, but then she quickly came forward to help the handsome middle aged man up before saying, "Uncle, don't be like that. Thank you for saving us. I really don't know what would have happened if you didn't help us."

The handsome middle aged man bowed his head again before saying, "It is my job to protect the lord and those important to him. There's no need to thank me for this."

Lin Li Zi looked at the handsome middle aged man with a strange look before suddenly saying, "Um, uncle, can you tell me what your name is? I don't think we've been introduced."

The handsome middle aged man revealed a bitter smile before saying, "I have no name. I am not qualified to be named as one of the Golden Guards."

Both Lin Li Zi and I couldn't help being surprised when we heard this.

He was this powerful and he wasn't qualified to be named…

Just how strong were the others then?

Lin Li Zi was the one who said, "How could that be? You're so strong."

The bitter smile on the handsome middle aged man's face became even more bitter as he said, "I'm the weakest among the Golden Guards."

"Huh?" The two of us said with looks of amazement after hearing this.

But we didn't get a chance to ask anything else as a golden light appeared around the handsome middle aged man. Before we could react, the handsome middle aged man disappeared with that golden light.

We were left standing there alone.
