Chapter 157: Jax: Portal Jumping

After getting the cheap, throwaway cell phone open and set up, I dialed Macaih's number from memory - something my father had drilled into me and Trent so that we'd always have a means to get in touch with someone should we ever need help. I also knew Sean's, Trent's, and Chloe's numbers by heart.

"I'm not interested," Macaih said by way of greeting.

"Macaih, wait," I said before he could end the call. "It's me. Jax."

There was a long pause, and I momentarily wondered if Macaih had hung up on me. But then he cleared his throat, and I let out a relieved breath.

"Well, that was quite the party last night, wasn't it?" he said, his proper, well-spoken words ringing through loud and clear. "I hear you're a very wanted vampire."

"That's putting it mildly," I said, raking my fingers through my hair. "I don't have a lot of time, but I was hoping you could get a message to my dad and brothers."
