"Have you taken it yet?" J'Zaki decided to ask the most obvious question.
In response, Shuri attacked J'Zaki by shooting a sword made out of flames at him. The prince was able to block it with a barrier of water before Shuri jumped over the desk and started to attack J'Zaki with a blue aura surrounding her. The lab quickly turned into a mess from their battle.
At first, he didn't understand what was happening but then he started putting the pieces together. Each fighting move that Shuri was using was one of his from his large collection of styles. The blue aura around her was chi. The first spell she used was also one of the spells he learned from Ingcuka.
"You are able to steal the skills and knowledge of other people." J'Zaki guessed the answer.
"Almost correct. It is a subconscious, uncontrolled, form of limited telepathy, allowing temporary mimicry of skills and knowledge from nearby targets. I can acquire mental and physical abilities, be it knowledge of a subject, a foreign language, or mastery of a fighting style. However, I am unable to retain that knowledge. When the person leaves my immediate proximity, I no longer retain information."
Ororo and J'Zaki were shocked. Although it could be said this might have been a weaker version of J'Zaki's power since it was temporary but she was not only able to copy physical skills like him but also gained knowledge. Just having this power, meant that Shuri would always be the smartest person in the room. It also meant that if she was given the heart-shaped herb, no 'normal' fighter could be her match.
Ororo was the first to rush over and stroke Shuri's hair while congratulating her.
"Excellent, Little Sister. It seems you might have earned yourself a spot on the team."
Shuri's power would definitely be useful for the challenge. With the help of the herb, she could take on the likes of Achilles or the other 'weaker' Greek heroes around his level with the help of Wakandan technology.
"Thank you, Sister," Shuri accepted the praise with a huge smile on her face. She was so happy to not only have a mutation but also one that would be useful. After going through all of Xavier's files, she found out that there were several classifications to mutations.
At the top were the Omega-Level mutants. These were the ones with seemingly limitless powers. Ororo was someone that had a chance of classifying as this if her power were truly as powerful as Shuri and J'Zaki had predicted.
Below Omega were Alpha-Level mutants. These were mutants that had useful abilities that were not detrimental and that could usually be controlled. Shuri and J'Zaki fell into this category.
The next was Beta-Class mutants. These mutants were similar to Alpha but their powers were noticeably weaker.
Then lower of the ladder was Epsilon-Class. Their powers were usually in the range of Betas and Alphas but they lacked all of the control that either had, making them inferior to both. Even if a person could fire off beams that can destroy steel, it was useless if they couldn't control when they fired it.
At the very bottom were the Gamma-Class mutants. Gammas mainly had physical defects or changes that offered them no special abilities. This would be like a mutant that had simply turned blue and could do nothing after that.
Shuri was afraid that she would fall into the last two categories in regard to her powers but with the confirmation of Ororo, she was sure that she had to be an Alpha-Class.
"Now that you both have seen what I can do and that the serum works, you both need to do your job. Bring in the others and I can give them their mutations."
"Got it. I'll go get the Jabari woman. Ororo, grab the kid. We can talk about T'Challa if one of these two doesn't work out."
Shuri and Ororo shared a smile when they saw J'Zaki avoiding having to talk to T'Challa. It had been three months with neither of the brothers saying a word to the other. Both of the young women didn't even think it was anything major, just two guys with pride that reached the heavens.
The prince saw their looks but pretended like he didn't when he grabbed one of the weaker Cerebro sunglasses. A golden light appeared around both of his legs before J'Zaki started sprinting out of the city and up the mountain. He was able to finish the hour-long journey in only 15 minutes.
When he got up there, J'Zaki looked around and saw that the woman was in the cavern group instead of the fort group. It looked like she worked with the kitchen staff that fed the children whose parents lived in the fort without them.
He walked in and went to the throne room instead of going directly to her. Seeing J'Zaki arrive, M'Baku smiled at the young prince. Each time he saw him, the prince would bring another surprise that would make him smile for a week.
"Boy. What can I do for you today?"
"Can you call the kitchen staff for the orphanage? There is someone among them that is a potential Khethiwe and I have a way to make their powers activate."
"Oh?" This definitely piqued M'Baku's interest. He knew that J'Zaki was searching for powerful people that could join him in his battle in a couple of years. If his tribe provided a Khethiwe, that meant that he could request another favor from the future king but also he would have provided one of the warriors that helped defend Wakanda, another great honor for the Jabari.
M'Baku called the people there and they stood in a line in front of the pair. Of the group, 7 out of the 10 were women. But J'Zaki's eyes were focused on the woman that was the second from the left. She was glowing blue under Cerebro's gaze.
