As they approached the boss room, Edward stopped the group to make sure everybody was at full HP and MP. He didn't want any accidents to happen while they were fighting the boss— especially against one as fast as a giant Velociraptor. Luckily, they hadn't fought against any enemies on their way to the door, so their stats were all good.
As Markus pushed open the boss room, the group slowly made their way inside. Edward and the others couldn't see anything through the thin veil of darkness blocking out the rest of the room. Just like last time, the darkness didn't clear until the door was closed. Once it did so, Edward looked around.
The boss room was a replica of the one above. It was a round room with a massive bottomless moat on the edges. Edward looked forward to the boss monster and found a giant skeleton velociraptor staring at him. Surrounding it were two smaller velociraptors, each staring at Edward's group with starved gazes.
"At least it doesn't have too many minions," Markus chuckled as he held up his weapon.

"Be careful! That boss will be able to move faster than all of us!" Edward reminded the group as he looked at the two underlings.

"Even the boss can't hurt me! Finally!" Markus celebrated. He stepped forward and lifted his arms. Then, he puffed his chest and unleashed a roar, "[Perfect Provokation]!"
A red glow shimmered around Markus's body, causing all three enemies before him— including the boss— to turn their attention from Edward to Markus. As their eyes turned from a low blue glow to a bright red shine, each of them screamed and rushed forward. The two smaller velociraptors moved at a speed that Edward and the others were used to.
The boss monster, however, was twice as fast. It reached Markus in seconds and attempted to chomp down on his neck. Markus didn't do anything, though, because his armor protected him from any damage these monsters could inflict on him.
As the boss monster chomped down on Markus's body, Edward and the others moved forward. The other two velociraptors hadn't reached the fight, yet, so Edward knew he had a second or two of freedom.
He and Leila pushed their palms forward, each summoning a gout of flames as wide as a school bus. These flames quickly consumed everything before them— save for Markus's body. Edward and Leila were extra careful to avoid him. The flames hit the boss monster and the room was illuminated in a red and orange glow. The boss monster was pushed into the air from the impact and let go of Markus in the process.
The flames didn't die down immediately, either. They encroached upon the giant velociraptor's body until every inch of the boss monster's body figure was covered in a red or orange fire. The attack had consumed almost all of its health in one go, nearly killing it in the process.
"This is absolutely broken!" Markus laughed as he put his hands on his hips. Ikarus rose into the air and flew forward. Before the boss monster could even hit the ground, Ikarus unleashed a dragon breath. The breath, much like the pair of fire attacks from a moment prior, quickly grew to the width and length of a school bus. The creature was consumed in this third round of flames and died instantly.
Its ashen body was scattered across the boss room, causing both of the following velociraptors to freeze in their tracks. There were only a few meters between Edward and the last two enemies, so he was able to clearly see their frightened expressions.
"Even dungeon monsters can feel fear, huh?" Leila laughed as two balls of fire appeared over her palms. She stepped forward and swung both her arms like a softball pitcher before launching her flames toward the enemies. All the while, a wicked grin flashed across her face and a hungry glint appeared in her eyes.
The two balls of flames attacked the same target— the velociraptor with 325 HP. The other velociraptor took a few steps back as its attention slowly shifted from Markus to Edward. The red shine in its eyes dimmed until a blue glow replaced it. Soon enough, Markus's skill was over. The velociraptor that Leila had attacked was easily killed, as it had taken a huge amount of damage.
Because Leila was able to take her time with the attack, she was able to strike the monster with two attacks at once. Her Damage stat was 145 at the moment, but because these monsters were weak to fire, her attacks were upgraded to 218 instead. With two attacks, Leila did a total of 436 Damage. This amount of Damage was easily enough to wipe the floor with the monster before her.
With one monster left, Edward took a deep breath and unleashed an empowered dragon breath. He made sure to hold it as much as he could, so he could get the maximum amount of damage. With his upgraded Origin as a Dragon, he was able to put in a lot of effort for his Dragon breath.
He used a total of 150 MP, which added 150 Damage. Adding 150 Damage to his usual 120 Damage, upgraded to 180 because the target was weak to fire damage, totaled to 330 damage. Needless to say, his attack used a large chunk of his MP but completely destroyed his target.
The boss battle was won and nobody had taken even a single point of damage.
Markus has finally been promoted to 'most important party member' thanks to his abilities, and thus made Brandon the only minor support role. I'm starting to feel bad for my bro.
