Chapter 22

I spent my days eating rocks to max out the「Knockback Resistance」 skill, but when I was bored of chewing stone, I was wondering around town, looking for clothes because I have been running out lately, my stash of spare clothes has run out because of my crude fighting style.

I had not heard any news about the thugs that attacked me, and the spies rarely showed up to observe me. one day I decided to buy some poisons, to try out their taste. I'v mostly heard that when you ingest poison, your mouth will feel numb thus you cant taste it, but I'm immune so I wanted to what they actually tasted like.

when I bought five different bottles of poisons, I returned to my room and decided to try them out. sadly most of them tasted bland, whilst some had grassy taste or had a slight salty or sour taste. none of them had any effect on me, meaning I could never enjoy the high life in this world.

few days after the Golem fight, I had recovered my strength and decided to take on an easy request. Thankfully I found the perfect one.

A nearby small village was in need of a blacksmith, thus they requested for a blacksmith to go to them and the adventurers guild would aide them with a guard foe their safety on the road. sadly the blacksmith was busy, but I qualify as a perfectly fine blacksmith thus I decided to sign up for both jobs and take double the payment.

The Guild accepted my suggestion and let me go alone. the road there was pretty quiet, and there were not many monsters around. when I got to the village, it was very small, but quite nice. when I arrived the village chief welcomed me, and told me that they needed me to craft some farming tools and possibly a few kitchen ware, they also provided me with a place to stay.

They showed me the village's previous blacksmith's place, it was pretty small and old, but mostly everything was still usable. they told me that their old blacksmith had died in the forest, and had no heir to take care of the place.

Because the village was pretty small the request would take me around a week or two to finish, which was acceptable.

But I could never escape trouble, about three days later, a grey goblin was seen kidnapping an unconscious man.

the whole village was in an uproar, and were about to send people to get adventurers from town, but me being a greedy man, told them that I was also an adventurer and showed the chief my card. the village chief was delighted and told me that they'll double my reward if i could get the man back alive, and if I could exterminate all of the goblins, my reward would be quadrupled.

The next day I was about to go hunting the goblins but some of the brave villagers wanted to come with me, to which I bluntly responded by telling them that "You will only slow me down."

[yes! I always wanted to say that, finally, a dream come true]

I ventured in the forest and spotted trails of blood leading to a dense part of the forest with multiple hills.

when I got there, I spotted a nest of grey Goblins. there were around four hundred of them, suddenly a horn was blown from somewhere inside the nest and at the noise all the Goblins turned to look my way.

I thought it was a coincidence, because I was using 「Shadow Step」and 「Shadow Manipulation」to cover myself in the shadows, but when I moved, the Goblins ugly heads followed.
