Meanwhile, Ian and Adela were hidden in the underground of the library, staying out of sight of Derek and Kabuto. They had emerged from the behind the wall after Derek and Kabuto had left, and now Adela was explaining to Ian the nature of the experiments conducted by the emperor.
"What is this place, Adela?" Ian inquired his voice inadvertently louder than intended.
Adela looked around to ensure no one was eavesdropping on their conversation, while Ian couldn't contain his curiosity.
"This is the emperor's secret room where he is doing his experiments with human and animals," Adela said.
He asked, "But why is the emperor conducting these experiments? What's the purpose behind all of this?"
Ian's voice rose in volume, prompting Adela to quickly place a finger on his lips to hush him. "Shut up, you fool. Why are you being so loud? They might hear us," she whispered urgently.
