Prologue 4: Entrance Exam

Inside a room filled with cadetes everyone irrespective of who they were, were sneaking glances at the two figures sitting on a seat, they were none other than Avery and Emma.

Avery was sitting silently while Emma was leaning her head on his shoulders seemingly drained of energy.

"You still cannot fully control you powers sister–that outburst was reckless and you didn't have to save that worthless girls life, you are infinitely more important than her–"

Emma placed her finger on Avery's lips as she pouted–hurt by her baby brother's rant but still she sat up straight before saying, "Although what I did was reckless, I won't deny that, but…..", looking into Avery's eye she continued, "I just imagined–what if that girl was you?"

Avery just tilted his head before opening his mouth, "No sister I am not a weakling!", He said in a matter of fact tone.

Black lines appeared on everyone's faces as they listened to his answer, the blue-haired girl in question was just clenching her fists as she looked down.

Emma was also a bit taken aback before she composed herself and sighed.

"So your names are Avery and Emma!"

Suddenly a voice came from behind as they both turned their heads to look at the source of the voice and–there stood a boy with brown hair and hazel eyes, it was the same boy who fought against Avery and the other's.

"Y-You! Why are y–"

But before anyone could even say anything the boy just raised both of his hands in the air declaring his surrender as he looked into Avery's eyes.

"I don't want any beef with the guy who also sent me to the afterlife."

The boy said in an almost joking tone as he looked at Emma.

"My name is Ren, Nice to meet you", Ren said with a dazzling smile.

Everyone except for Avery were stunned by the sudden change of deminoir, we'll who goes from being a blood thirsty wolf to an obedient puppy in such a short time, and the most affected were the blue haired girl and Emma, as they were the only victims to stand after getting their asses handed to them by this guy.

If not for Tranquilis an A-Ranked hero with healing powers the both of them would have also been on hospital beds.

"You guys are overreacting, it was a battle and so I fought with everything I had not underestimating my opponents and giving it my all", Ren said with a cheeky smile.

Avery who saw this only tilted his head as he opened his mouth, "Really, so is that really all you got, it's a bit disappointing", Avery shook his head as though he was lamenting.

Ren's smile froze as a small chuckle escaped Emma's mouth.

"Ya, tell him brother." 

"Wait! Wait! Wait! What? Are you really forgiving him? Just like this?"

Suddenly the blue haired girl who was silent all this while jumped up from her seat as he pointed in Ren's direction.

"Hmm, now who might you be?"

Ren asked innocently, Emma only shook her head as everyone was a bit shocked, 'is this guy for real'.

"She's the girl that you fought before me"

"Oh", Ren just hit his palm with his first as he fainn understanding, in reality he really didn't remember anything.

Reading his thoughts from his blank expression Emma once again sighed as she looked at the blue hair girl, "look I know that you might be angry but what he said is true, it was a battle and we had to give it our all, we were just weaker than him that's why we lost, while–", then she pointed at ren and with a cheeky smile she continued.

"While–this guy got his ass handed to him by my brother", she said with a proud look.

"And you–", the blue haired girl didn't relent as she pointed at Avery, "What kind of a hero are you, I heard you say that i was worthless and not important enough to save, what kind of hero days things like that" 

"Hmm, Were you born this stupid or did you take lessons? Why would I save someone like you, aren't you here to be a hero, if yes then stop acting like a victim."

Avery said with an apathetic expression.

"Hoo.."

Ren only gave an exaggerated response to Avery's words as he looked towards the blue-haired girl who had an expression of disbelief on her face.

"W-Wha—"

"Cadet 666, come in room no. 3"

Suddenly a voice interrupted their conversation as Avery stood up and started to make his way towards the said room.

Emma only cheered for him while Ren gave him a thumbs up, meanwhile the blue haired girl was standing there–her mouth agape, 'Did I just get ignored?'.

Avery stood in a room with blue walls and floor with a glass chamber on the top from where he could see four masked figures operating some kind of device and looking at him, they were heroes and he could recognise one of them, Plasma pulse, she was the same A-Ranked hero who interrupted his fun with Ren.

Suddenly the scenery around Avery changed as a scenario appeared before him. There was a kid looking to be 5 or 6 years of age about to be hit by a car while running towards a cat, suddenly blue text appeared in front of avery.

"Scenario one: The boy will be ran over by a car in under 3 seconds, what actions will you take before and after the incident"

Avery looked at the text as he thought, 'Interesting, since when have we been capable of using such technology'

30 minutes later….

A group of four heroes stood in a glass chamber as they saw a black haired pale skinned boy wearing a white hooded jacket leave the virtual room, they all had complicated looks on their faces as they all have never witness such a thing in their lives…..the holograms were realistic enough to make anyone act like they would in a real life situation but this boy…. Avery–he just looked at every scenario until the victims died and then killed the perpetrators afterwards, not even a hint of hesitation was shown by him while spilling the blood of innocents.

"So, he's a potential villain?", One of the heroes asked as the other nodded, only Plasma pulse didn't respond. She was contemplating what happened earlier, "You were about to use your powers weren't you?" 

Shouted Twisted mind as she grabbed plasma pulse's shoulders.

None of them were wearing their masks and after revealing their identities plasma pulse was aware, Avery and Emma Reed were the children of Thomas and Lusia Reed, the two S-Ranked heroes, Techa Nexus and Twisted mind.

She didn't want to admit it but Avery Reed was definitely more of a villainous person than her sister Emma who had saved everyone without a hint of hesitation, although she was extremely tired afterwards she didn't care and went on until everyone was safe.

But, plasma pulse was resolute, Avery Reed he must become a hero at at all costs we can't tarnish the name of the heroes and to do so she needed to guide Avery correctly so he goes on to become a hero, she again looked down at her tablet which showed the details about Avery Reed and his superpowers.

Plasma pulse used her authority to change his status from potential villain to neutral and took it upon herself to guide the kid towards righteousness, little did she know this would be the biggest mistake of her life.
