That was when Song Liya said something completely abnormal.

"Yu Yingyi, will you be my girlfriend?"

"Ha!?"

Yu Yingyi nearly choked on her food as the food she was about to eat dropped back onto the plate. She quickly gulped down a cup of water to let the food enter her stomach.

"I don't think I heard that right, could you repeat what you said again?"

"Yu Yingyi, will you be my girlfriend? I'm being serious here."

Yu Yingyi could tell she was being serious, she even placed her food down onto the plate and crossed her arms together waiting for Yu Yingyi's reply.

"But why? Aren't we already married? Why is there a need to go back to what we were before?" asked Yu Yingyi.

"That's where you're wrong, the marriage was only because of the contract, the contract that holds the relationship between us, without it, we're basically strangers."

Yu Yingyi's heart stung a bit when she heard the word strangers, if anything, she didn't want to go back to the way they were before.

"So what're you trying to say?"

"I want to have a genuine relationship with you, one that isn't formed because of a contract. I can tell that we both like each other, we enjoy each other's company, and we always make up after we quarrel. And we barely quarrel at all, I can tell we're compatible together, we're basically meant for each other. So, once again Yu Yingyi, will you be my girlfriend?"

Yu Yingyi's mind started processing what she just heard, a relationship that wasn't formed by a contract, but by genuine feelings. She couldn't deny that didn't sound nice, she also wanted that too.

Yu Yingyi thought about her feelings, she knew she romantically liked Song Liya. Her feelings towards her were real and they weren't infatuation or love, it was genuine.

So why was she hesitating to answer?

Was it because she was scared? That couldn't be it, after all, she's never been scared of Song Liya ever. Was it because she was scared of being in a relationship? Of course not, that wasn't possible since she'd gladly enter a relationship with Song Liya.

Questions ran through Yu Yingyi's mind, yet none of them was the right answer, except one.

Was she scared of what would happen if they break up when they were in a relationship? Yes, she was, after all, Song Liya was the only person who treated her this way, loved her this way, and made her feel like this.

It was an effect only Song Liya had on her, everyone else was a side character.

"Can I ask a question before I answer?" asked Yu Yingyi, she needed to hear her answer for reassurance.

"What is it?"

"Let's say we're in a relationship, we're dating genuinely and it's not formed because of a contract, what would happen if an obstacle comes in between us? What'll happen then?"

"We'll get through it together then, no obstacle can come in between the love we have for each other. Not even my mother will separate us if she tries to, our bond is unbreakable."

"But what if it didn't work the way you say it would, what if we break up? What would happen to us?"

"Come here."

"Huh?"

"I said come here." Song Liya said patted her lap.

Yu Yingyi got up from her seat and went over to Song Liya to sit on her lap, she was on top of Song Liya while facing her. At this point, the food was already forgotten.

"Stop thinking so negatively Yingyi, if you have these thoughts, it'll break your mentality down and you'll lose confidence," said Song Liya as she brushed Yu Yingyi's hair behind her air.

"I know, but I can't help but have these thoughts inside my head. It enters my mind even if I don't want it to."

"It's okay, I also have these thoughts too, but whenever I have those thoughts, I think about the love I have for you and the relationship we have. If there's ever a crack in our relationship, we'll get through this together. There will never be a time where you'll have to go through it alone."

Strangely, Yu Yingyi felt like she could trust Song Liya's words. After Song Liya finished her sentence, Yu Yingyi felt like she was embraced with a warm feeling, it made her feel safe and comfortable.

"If you really mean that, then my answer to your question will be a yes. I'd love to be your girlfriend, Song Liya. Let's build a genuine relationship between the two of us."

"Thank you!" Song Liya exclaimed.

Immediately, Song Liya cupped Yu Yingyi's cheeks and kissed her. It was a long, slow passionate kiss. They both savored every moment of the kiss, not wanting to part, but they were forced to since they both needed to catch their breath.

"You got me turned on now, Yu Yingyi."

"Huh?"

Song Liya lifted Yu Yingyi and brought them to a nearby couch and placed Yu Yingyi down with Song Liya on top of her.

"What're you doing Song Liya? We're still at a restaurant!" Yu Yingyi exclaimed.

'So? We're in a private room anyways, it's not like they can come in." Song Liya reassured.

"How shameless can you be? Anyways, we just became girlfriends! Don't you think we're going a bit too quick?"

"There is no such thing as going too quick, as long as we both consent into it, everything is fine."

"Still, I'm not comfortable doing it in public!"

"Oh? So if we're not in public, you're fine with it? Then let's finish up quickly, I can't wait to have a taste of you for dessert right after dinner, I'm getting hungry just thinking about it." Song Liya said licking her lips.

"No, no, no! We're not doing it anywhere or will we do it! I'm not ready for that yet."

"Jeez, fine. Even after getting into a genuine relationship with me, you're still as stubborn as ever."

"And you're still as perverted as ever!" Yu Yingyi shot back.

There was a moment of silence in the air before the two burst into laughter, the atmosphere felt pleasant and they were both filled with joy.

They wished things like this could last forever.
