Together with Paula, Reigner arrived in Mells Household. He was already known figure and no one dared to bar his way. With the adorable princess by his side, Reigner followed the familiar to his eyes route.
Soon, he entered the mansion belonging to the family head.
This mansion was shrouded in silence. No one, even the tiniest life presence could be seen or felt as the master was performing the arduous task.
"Is someone screaming?"
"We have come at a bad time, tsk."
Reigner clicked his tongue that told Paula he knows what is going on in the eerie mansion. Her senses were honed and even if the 'arduous task' was going on beneath them, in the basement, Paula could hear just a tad of screaming.
Then, her small ears twitched only to increase her audibility.
"Mr. Reigner... What is going on?"
"They have caught up... the otherworlders."
The otherworlders stand out when it comes to their language. No one can understand them, so if the fantasy soldiers press hard on them, their lips unconsciously mutter some foreign language that exposes their identity.
Other than that, Reigner has a few ideas as to how metal nobles find the otherworlders, but he can not confirm those. His current schedule is to strengthen himself and his troops, then get some fame in the kingdom.
All of these are more or less done.
Once his Metal Sphere gets created, Reigner is going on the expedition to the borders. That is his current plan.
"The blood of otherworlders can be converted without any natural opposition... Their bodies are the treasure in itself. And as you know, blood is rich in metal taste, so Mells Family began rearing those humans..."
The dead bodies were thoroughly 'metalized'. Then, used in various ways to strengthen the kingdom. Reigner suspected that even his troops, or maybe even him, possess a weapon made out of earthling's metalized body.
Once they metalize the body, it is easy to liquify it anew to properly mold the shape.
As for those who had been caught alive, they are treated worse than slaves with their blood being the primary reason for survival.
The hint of disgust couldn't be hidden from Paula as she listened attentively. Though Reigner did his best to hide it, nothing can escape her sensitive senses. Furthermore, Paula and Reigner had been close to each other ever since their first day.
Excluding her senses, Paula could read Reigner's body well. Not only he clicked his tongue, but also scratched back of his head. This is mostly when Reigner gets uncomfortable enough to keep something under wraps.
In such a mood, the wife and husband had reached the basement.
"Who? Ah, hi there, Reigner."
The head of Mells Household was called - Ione, Mells Ione. The noble metal creation of theirs was based on the owl and it was pretty sensitive to mental attacks making their household special. The mental attacks were one thing, but this is also unfathomable energy that is hard to counter.
Instead of strength, one should face it with a strong will! Depending on the circumstances, the mental strength can be either too powerful or too weak. The metal owl was also nimble to continuously shower its enemies with the metal mental energy!
"And, I am pleased to see the most exquisite flower of our royal family."
"I am honored, Mr. Mells."
Most exquisite when it comes to an appearance.
Ione didn't speak any lie here, but even if he did, Paula would give her usual bow and greet him the same. She did it flawlessly, then her hands came back to hold Reigner's arm. This beautiful bow was done while the three of them were surrounded by the 'slaves'.
Slaves strongly pinned down to the walls by chains.
If Paula could see, then her eyes surely would shake.
That's what Reigner thought, but Paula was faring well. She had her face pointed at the old head, then waited for the men to talk. This was the proper decorum of the princess right here.
The men exchanged the small, common talks as to how noble should then went straight to the topic.
"So without beating around the bush, I am trying to achieve something when it comes to using the metal aura outside the body."
"It is hard. At your stage, your origin is only gathering, then leading the metal energy to course through your body. It is a slow process to familiarize your body with the energy... It needs time."
The first stage of origin is just gathering up the metal aura so that Reigner's body can grow accustomed to it. Since he has a unique one created by his awakened power, Reigner felt like he can play with it.
Before more abilities of the origin awaken, Reigner was planning to learn a tad of mental concept from Ione. Then, he would try to form something akin to veins, but not on his weapon, but origin.
The first step is gathering, the second is to grasp the control over the coursing energy to release it outwardly. The third step is amplification! There were a lot of steps, but Reigner was carving his path!
"I am greedy."
"We know that. Haha, ~~"
If the royal bloodline can pass down the thick metal aura, why couldn't Reigner overleap a few steps as if he had some kind of bloodline? He was willing to try, willing to learn, and strengthen as soon as possible.
"And I am also curious. The taste of the battlefield, the taste of conquest... How does it feel?"
Another lie spotted by Paula, but she supported her husband. For a second, it felt as if her royal bloodline affected the train of thought that was roaming through Ione's head. He chuckled, then asked for some weapons.
Then, the metal owl appeared out of nowhere.
"I will lend you a cute owl. Feel free to do your research then."
It was a weak metal owl. This is a kind of type that is given to the youngest descendants with Mells bloodline so that they can learn how to move the special creation that can fly. It still was exuding the unknown to Reigner energy, so he gladly took that.
Within his hands, the owl lost all its energy and became immovable.
"Then, we are off. Thanks for having us."
"It's my pleasure, my pleasure. Have fun in your future endeavors, Reigner, Miss Paula."
Reigner was always speaking quietly, his words not entering the ears of the slaves from the earth. Those people would erupt with shock if they found out that they can understand him. It would bring unnecessary commotion.
When Paula asked why he was so quiet, Reigner blatantly told her that this is nothing important.
Yet she could tell otherwise.
The couple came back to the house, then Reigner carried the princess straight to her bedroom. From moving all this time, Princess was surely tired.
"Mr. Reigner! But I need a bath!"
"No need, I like your smell even if you are sweaty."
"That's... wrong."
The lady got her clothes taken off, then a cute pajamas fell onto her head. Reigner smiled widely at the princess who was doing her best to quickly put these onto her naked self. He himself then took off his clothes, put the pajamas, and slipped into the bed.
Both of them were sweaty in fact.
"I know you like my sweat too. Your little nose sniffed me so much it was red when I came back late a week ago."
"T-that's a blunder then!"
"Haha! If you like it, then why should you hold yourself back? Paula, you have an inexplicable charm and influence that soothes my heart, but also our troops. Now, it looks like I also have a good, sweaty charm."
"..."
The lady rolled on the bed so nicely that her little nose buried itself within his clothes. His smell was so pungent that the fresh pajamas could do nothing to it. Her little nose scratched and sniffed all the smell as she grasped his clothes with her small claws.
At the same time, Reigner pushed her more into himself, then grasped her hair. During their first meeting, Princess had shoulder-length hair, but now, it has grown so much it could reach her waist.
"Should I cut my hair?"
"You look fine no matter what."
"Which one Mr. Reigner prefers?"
"I would say the long one."
"Then, I won't cut it."
The duo snuggled in the bed, then when Reigner's eyelids got heavy enough to visit the dreamland, Paula suddenly spoke. Back in the Mells Mansion, she had felt that Reigner was worried about her hearing about the tortures given to other humans.
Whether otherworlders or not, they are all humans.
"I am not that weak, Mr. Reigner... Remember, you can speak about everything that lies within your heart to me."
If screams entered her mind, Paula would question, then act accordingly. If blood spilled onto her form, she would flinch, then properly gauge her situation with her instincts. She is weak, but not that weak to act like spoiled brat seeking protection.
Her metal aura might be weak, not connected to anything, but the thought of relying on someone would never appear first within her mind! She would do her best to solve the situation by herself.
That's how Paula had been before.
*Sniff* *Sniff*
But it is a tad different now.
It is okay to rely on someone who holds her tightly.
