A wish to never stand on the opposite side

Xua Ying Yue paused in her actions and raised her head to look at Zou Zeming. When she saw that he was genuinely intrigued with the shop, she silently pursed her lips —— was this man doing it unconsciously or was there something going on in his head?

Who brings a girl to a restaurant and just casually drops a bomb that the restaurant where they came to eat was the restaurant where his grandfather brought his grandma to date? Was he not afraid of getting misunderstood?

However, when Xua Ying Yue thought about how Zou Zeming was a scatterbrain when it comes to small things like this, she was sure that he just mentioned it causally. It was his good fortune that she did not take it seriously or else he will be on the losing end.

" Now what are you going to do?" After Zou Zeming called a waiter and placed an order for a large hot pot of spicy crayfish, he turned to look at her and popped the question out of nowhere which made Xua Ying Yue blink her eyes and raise her head to look at Zou Zeming with a questioning look on her face.

" What do you mean?" She asked in a voice which was scratchy and hoarse as if she had spent time dragging cigar drags all night long.

Zou Zeming scratched the inside of his hand when he heard Xua Ying Yue's husky voice and had to suppress the giddy feeling in his heart. In fact, he couldn't be blamed for feeling a bit infatuated with Xua Ying Yue, she was a beautiful young girl, especially with those eyes which looked so similar to a cat.

Even though she did not apply makeup, the curves of her eyelids and lightly upturned eyes of hers gave her entire face a mysterious touch which might make even the strongest man's heart to palpitate. And it only got worse when she looked at someone with those lazy eyes which were full of languid emotions and used that husky voice of hers on someone.

He knew that she only used it unknowingly but it still affected him.

" I meant to say, how are you going to deal with the person who was behind the attack," Zou Zeming cleared his throat and then sat up straight as he looked away from Xua Ying Yue's dark eyes which were like two whirlpools sucking everything within them.

Xua Ying Yue took a sip from the glass of water which the waiter placed in front of her. She did not answer at once instead she let the cold water trickle down her throat before she parted her lips and answered, " I am busy with something else for the time being and cannot bother with her but there is no need for me to find trouble with her anyway."

What Xua Ying Yue said was indeed the truth, the thug whom she just pummeled to the ground did not look like he was a person who would let go of someone who humiliated him so easily. But he was also smart, with his little head that thug might have already understood that he will not be able to defeat her which was why all his anger will now be directed at Qi Qiao who hired him.

Boss Shi will not be willing to let go of this humiliation that he suffered which was why the one who will now suffer would be Qi Qiao

" Professor Pei Qingjiao, right?" When Xua Ying Yue was still lost in her thoughts, Zou Zeming suddenly spoke up causing her to look at him with a frown and then say, " And you said that you were not stalking me."

" I wasn't," Zou Zeming shook his head and refused the accusations at once. "It is not difficult to catch onto your actions since I pay attention to you… you usually don't smile at someone unless you are close to snapping and the last time I saw you smile was Professor Pei which is why I just made a guess, I did not think that it would sit so accurate."

" I smile a lot," Xua Ying Yue refuted which only made Zou Zeming smile as he wriggled his finger and said, " No you don't…you smirk but you don't smile. There is a difference between the two… and in all honesty, when you smile, it never reaches your eyes —— however when you are smiling at your victim, there is this," he rubbed his forefinger and thumb together before continuing, " Sadistic satisfaction which glints in your eyes and that's how I know after whom you are going after."

Xua Ying Yue stared at Zou Zeming for a few seconds, her expression blank and unreadable.

" As I thought, you are dangerous," She was not making a casual remark but stating a fact.

Zou Zeming smiled at her comment and leaned back on his chair before crossing his arms as he said, " Don't worry, I am not against you. And I will like to maintain the status quo even in the future."

His eyes were sincere as he looked at Xua Ying Yue, it was as if he truly wished to never fight a case where he have to stand against Xua Ying Yue and prove her crimes.

" Why?" Xua Ying Yue asked without any tremor in her voice.

" Hmm, I don't know …maybe because I wouldn't be able to help myself and lose the case deliberately," Zou Zeming replied with a smile which caused his dimples to become even more prominent. He lowered his head and chuckled softly while tapping his fingers on the surface of the table before adding, " I know I shouldn't do something like this but if you were the one standing on the other side and I have to prosecute you…I don't think I would be able to do that, comrade Xua."

He raised his head and looked Xua Ying Yue in the eye before he smiled and softly added, " I will let you go even if it means to go against my ethics which is why I hope that the two of us will never have to face such a day."
