Chapter 36 - Lava dungeon ( Part 2 )

Ray and his party continued descending the stairs and clearing the rooms.

In one room they encountered bats that could shoot "Fire mana wave" which actually looked completely harmless at first impression and didn't do any external damage, but it actually carried all the poisonous gases generated in the cave from Magma and fire. These waves messes up the internal system of the enemy. And also poison the individual.

There was no method to avoid these waves.

The entire party was immediately poisoned.

Ray used his ["Element Healing"] spell which cleared all poison from the bodies.

"Thanks Ray for the healing. Otherwise, all of us would have died." said Leo

"Yeah, that poison was potent and could kill anyone within a minute" said Luna

In the next room, they found chameleons that attacked with their whip-like tongues from inside the magma.

Not only did their magma coating provided an excellent defense against most lower-level spells, They could even use the magma as camouflage to launch surprise attacks.

What made them truly dangerous though, was that just touching one would kill most Rank 5 beings. Only Rank 5 knight might survive, but he will also be heavily injured.

And because chameleons could utilize the magma in their surroundings, everything was a potential weapon for them.

On the off chance the battle went poorly for them, they could use the magma as a cover to hide in, too. Even skilled adventurers will have trouble killing these monsters.

After killing all chameleons Ray and others were teleported to Another room.

There they found 4 small dragons and 1 Massive dragon staring at them.

Then all 5 dragons opened their mouths and started preparing for an attack.

Ray's danger sense immediately alerted him, and he shouted "Quickly cast defensive spells".

Hearing his words everyone started casting ["Earth Wall"] spell and other defensive spells.

Ray also cast ["Ice shield"] spell but when the Dragons were building their attacks, he realized that all the defenses will be easily broken by this attack, so he started spamming ["Ice shield"] spell and reinforced the previous cast spell, making defense stronger.

Then Dragons fired beams from their mouth and all the beams concentrated at one point and then traveled towards the barriers.

Whole room was dyed with Red light for a moment. When the light subsided all the barriers were broken and everyone had burn marks on their bodies.

All of them were in extreme pain except Ray since his Divine Vampire Passive Skills kicked in and instantly healed him.

Everyone in the party had grim faces since those 4 small Dragons were Peak Rank 5 and finally the most scary was the Big Dragon who was Rank 6.

But when they were planning to deal with the Dragons, All Dragons disappeared and were teleported to somewhere else.

As soon as that happened, Room started shaking and Room was split from the front and a path was created.

Magma rivers were flowing on the sides. This path was leading to a Hall containing 5 doors and each door contains the image of the Dragon which we met earlier.

4 doors were locked and only the Door on which number 5 was written was opened.

Everyone immediately understood that they will have to fight with one dragon and kill him. Only then will the next door open.

When they started walking the path, lot of magma monsters appeared from below the magma and started attacking them.

To be honest the monsters were weak, but they were large in numbers, so they were constantly attacking Ray and his party with fireball and other attacks from every direction.

If Ray was alone then he would have taken at least 10 minutes to kill these small monsters. Then he reaches rooms of dragons.

He will be able to kill even first 4 Dragons, but then Ray was sure that he will be extremely exhausted by the time he will reach the last room. This will become the reason for his death against Rank 6 Dragon.

But this time Ray was not alone, he was with his classmates and with everyone's help, Ray was able to progress quickly on the path.

However, just before he could make the final leap to the Hall containing the 5 Dragon rooms.

"Graaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!"

"Ah!?"

A bestial roar shook him to the very core.

A second later, a giant magma serpent flew out of the sea, its jaws open wide.

Because of how he was surrounded by monsters from all sides Ray's ["Danger Sense"] skill was always on alert, so he was not able to sense this giant serpent at all.

For the First time in the Dungeon he'd been caught truly by a surprise.

Still Ray reacted with his battle honed reflexes.

He twisted to the side and tried to dodge, but It was still too late.

His arm was caught between the jaws of the giant serpent and was ripped apart.

He felt extreme pain but again his arm was regenerated thanks to his ["Divine Vampire Passive Skill"]. This was the first time Ray suffered this level of injury.

All of Ray's party and even Headmaster Selene was surprised by the appearance of Giant serpent.

So none of them were able to react.

Only when Ray's arm was ripped apart, Did they come back to their senses.

But they were dumbfounded seeing his Arm regenerated immediately.

It's true that they have heard stories of vampire having good regeneration.

Heck! They have even fought some vampires who take at least 5 minutes to regenerate lost limbs.

But the man in front of them is a monster in true sense. He literally regenerated a new arm in fuckin! Seconds.

That's why everyone was gobsmacked including Headmaster Selene, but later she understood since she is experienced, so she knows that Ray vampire traits are far stronger than normal vampire so his "Instant Regeneration" should be the because he is the son of Rank 11 Vampire Queen.

Ray cast ["Blue Flame Missile"] spell and fired at the serpent head.

His missile sped toward the serpent's head. But the next moment,

Ray was surprised "What the fuck?."

His missiles had passed straight through the serpent's head, dislodging a bit of magma as they'd done so.

The thing was hollow. All the other monsters Ray had faced so far in the dungeon had possessed physical bodies underneath their coating of magma.

This was the first time he was facing a creature created purely from magma.

Still he quickly composed himself from his surprise, and tried shooting missiles at other sections of the serpent just in case.

Unfortunately, the rest of its body was hollow as well. As he'd feared, the whole thing was made only of magma.

"Man, what a pain in the ass" cursed Ray. He started thinking of ways to kill the serpent.

First idea was to destroy whole body of the serpent with a single attack.

So he cast ["Inferno"] spell.

It completely destroyed the serpent, but the destroyed pieces started forming again.

However, he noticed something. The serpent was actually not moving from his location since the time he appeared, so Ray concluded that there should be something special at that place.

So while the serpent was reforming his body, Ray focused on the place and found out that a crystal was hidden underneath the magma and most probably it was the reason that serpent was able to reform its body, so Ray shot ["Blue Flame Missile"] spell towards the crystal.

When the crystal broke. The serpent stopped reforming and died. Before Ray could rejoice for his achievement.

Just then, chills ran down his spine.

Trusting in his instincts, He immediately used ["Gale Shoes"] and starting running towards his party trying to gain as much distance as possible.

Not even a second later, multiple magma serpents shot out of the sea below, each of them chomping down where he'd been nanoseconds before.

There were more than twenty of them now, and they had Ray and his party surrounded.

Ray explained the weakness of the serpents to everyone and then started killing all the serpents.

Everyone first spammed big destructive spells to expose the crystal below the serpent and then destroyed the crystal to kill the serpent.

Then finally they cleared the path and reached the Hall containing the five Dragon rooms.
