As she was confronted by the mysterious person, Dorothy quickly waved her hands. "No, no. I really didn't. I-I-I was simply too impulsive. I really didn't intend to kill you!"
Delçois also quickly helped to defend her, "Your Excellency, Dorothy has a quick temper but she really didn't mean any harm."
Dorothy, who was very terrified at first, abruptly turned her head and looked at Delçois with a surprised gaze in her eyes when she heard him defend her.
Yu Sheng'an didn't sense the complexity of a romantic relationship while he witnessed this scene. Instead, he only felt a sense of coldness!
This world was even more terrifying than he had imagined!
An aristocratic lady had decided to kill him to vent her frustrations, and then she could still feel elated when she felt a change in the guy's attitude.
Was she a lovesick fool who thought love was the only thing that mattered?
Or did she simply not realize the severity of this incident?
Or, was she thinking that this was a trivial matter? Did she only apologize because his identity was a mystery so she had to find a way out of this?
Frankly speaking, Yu Sheng'an—who hailed from a country that banned firearms—was tremendously disappointed with this.
He didn't bother to reply and left.
After leaving the "Mage's Hat", Yu Sheng'an walked towards the downtown area via the Fire Phoenix Avenue.
Being the capital of the Queville Empire, Willis City was the most prosperous territory at the south of the Aizea Continent.
The smooth path that he was walking on had been laid with earth-based magic. Row upon row of buildings with different architectural styles were lining the two sides of the road.
Wind that was slightly chilly blew onto his face, giving him an exotic feel.
That day was the first time he had descended upon the Aizea Continent using the hologram method.
Before that, he had observed countless users without a break in an attempt to understand that world better.
However, no matter how much observing he had done, it still wasn't as impactful as those few-hours' experience!
Everything was so new and exciting; it made him feel a lot of emotions!
He could sense the huge cultural differences between the Aizea Continent and the Blue Star simply from Dorothy's attempt to kill him with magic over some quarreling.
Although both places used violence to define order, the latter was still relatively peaceful because there wasn't much difference between each individual's power.
But this world? It was simply complicated and hard to express succinctly.
Frankly speaking, if he weren't concerned about collaborating with the Queville Empire, he really would have liked to give Dorothy a big slap across her face.
What lovesick? She was just spoiled.
Whoosh!
A sharp hissing sound pierced through his ears.
An ice blade that was way above the speed of a 2nd-tier magic pierced through Yu Sheng'an's chest and embedded itself onto a building.
Yu Sheng'an lowered his head to look at his heart which had a hole pierced through it without any expression.
The Contract Radiance was blinking on his body and his badly mangled chest began to return to normal amidst some squirming. Only the bloodstained clothes reminded him that what happened earlier was not a hallucination.
At that very moment, a lava giant flipped over in an abyss and created a huge wave of dark red lava. It didn't realize that its vitality was gradually elapsing from its body.
It only wanted to have a good sleep to make up for the tragic experience of being summoned to a dark room out of the blue, beaten up and forced to sign an unfair contract a few days before.
"This is a capital of magic. No deities are welcome!" A grave voice sounded from an undetermined direction.
The night was getting darker and fog began to form on the streets, making that voice sound even creepier.
"Bro, your technique at sowing discord is really too awkward. Aren't you afraid that your family would be massacred if they find out who you are?" Yu Sheng'an said.
"That is only if you could find me!" That voice suddenly became ferocious. "Die now!"
The white fog that was suffusing on the street suddenly began to boil, transforming into extremely hot steam. It completely blocked the only living thing on the street!
That was only the beginning. Lava monsters suddenly emerged from the extremely hot steam and pounced on him.
Yu Sheng'an didn't move an inch.
All the monsters disappeared as a whole and the steam, too, dissipated in the very instant those monsters pounced on him. The heat started to spread to the surroundings after losing its restraints.
A six-pointed star was blinking next to Yu Sheng'an and Dandell's figure could be seen.
He shouted at Yu Sheng'an in a panic as soon as he appeared, "Don't be mistaken. Somebody is trying to sow discord!"
Yu Sheng'an nodded. "I know."
Heavy footsteps sounded from afar and a 3-meter-tall winged syngenor slowly walked over.
There was a human who had lost all signs of life in its claws.
The syngenor dumped the body next to Yu Sheng'an and bowed. A six-pointed star appeared underneath his feet and its huge body disappeared.
Dandell walked to the body as magic halos blinked in his eyes. After a while, he said with a grave expression, "This is a flesh clone!"
"So, there's no way we can find out who's behind him?"
"I will investigate today's incident thoroughly and give Your Excellency an answer."
Yu Sheng'an exhaled a breath to get rid of the uncomfortable feeling of killing a person for the first time. He wanted to say something, but decided against it after some thought.
Then, he continued to walk toward the center along the Fire Phoenix Avenue in silence.
Dandell remained standing in situ and stared at the flesh clone in a daze.
After 15 minutes, Zimmer and Betty appeared next to Dandell without making a sound.
Betty, who looked like a charming middle-aged lady, stared at the flesh clone that was sprawled on the ground and sighed, "You sacrificed a flesh clone just to test him out. Was it worth it?"
The flesh clone was not as stiff and inanimate as a magical puppet.
The person utilizing the skill would be able to fully control the puppet clone. One could say that the puppet itself was an individual with its flesh, blood and soul. It could even cultivate.
It was similar to a Deity's Hologram.
The Deity's Hologram was a clone created with a portion of the deity's flesh, blood and soul.
In fact, it was closer to being the extension of the deity's main body than a clone. They were bound together for bad or for worse. When it was hurt, the main body would also be seriously damaged.
The flesh clone was based on this theory. The person doing it would separate part of his or her flesh, blood and soul through a special magic and grow it into an individual being.
However, as opposed to the immediate effect of the Deity's Hologram, mages—who didn't have any divine power—needed more than ten years to grow a flesh clone.
Apart from the manpower and material resources invested during that period of time, they also had to operate the flesh clone frequently and cultivate from the very beginning.
That was one of the methods many magical deities used to extend their lifespans.
That showed how important a flesh clone was.
"What he said was right. Everything comes with a price! Could you live with yourselves if we hand him the Empire without testing him out?" Dandell murmured.
Yes. He had controlled this assassination personally.
He had decided to do that at the very last minute. Hence, he could only utilize the extremely valuable flesh clone because he didn't have time to plan.
He was very satisfied with the outcome.
Yu Sheng'an's reaction showed that he valued the empire greatly. Otherwise, he would have taken the chance to act up and ask for even more benefits!
Of course, even if he didn't value the empire, it also proved that he was a cool-headed deity that preferred to side with reason.
The mages liked people who were calm and detested thugs who were messy and stupid!
Apart from that, deducing from the intel gathered from the other countries, the Queville Empire was indeed the first stop for spreading the Internet Divine Skill.
Judging from this, the Queville Empire's cultural environment seemed to be quite suitable for the dissemination of the Internet Divine Skill, or they could say that they were favored by the Internet Deity.
Hence, the Internet Deity would not give up the empire easily!
All these were going to be the Queville Empire's bargaining chips.
"Have you decided?" Zimmer asked.
"I decided! The possibilities he described were… too enticing."
"What if this is a trap?" Betty was a little hesitant.
"Even if it is, we, too, don't have the power to stop it. Unless we allow the Five Main Righteous Deities to build their churches in the empire," Dandell said.
Zimmer and Betty fell into silence upon hearing that.
After all, it would be the lesser of two evils!
Seeing their reactions, Dandell consoled them, "There's no need to worry too much. Judging from today's outcome, he values the empire greatly so the possibility of accepting the contract is rather great. As long as we sign the contract, the Queville Empire would still be a country of magic!"
