Chapter 39：Misunderstanding of Bite Marks

Shen Mengli didn't act politely with Li Weijie, but she didn't take advantage of him either. They agreed to meet at McDonald's.

The McDonald's they went to was located near Shen Mengli's place. Since Xu Rong lived not too far from there, they chose this location.

Li Weijie didn't have to wait long at the entrance of McDonald's before Shen Mengli arrived. Since she lived nearby, she didn't drive and simply walked there.

"Hehe, have you been waiting for a long time?"

"No, I just got here too." Shen Mengli, now dressed in simple jeans and a T-shirt, with a cute smile, looked nothing like the cool and stylish chief stylist she was. 

However, her genuine and friendly demeanor made her even more approachable and likable. Li Weijie couldn't help but be amazed.

In that instant, he felt a warmth reminiscent of the times when he made plans with his ex-girlfriend Xiao Lan.

"Let's go, don't even think about ditching me. I'm telling you, I didn't bring any money." Shen Mengli patted Li Weijie's shoulder and said playfully.

"How is that possible?" Li Weijie followed her as she walked towards the restaurant.

Naturally, Shen Mengli found a place to sit while Li Weijie went to order.

Since he didn't know what Shen Mengli liked to eat, Li Weijie decided to order a little bit of everything. He brought over a pile of food.

Choosing a seat by the window, Shen Mengli couldn't help but laugh when she saw him coming over with all the food. "Hey, Li Weijie, do you think I'm a cow's stomach or are you the one with a cow's stomach?"

Li Weijie put down the tray and rubbed his nose, feeling a bit embarrassed. "I didn't know what you liked, so I ordered a bit of everything. Hopefully, there's something you like."

Shen Mengli couldn't help but burst into laughter. "You're so cute! Why didn't you ask me? You're wasting money like this. Besides, the food here is all more or less the same, how much can you like it?"

"Hehe, it's my treat for the first time. I can't let you go hungry, can I?" Li Weijie said, motioning for her to start eating.

Li Weijie didn't like fast food like McDonald's, but he was just there to fill his stomach. As he started eating, Shen Mengli, who was lightly biting on a French fry, suddenly burst into laughter.

"What's wrong? Is my... eating manners so ugly?" Li Weijie put down his hamburger and licked his lips, asking.

Shen Mengli shook her head, laughing even more.

"What's so funny?" Li Weijie was a bit puzzled.

Shen Mengli tried her best to hold back her laughter and pointed to her lips. "Right here!" After saying that, she stuck out her tongue and licked her lips.

Sitting across from each other, at such a close distance, Li Weijie couldn't help but be affected by her teasing gesture. A beautiful woman sticking out her tongue and lightly licking her lips was truly an enticing sight.

"Hey! What are you looking at? I... I'm talking about you!" Seeing Li Weijie staring at her lips, Shen Mengli blushed, immediately realizing that he had misunderstood. She quickly glared at him and pouted in a soft voice.

Upon hearing her clarification, Li Weijie finally understood what she meant. Remembering the bite marks on his lips, he couldn't help but blush and cough a few times to cover up his embarrassment.

Seeing Li Weijie's embarrassed expression, Shen Mengli couldn't help but laugh again. "Hehe, I didn't expect you to be so good at it!"

This girl was deliberately trying to embarrass him! Li Weijie felt a bit awkward. "What's that supposed to mean? Let's just eat."

Seeing him bow his head to continue eating, Shen Mengli couldn't help but feel delighted. She couldn't resist asking, "A-Jie, tell me, how did you win over Sister Rong's heart?" Then she pushed his arm. "Satisfy my curiosity!"

Li Weijie, hearing her words, was both surprised and amused. He looked at her for a moment, realizing that she must have misunderstood. He replied with a wry smile, "Hey, there's nothing between us. When did I... make an international move with Sister Rong?"

Now it was Shen Mengli's turn to be surprised. Curiously, she looked at him for a few moments and realized he wasn't pretending. She couldn't help but feel puzzled. "Huh? You guys are not a thing? Are you saying Sister Rong didn't bite your lip?"

When she said that, she couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed. Making jokes was one thing, but they hadn't become familiar enough to discuss such intimate matters with Li Weijie.

"Of course not!" 

Li Weijie felt both amused and exasperated. He recalled her teasing him this morning and realized she had already assumed something! 

He couldn't help but reach out and tap her head lightly, scolding her with a laugh, "What are you thinking? Don't be so nosy and makeup rumors!"

Shen Mengli wrinkled her nose and reached up to touch her head. Pouting, she said, "It's not true, then it's not true. Why would you hit my head?"

Li Weijie couldn't help but chuckle. "Fortunately, you're telling me this. Don't tell it to Sister Rong. Hmph..."

Shen Mengli ate, ignoring his words. 

"Who knows if what you said is true or false? That night, you two were alone in the same room. Maybe you took advantage of the situation!" 

She said with a sly look on her face.

"Hey, that was at the hospital! What do you mean by 'alone in the same room'? And saying I took advantage?" Li Weijie cried helplessly. It was too far-fetched.

"Hehe, what I meant was that Sister Rong was weak and sick. You've been taking care of her these past few days, taking advantage of the opportunity to capture her heart. You two rested together yesterday, and Sister Rong said you went out together..." Shen Mengli's face took on a mischievous expression. 

"Hmm, apparently, you even stayed out all night!"

Li Weijie was once again defeated. He couldn't say he didn't come back home; otherwise, it would be considered "staying out all night". He could only keep silent.

Her silence was construed as confirmation by Shen Mengli. 

"Hmm... in fact, Sister Rong made herself too busy and needed someone to care for and look after her..."

Shaking his head helplessly, Li Weijie suddenly received a phone call. He quickly picked it up, seizing the opportunity to interrupt this misunderstanding.

"Li Weijie!"

Although Su Keko's voice carried a hint of anger, Li Weijie, now relieved from the confusion, found it very comforting. He happily replied, "Keko, it's you."

"Why didn't you call me? Where are you now?" Su Keko asked with a hint of annoyance. 

It wasn't convenient to explain in person, but a phone call or a message should have sufficed, right? 

It had been two days since their last contact, and he hadn't made any moves, which made her even more annoyed.

"I've been busy these past few days..." Li Weijie felt a bit embarrassed, but he couldn't exactly say, "You're not paying attention to me, so I called you to make myself feel bad, right?" 

Suddenly, he thought of another issue. 

She wouldn't want to meet him now, would she? 

So he hurriedly said, "I'm still at work, quite busy actually!"

At this moment, Shen Mengli patted his arm and gestured for him to look outside. "That girl has been staring at you! Do you know her?"
