Appearing into a small room which didn't have anything in it. Jake remembered as if it was yesterday, it was the class selection.
It was a place that determined your playing experience but the most frustrating thing about this room was how you would choose your class.
'I hope I get a good class because if I don't everything will be much more complicated' Jake thought
As he was thinking, the AI of the game that controlled everything, Version, started explaining the process of the selection.
"Welcome players to the one of the most important parts of the game, the class selection! Choosing a class in Upsilon Online is different from other games, everything is random. The class you get will be determined by the gigantic wheel behind me. The wheel can be spun as much as you want, that is… if you have the money. One spin cost 30 copper and your starting money is of 100 copper or 1 silver if you prefer. May luck be in your favor." said the AI
"Okay, let's go and get a good class" said Jake, trying to be confident. But the reality was that Jake was starting to sweat because if he got a really bad class then he would be ruined. This place was where he got lucky in his past life and got one of the strongest classes in the game Paladin.
After praying to the gods, he approached the wheel and spun the wheel and saw 30 copper vanish from his inventory, it didn't hurt much since he knew he could get much more in the game but this part was reserved to luck.
"You have obtained the class Bard. Do you wish to spin the wheel again?" said the AI
"Yes, it's not like I have much of a choice." Responded Jake, beginning to feel stress because of the result of the wheel
As he said that another 30 copper vanished from his inventory, he only had 40 copper left or one spin left if you prefer.
'Please, please, please give me a strong class.' thought Jake as the wheel was spinning at a fast rate
The wheel was starting to slow down, and it was all down to two choices wizard or assassin.
'Not a wizard, please I have no experience with magic' thought Jake, pleading to the AI
He got the result of the spin soon enough.
"NICE! I got assassin. It's perfect for my playstyle since I will play for myself and myself only." said Jake, lost in his past life memories
"You have obtained the class assassin. Do you which to spin the wheel again?" asked the AI
"No, please let me into the game" said Jake, confidently. He didn't possess one once of stress since he knew what to do.
As Jake appeared, the village was bustling with new players. Everyone was running everywhere trying to level up as fast as possible. But Jake knew that their actions, right now, would be their own downfall.
'Just like my memories, I really wasn't dreaming' thought Jake, still shocked by the fact that he went back in time
After he realised everything was the same as before, he started planning what he wanted to do.
'To start well, I have to do now is go to training hall' thought Jake
The training hall was where players went to get bonus stat for their character. At the start of the game, few players decided that it wasn't necessary since they could always come back later to get those stats. But they didn't know that if you went past level 5. The stats you could obtain here were no longer accessible.
'Show me my status' asked Jake to the AI

----
Jake was happy seeing the skill he obtained Stealth. The effect of the skill was as the name indicated, he could be move without making any noises for a period of time which at level 1 is 10 seconds. His stats were the exact same as every other assassin in the game. The stats you started with, depended on the class you obtained. For example, a mage would get more intelligence and would start with more mana.
After seeing everything was in order, he followed the plan he made at the start and went to the training hall.
It was completely empty except for a couple of players that were trying to see the effects of training there. But most of the players would leave after seeing how long it would take to finish the training here completely. The players who stayed here, would be his opponents in the future since they knew even one attribute point would make a difference in the long run.
Interrupting his chain of thoughts, the training hall master came to greet Jake
"Hello young sir, are you here to practice?"
"Yes, do you have a task I could do to get better?" asked Jake, already knowing what his answer would be.
"Yes, it's the same task I gave to everyone here. All you need to do is hit the training dummy 5000 times for it to give you some strength"
QUEST
-Hit the training dummy 5000x (can be repeated 12 times)
REWARD
-1 ATP
'Ah this is going to take so long' complained Jake, annoyed by the task he had to do.
The worst thing was that hitting the training dummy 5000 times would only give you one ATP (attribute point) and with this training you could get to as much as 12 ATP. All Jake all to do was hit the dummy 60000 times which was easier said than done.
'Let's go it's only the first step to become the strongest' thought Jake, trying to motivate himself
2 days later
"It's finally OVER!" said Jake, out loud to celebrate the ending of his training
Jake exhausted, finally finished this dammed quest. It took two full days with a little bit of rest inside the game.
As he was ready to leave and continue his adventure. The training hall master, Oliver, went up to Jake.
"You are the first person to ever finish the quest 12 times" said Oliver to Jake
'What his happening, I never heard of this happening in my past life' thought Jake, shocked by the development of this situation he was unaware of.
"Thank you, I did my best" said Jake, trying his best to keep his composure in front of this new variable.
"As a reward for completing this training, I offer a challenge which will be hard but if you are able to accomplish it will surely be worthwhile" said Oliver, full of expectations
"The challenge I propose is for to hunt the Goblin Shaman which is in a cavern to the west. However, be careful since he will be accompanied by his army of goblins"
NEW QUEST
-Slain the Goblin Chaman and bring proof to Oliver
REWARD
-????
-2000 EXP
'I don't know if I can do this. Goblin Shamans are tricky opponents to face and I also don't know the reward, it could be worthless. But it's sure to be good if its for killing a strong opponent' thought Jake
To give an idea, Goblin Shamans have 4x the ATP that possess Jake even after completing the training. This quest was simply suicide. Well, it should be but not for a being of the future.
"I accept the challenge" said Jake, full of confidence
"Fantastic, it's been a while since I saw someone as fearless as you" said Oliver, trying to complement Jake
"Oh I almost forgot but you have until tomorrow night to bring me back proof of you killing it"
"All alright, I will leave right away then." replied Jake, completely focused on the task given to him.
