"I… I…" Kalina stuttered, unable to form a coherent response as conflicting emotions swirled inside her.
Mia's gaze bore into her, demanding an honest answer, her eyes filled with a mixture of concern and determination.
"Wait a minute, he made you sign an NDA didn't he," Mia finally said in realization.
"Yes," Kalina admitted softly, a flicker of relief flooding her features.
"Of course he did," Mia said, her tone resigned. She pulled Kalina towards her large soft ottoman, making her sit with Mia facing her. "Listen, I am not going to make you tell me anything because I know my brother, and he doesn't do well with betrayal, but I am going to ask a couple of questions. Just frown if I am wrong and smile if I am right, ok?" Mia instructed.
"Ok," Kalina relented, her expression cautious.
"So obviously I know your marriage is one of contract, is this contract for six months?" Mia asked Kalina.
Kalina frowned in response.
