Unlocked the CEO's Chained Heart

Andriana "Andy" Bennett had lived her entire young life like a Princess, spoiled and loved by her parents and older brother. But tragedy struck her family, leaving her orphaned and alone. The Preston family took her in. Mr. Preston, her father's best friend, treated her like the daughter he never had, honoring his friendship with her father. However, Mrs. Preston only tolerated her presence. She had ensured that she would remember she never belonged in their family. Then, there were the handsome Preston brothers, Lucas, who treated her like she did not exist, and Tristan, who had become very close to her. Her life might not be perfect, but it was ok until she caught her boyfriend cheating on her on her 21st birthday. Wanting to get back at him, she dared to kiss her so-called brother, the older Preston brother, Lucas. What she did not expect was that he would kiss her back. Then, that was where the chaos started as she found herself on a roller coaster ride. She was engaged in a day, married in a week, and divorced two years after their contract ended. It sounded simple enough, but it was not. What would happen next?

Chapter 30

Andy! You are perfect in every way!

He stared at her gorgeous face, loving how the sun's rays reflected in her eyes as their bodies glided together on the flat deck while the soft music played along the strong wind.

He did not know what got to him, but he did not wish the moment to end. He had never imagined himself as a romantic. But he could not stop wanting to give her the world if that was the way to make her happy.

How I wish I'm the man for you.

He knew his wife deserved a husband who could love her and give her everything she needed and wanted. But that man was not him.

However, he believed Jeremy or Tristan was not that man either. But maybe someday, she would find the right man for her.

"Oh! Sorry, Lucas!" She lightly giggled as her feet faltered on her movement, accidentally stepping on his toes. "I think I'm getting lightheaded."

She could not explain what was wrong with her. But she felt slightly dizzy. She had a few drinks, but hardly enough to get her intoxicated.

"Are you alright?" He suddenly felt concerned, seeing how she swayed in her movement. Even her expression seemed out of sorts.

He initially thought she might be tipsy, but something was off since they hardly had enough wine to get them drunk.

However, he would admit he also felt slightly odd. He could feel something tingling in his muscles as his body heated up while sweat developed at the back of his neck.

"I think I just need some air." She said as if the wind was not enough as it blew her hair out of her face. Then, she ran to the railing, gasping to fill her lungs.

Quickly, he followed her, afraid that she might fall overboard. He held on to her shoulders, ensuring she was safe as they enjoyed the fresh sea air.

"I don't think this is a good idea. Why don't I get you inside so you can lie down?" He felt that instead of getting better, they were both getting worse, more her than him, as her feet became more unstable.

He ushered her into the boat's lower deck to a private room where she could lie on a bed. He thought it was not safe for them to roam on an open deck with their condition.

"Tell the Captain to get us back to shore." He instructed the crew as they assisted them into the private cabin.

He suspected they might have consumed something in the food as he watched his wife almost lay emotionless on the bed while mumbling words he could barely understand.

Unfortunately, there was no medical practitioner on board. They only had a first aid kit but nothing to help his wife's condition.

"Lucas, I need you." His wife's voice called to him when he helped her on the bed and swiped her hair away from her face.

He felt her hand reaching out to him until she held his shoulders, pulling him toward her. Then, he felt her lips touching his, demanding he kiss her back.

However, he quickly disentangled himself from her hold, mildly pushing her back on the bed. He knew what she wanted. But he was not about to take advantage of her inebriated situation.

"Don't you want me? Don't you like my kiss?" Her slurred words still reached his ears. The sound of disappointment was evident in her voice.

Of course, he wanted her.

Truthfully, he wanted nothing but to kiss her.

He wanted this honeymoon to be the real thing.

But what he wanted was not relevant. He knew he could not have her. He could never claim her as his. After this arrangement, he had to let her go.

"Someone as innocent and pure as you..." He ran his hand along the strands of her hair. "...can't be tainted by the likes of me. You deserve someone better than me."

He hated that he could not be the man for her. But he could not promise her anything. He was a man incapable of love. He would only hurt her in the end.

"Jason, listen closely." He immediately called his emergency contact, knowing he would need his assistance. "I think we have been drug. I want you to look into Chase."

He could not think of anyone else who would do this to them. His friend could sometimes be a prick. Drugging them might be one of his stupid pranks.

He believed the cake might have been spiked with narcotics. But since he only ate a small piece, he barely felt the side effects. But not his wife, who consumed her cake and his remaining share.

"Would you need a doctor?" His assistant asked, sounding worried about them.

He checked on his wife, but he doubted it was that serious. However, it was better to be safe. "Yes, send a doctor to the dock." He did not need one, but his wife still might. He was not taking any chances.

"What is wrong with me?" She muttered in a barely audible voice. "It is so hot." She continued as she struggled to move her hands and her body.

He put his phone on the side table before returning his attention to his wife. He grabbed the towel he wet in the bathroom earlier and wiped his wife's face.

He hoped the cold water would ease the discomfort from the effects of the unknown substance she consumed. Usually, the drugs would not last long in the system, but in Andy's case, it might be much longer.

"I should have known that Chase would do something like this." He could not help but blame himself.

He should not have given his cake to her. Perhaps the effects might not have been as terrible as this if she had not eaten his share.

"Andy, you're going to be ok." He mumbled, seeing how his wife struggled with the drug in her system.

He could tell she was burning up as sweat broke out of her skin. He quickly adjusted the air conditioning, decreasing the room's temperature, expecting it would help her cool down.

"Don't leave me." He heard her murmur in her weakened and disoriented state.

Quickly, he lay beside her and cradled her body in his arms. "Don't worry. I'm here. I'm not leaving."

He couldn't help but wonder if she was dreaming in her current state. Nonetheless, he hoped his presence could alleviate the stress that her body and mind had to endure.

He just wanted to keep her comforted and safe. But he was not expecting what she said next. He could not help but wonder if he heard it correctly.

"I love you, Lucas!"

Was it real, or just his drug-induced imagination?

Thanks
