Chapter 7: Eight Years of Training(3)

Chapter 7: Eight Years of Training(3)

After traveling for a few months at full speed, Victor and Ryan finally reached the border of the Turing Empire.

A silhouette of a large city could be seen from hundreds of miles away, and that wasn't even the capital but a trading city near the mountains.

Victor's destination was the capital city. When he and Ryan entered the border of the Empire, they found themselves surrounded by armored soldiers.

Victor scoffed and released some of his strength, shocking the guards. He was a Great Knight, and his power level demanded some respect.

The guards weren't knights but only ordinary humans who had trained. The leader of the guards bowed and apologized to Victor. Even though they were only doing their duty, the power difference sometimes demanded more than duty. Even if the Knight killed them, he would only need to pay some fine to the Empire since the last thing it lacked was manpower for guards.

The capital city would take months to travel on foot, so Victor decided to hire a carriage that would reduce the time by more than half.

To rent the carriage, Victor needed to enter the trading city. It took around a day for him and Ryan to reach the gates of the city.

It was deep in the night, and yet, people were entering and leaving the city, showing the magnificence of the city. Victor couldn't use his Knight status here as the guards stationed here were royal guards, the elitist force of the Empire.

The trading city was no less valuable than the capital city, so royal guards were stationed in the city to guard it.

Victor's luck was great, as he didn't have to stay in line for long as one of the guards stationed at the wall recognized him. The guard then sent someone to inform the leader.

"Haha, my friend Victor, what are you doing here?" Around five minutes later, an armored man with a similar physique to Victor stepped out of the gate and approached the duo.

Victor also smiled when he saw who the man was. When Victor was young, he traveled a lot, so he also made many friends.

The armored man approaching them was one of the friends made by Victor during one of his journeys.

"It seems the Empire really likes you," Victor commented and embraced the armored man in a bear hug.

"Haha!" The man laughed, and then his eyes fell on Ryan, who didn't look well.

"Young prince, do you like the food?" The man asked. Since it had been a long time since he met his friend, the man invited Victor and Ryan into his house for the night and dinner.

Ryan mindlessly nodded as he chewed over the cooked chicken.

"Did you find out who caused the incident?" The armored man's face grew solemn, and he asked.

The incident with Ryan had become famous across the neighboring Kingdoms and the Turing Empire since rarely did terrorist attacks occur on a prince.

Victor shook his head, taking a large bite out of the chicken.

Time flew by, and soon the dinner came to an end.

One of the sons of the man took Ryan to show him the room where he would sleep, while the man and Victor went to the terrace.

"Your nephew doesn't look good," The man commented.

"I know, I committed a mistake…" Victor responded and then shared what happened with Ryan on the mountain.

Sigh!

"The incident must have taken a huge toll on him to have him accept this lifestyle at such a young age," The man commented with a deep sigh.

"Does Henry know about this?"

"No, I don't dare to tell him," Victor responded with a helpless smile.

***

"Thank you for your hospitality!" Ryan thanked Victor's friend after a nudge from Victor. His tone was mindless, and his face was blank.

"Young prince, if you ever come back, you must come here," The man smiled and patted Ryan's shoulder.

After leaving the house, Victor and Ryan went to the carriage section. It wasn't Victor's first time coming here, so he recognized the roads.

There were different kinds of carriages in the trading city. There were horse carriages, warhorse carriages, and there were also automatic carriages.

The automatic carriages were the most expensive due to the comfort they provided to the traveler, while the warhorse carriage was the fastest.

Since Ryan and he were knights, and their bodies weren't the same as ordinary humans, Victor booked a warhorse carriage, paying seven gold coins for the complete travel.

Since the gold coins carried by Victor were from the Vechnos Kingdom and the Turing Empire's gold coins were heavier in weight and had more value, Victor had to pay for fourteen Vechnos gold coins.

Soon the journey to the capital city began, and after traveling for twenty days, the carriage finally reached the gate of the capital city, Faraway.

There were fourteen gates installed around the city to maintain the outflow and inflow of people. Ten of the fourteen gates were entry gates, and each gate had a long queue.

Fortunately for Ryan and Victor, there was a fifteenth gate that was only there for knights. Since Ryan and Victor were knights, the carriage entered the city through that gate after paying the entry fee.

"Where do you want to go in the city, my lords?" The carriage driver asked since the payment was due when he dropped the two off at their location inside the city.

"Take us to an inn," Victor commanded since they had been traveling for days. It was time to take a fresh bath and then sleep.

The carriage driver nodded, and then, following his memory, he took the duo to the seventeenth street.

Seventeenth Street housed ninety percent of the inns in Faraway, and soon the carriage stopped in front of the largest inn.

"My lord, we have arrived at the Great Stay Inn," The driver informed Victor.
