Chapter 14: Shocking News!
Seated on his throne, Henry smiled when he saw Carlos getting pushed back.
Ryan wanted to take advantage of the attack, so he pushed forward and slashed again. Carlos didn't dare act like the last time and dodged the strike while slashing himself.
It was as if a giant was falling on Ryan when he saw the sword.
Ryan moved backward, the sword tearing through the air. Carlos' control over his sword was great, so he immediately pulled it back as soon as he missed it.
Ryan immediately charged forward, his sword slashing through the air. Carlos met the attack head-on this time; their swords collided, creating a loud sound. Sparks flew as the two exchanged blows one after another.
As they exchanged one blow after another, sometimes there was a victor, while sometimes the clash resulted in an equal.
Ryan's training over the past month showed its benefit, as without it, Ryan would have long lost the battle. Carlos had more than a decade of experience at the level of High Knight, so his body movements were in his control.
Carlos' experience and durability showed their advantage, as Ryan was the first to feel the exhaustion of the battle. Even a tiny bit of slowness in his movement was caught by Victor.
Ryan had surpassed all the expectations Victor had for the battle. Victor never expected Ryan to win the fight since Carlos was his deputy, and he knew well how strong Carlos was. Victor was still confident that Ryan would be the one to lose, but he had seen a glimpse of what kind of fighter Ryan would be, and Victor felt proud of it.
As the battle progressed, both sides started to feel exhaustion, Ryan more so. Ryan noticed that Carlos was slowly overpowering him as he was losing his strength at a higher rate than Carlos.
High Knights had lifeseed in their bodies that they could use to activate the berserk mode. Ryan decided it was time for it, and the next moment, the aura around him suddenly changed.
Carlos felt danger for his life when he saw Ryan, shocking him. Like Victor, Carlos also believed that he would be the victor between himself and Ryan, and he was confident of defeating Ryan that had released his lifeseed. But at that moment, he knew how wrong he was.
Ryan looked like a beast after releasing the lifeseed, forcing Carlos to do the same if he wanted to have a battle.
Ryan's eyes blazed with fury as he slashed. Ryan's movement had returned to its original state after releasing the lifeseed. The High Knights could control their movement, but Ryan wasn't accustomed to the state, so he went berserk.
Ryan's opponent, Carlos, looked perfectly in control of his movement as he skillfully blocked Ryan's attack.
Ryan's movements were lightning fast and reckless, so it was almost impossible to predict what Ryan would do next. Carlos decided not to waste his time thinking about what Ryan would do. He instead chose only to defend and attack at the right moment.
Carlos kept countering Ryan's attack with grace. As the battle raged on, the strain on their bodies grew, especially Ryan's.
Despite that, neither of the two showed any signs of stopping, and the sound of metal on metal echoed throughout the arena.
As the battle was going on, Victor and Henry had ugly expressions spread across their faces.
***
Carlos didn't look happy with the way the battle was going on. He could end it immediately by cutting Ryan, but he couldn't, as Ryan was a prince. But the scenes at the battle clearly showed that Ryan had become crazy.
Ryan's body had started to bleed, but instead of calming down, Ryan was becoming crazier, and at the same time, his attack strength was growing.
Carlos could suffer a severe injury if he didn't stop Ryan on time. Suddenly, his face changed as Ryan charged at him while his eyes were red.
Carlos's face turned pale as Ryan was too quick for him to defend. He could see death approaching him when suddenly Victor appeared behind Ryan and hit the back of his neck.
The next moment, Ryan crashed to the ground, instantly losing consciousness.
Victor didn't say anything, grabbed Ryan, and left the arena. Henry and Loraine followed after Victor.
"If anything happens to my son, I will kill you," Loraine threatened Henry, forgetting the majesty of the King as she couldn't think straight.
Henry didn't even hear what Loraine was saying as the conversation he had with Victor a month ago, pushing him to make the decision to train Ryan, played out in his mind.
According to Geller, the Fastiareporen would cause a violent tendency in the one it infected. After that, there was no other way but to kill the infected.
While proceeding toward the room, Henry only prayed that Ryan would be alright.
Henry hadn't even stepped inside the room when suddenly one of the guards rushed toward him with a hurried face.
Henry was in no mood to listen to the guard, so he knocked him away and stepped inside the room, with Loraine following him.
In the room, Ryan was unconscious on a bed while the doctor was applying ointments on the swelling across his body. Victor was standing near the bed with a solemn face, looking at Ryan.
"Is it that virus?" Henry asked soon after stepping inside the room.
"I don't know," Victor responded, still looking at Ryan on the bed.
"What are you talking about?" Loraine didn't understand what the two were talking about, so he angrily asked.
Henry was in no mood to listen to her complain, so he turned around and looked at her with a deathly stare, chilling Loraine to her bones.
Henry had become a scholar and always remained calm, but his fighting strength and brutality in the past before the birth of Ryan weren't hidden from anyone.
***
While Henry was consumed by what happened with his son, a shocking piece of news spread across the neighboring Kingdoms.
"The Kingdoms of Joran and Tringal have been conquered by a hooded figure!"
