He had a few ideas on how he would shield Daedric Artifacts from their creator's influence, but he was far away from actually making that a reality... He needed to study this world and its magic a lot more before he'd start antagonizing its native evil gods, plus, Illococoo's research into the Thu'um would help in this front.
As for what he was going to do about the Thieves Guild? He'd ignore them for now. This would hopefully buy him more time for when the betrayed Nightingale started searching for him.
With his decision on that matter decided, he turns his attention to a work in progress... Not long ago he'd gotten in contact with Eorlund's friend, Eddith, who was an expert in tailoring and was responsible for creating the robes used in the College.
He'd met her to have some robes made from the Ebonthread he had, and the woman had eagerly accepted after he'd shown her the material. She had wanted to try enchanting it as well, but he'd stopped her, saying that he wanted to do that himself.
It wasn't just his pride either, he believed that his enchantments would eventually trump whatever she or Sergius could manage... Even if it took a while.
Tailoring usually took longer than Smithing, depending on what the project was, which was why he was surprised to hear that she'd already completed the robes...
Michael steps through the entrance of her workshop and is stunned to see her at work for the first time... Eddith was an old Imperial woman with skin as white as most Nords and greying hair. She sat against her chair in a casual manner, a book in her left hand and a tankard filled with what looked like wine in the other.
In front of her was a big wooden desk that had many sewing needles floating above it, each working on part of the fabric... It was honestly amazing to watch as a College Master Robe gets made at an incredibly fast pace.
Though, was surprised him more was the fact that Eddith wasn't using any spells... "Are those needles enchanted?" he asks, leaning forwards with interest... Only for the woman to shout at him, "Stand back you buffoon! Or do you want to become part of the robe!?"
Michael's feet carry him away from it before he realised, "What do you mean? Aren't you controlling them?"
She nods, "No, I WAS controlling them. It's a specialized Telekinesis spell that gives them set orders..."
"Meaning, they wouldn't stop if I shoved my face into them..." Michael mutters aloud, realising just how close he'd come to becoming a living tapestry... "Isn't this kind of cheating though? You'd be lynched if other tailors found out about this..." he says, semi-sarcastically, as he wasn't sure how offended other tailors would be.
She shrugs, "That's their problem, but if they think they can invade the College, send them my regards... Oh! Before that, your robes were completed." she says, tossing her book to the side and downing her wine before standing up. She makes her way to a cupboard and retrieves five grey robes.
Michael had commissioned an Ebonthread robe for each of his companions, Maria included. He's handed the one made for himself and looks it over. Unlike the original dark black colour of the Ebonthread fabric, these robes were a dark grey.
All of them were made to be functional in combat, allowing free movement while providing the maximum possible protection. In a similar manner to how his Ebony scale mail armour was designed. Each had hoods, and the inside of their sleeves was designed to hold one scroll each, mostly intended for emergency purposes.
There were a few differences between them. The girl's robes looked like a cross between what the Psijic monks and the Greybeards would wear, they were equipped with Ebonthread trousers and a robe that hung down to mid-calf level. Other than that, he'd had Tiffania's hood altered to allow pockets for her ears.
Apparently, it was uncomfortable for them to be restricted, and her ears would get rashes or sores if rubbed against the hood fabric for too long. Thus, he'd had the inside of each robe padded in silk. It added a unique component to the outfit. Plus, it'd look cute when she had her hood up... Like the cat-eat hats that people wore in his original world.
Michael's armour was slightly different, with a shorter robe that only hung just above his knees, and opened in the front to allow further leg movement. It was designed to be worn with the armour that Eorlund had made for him. There were pockets and leather bands that'd hug the armour closer to his body.
This would help distribute the weight from his waist and shoulders to the rest of his body, making it all much more comfortable to wear... The only negative would be how annoying it'd be to put on and take off.
All in all, the robes were very nice.
Eddith smiles to herself as she watches him look them over, "Hmph! You better like them, I had to get specially crafted ebony needles commissioned just for this!"
Michael chuckles, "Well, I'm sure Eorlund enjoyed the work."
She laughs with him, "Hardly! The man despises anything that isn't armour or weaponry. Typical Nord that one."
"These are amazing... Are you sure the payment is enough?" he asks, he'd tried to pay in gold, but Eddith had refused and instead asked for a small cutting of Ebonthread that'd go towards her research. Despite her trade, she was still a scholar of the College, though, she'd dropped everything when he'd shown her the Ebonthread... Maybe she'd try to recreate it or something.
She shakes her head, "Trust me, it's more than enough for my needs. Besides, it was fun trying to work with this material."
"If you say so... Alright then, I'll be going, I'm sure the girls'll be just as amazed with the robes as I am." he says, giving her a brief wave before departing with the robes in hand.
