Unbound Familiar

An avid gamer nerd's dreams come true in another brutal yet lucky? fashion. Follow him as he does his best not to die in laughably humiliating ways, all while trying to escape his abrupt and unwanted servitude. Will his knowledge of the world he finds himself help him succeed? Will he return home? Will evolve past his title of 'Dog'? Read and find out! This will be another multiversal world-hopping story, similar to my other one, EBW. I'll not spoil the surprise of the first world, but Skyrim will eventually be involved... And no, I'll not be adhering to plot, instead destroying it and hopefully not butchering the original story in the process. "As you should with how many memories you've taken from my kin."

"I remember you, enslaving people. Burning, people. I remember seeing you slaughter tens of thousands of innocents, and laughing about it." Surtr lets out a rumbling growl.

Paarthurnax lowers his head, "And you remember true. That was once me, but no longer. My days of thur, tyranny, are over. I sought to better myself, find drem, peace."

"And why should I believe you when I saw you through another's eyes destroy fellow Nords!?"

"Leave him alone! Nax has been kind ever since I met him!" the blue dragon exclaims in a childish female voice.

"Quiet, young one. He is right, my redemption is long, and not over... Never over." Paarthurnax solemnly says.

"Hmph, how can you say that when you tasked yourself to battle our elder brother, Alduin." the green-scaled dragon remarks.

"And who are you, dragon? What is your reason for being here? Redemption like him?" Surtr asks.

The dragon shakes his head, "I am Durnehviir, I was left here by my rider to avoid scaring the mortals below."

"And I'm Sylphid! Hi Surtr!"

"Rider...? And how do you know my name!?" Surtr demands.

"Someone who claims to be mortal despite my suspicions, Michael Tahlin." Durnehviir states.

Illococoo nods her head, "Big bro saved Viir from some evil things!"

"Use my full name if you must refer to me, young one." the dragon sighs.

"M-Michael Tahlin!?" Surtr stutters out. How was this possible? He'd thought he had surpassed Michael long ago, yet even now he was finding surprises! He was THE Dragonborn! Yet Michael had subdued a dragon and made it his mount before he'd even considered it!

He picks up on Durnehviir's earlier words however and decides to probe that, "What did you mean, 'claims to be mortal'?"

"I mean, I suspect he is something far greater. He smells of death, as if a million souls had perished at his hands."

Paarthurnax nods, "He has the stench of rah, divinity about him. He may be the next, what was his name... Talos?"

"Talos..." Surtr utters, gripping his fists tightly, "Tiber Septim, the man that became a god. Dragonborn. That can't-..." he shakes his head, "Enough of this, I don't care if you're man or dragon, tell me of the shout used to defeat Alduin!"

...

"That, thing...? You ask much, mortal." Durnehviir growls.

"I don't give a shit, tell me!"

"Alas, Dovahkiin, we can't tell you." Paarthurnax states.

Surtr steps forwards threateningly, "You will tell me, or I'll claim more bones for my armoury!"

"Do you seek death, Dovahkiin? Because I will happily grant it!" Durnehviir leans forwards from his perch.

"Yeah! Stop being mean to Nax! You're being worse than a bandit!"

"Damned-"

"It is not that we won't teach you, Dovahkiin, it is that we can't teach you. The shout you seek evades our minds even if we had the knowledge before us. It is a shout that renders immortals, mortal, makes dov feel as man does."

"What does that even mean!? Stop speaking in riddles!"

"It means, no dragon can learn the shout, comprehend it, or even speak it. It is lost to time, dead with those who created it."

"Then what shall I do!? The world is at stake and this shout is the only thing that would save us!"

"You must do as your ancestors did. Utilise the kel, elder scroll. Find it, bring it here, and cast your mind into the past and learn it directly from them."

"And where do I find this Elder Scroll!? I see no reason it should even still be in Skyrim!"

"Big bro would probably know..." Illococoo remarks, prompting everyone to turn to her. "What? Big bro knows almost everything..."

"Even knowledge of elder scrolls?"

Illococoo tilts her head at him, "Yup, I think he has some too!"

"S-Some!? He possesses more than one!?"

She nods, "Yeah! Big bro's awesome!"

. . .

Arngeir rests a stronger than usual hand on his shoulder, "Then, you should travel to Winterhold and contact him. I ask you, on behalf of the Greybeards that you not reveal any of what you have learned today to outsiders..."

Surtr nods, "That's fine. As long as these dragons don't get in the way or start burning cities, they can live."

"Hmph, ass hole." Illococoo huffs as she hears this.

Durnehviir nods, "A strange phrase, but not wrong."

"Piss off you overgrown lizards. I've got a world to save, carry on squatting on this snowy wasteland." he says before beginning to leave.

"What does that make you then!? Body of a man and mind of a lizard!" Illococoo shouts after him.

Crescius Caerellius, the old Nord miner slowly carries ores between the hidden mine and the town of Raven Rock. Ever since the main mine had been shut down he'd been forced to make the arduous walk between the less rich and further away one...

On his fourth trip of the day however, he pauses as something catches his eye... A small group of people were making their way toward him, even following him as he tried to move out of their path.

"Do you need something?"

...

"Hello? Have I done something I bother you? I meant nothin' by it if I have?"

...

Crescius drops his pack of ores and increases his pace towards the city, but gets stopped as his arms lock in place... "M-Mage!?"

The group doesn't say anything and simply binds him with proper rope before carrying him away. Eventually, they bring him to some sort of creepy ruin with even more people around... They all watch as he's tied against a large central pillar that Crescius' swore was whispering something to him... "L-Let me go! You won't get away with this!"

"Just be quiet and listen." a short pink-haired woman states, and Crescius' mind blanks as he looks into her eyes.

An hour passes, and Crescius stands as he's untied. "What must be done?" he asks in a neutral tone, a far cry from his attitude earlier.

"Go back to Raven Rock, learn and relay what we want to know."

Crescius nods, "Aye!"
