The scent of the blood and the rolling of the heads thunking onto the wooden steps continued to remind her that nothing about her was normal. Yet, after so many times, she had finally began to take it in as something normal herself. How many of them died by her hands before she finally had the courage to fight back her controls as desperately as that time she had for Mo Li? Was it the same when the first one was sentenced to death with her own hands? In the end, she really can't tell.
In the end, even the position was something she accepted just so her schools can get the connections they needed for the children.
"Mister Xue?"
Lotus paused before she turned around and noticed that it was Mister Trein and Leona much to her surprise.
"Professor Trein, good morning." Lotus said respectfully, "Are you passing by because Leona decided to make the forest his new napping place?"
Leona scowled at her angrily, "What? Is there something wrong with me napping?"
Lotus hummed curiously, "Leona actually napped out here? Then, you've probably noticed. Was it enjoyable and quiet for you to be sleeping here?"
"Hah? What are you trying to say?" Leona frowned in dismay.
"I'm asking you if the area was so quiet that even you could sleep peacefully here during the day this past month." Lotus clarified.
"What does it look like?" Leona scowled in dismay at her attitude, "It's only been a few days."
A few days? What could have happened within the few days? And, why did Yuu not say anything? Curious, she decided to make deeper investigation while thinking of how to best make a report being the first message she would have sent since recovering her memories of this role. However, she held back that thought and decided it would be better to continue to act as clueless as possible for now.
"Well, that's fine if you don't spook Grim out of the blue, even if it was unintentional." She sighed and continued, "Grim is still unable to properly control his fire when he gets spooked really badly. It would become a terrible forest fire otherwise. Yuu and I are still trying to correct Grim's bad habit... You'll probably end up losing all that shade if that happens too. So please try not to spook him too much."
"Oh? So, Grim knew he was here as well?" Trein noted in surprise and frowned.
There was a flash of confusion in Leona's eyes before he sneered, "That depends if he can stop going after my tail, like a mouse."
Lotus sighed in disdain, "This again?"
"Lotus, we need to head back to class right now. You will have to continue your conversation another time." Trein interrupted.
"Got it. Sorry, sir." Lotus nodded and waved as she prepared to return to the hall of mirrors, "See you later!"
Seemingly disinterested in any response, the student rushed off rather carefreely and with her usual calm expression. However, Leona did not mind it this time as he glanced back at the construction again and recalled her words.
Why was she so curious of the construction of the dorm?
.....
Upon returning to the dorm, she noticed the bustling sound as Lotus noticed some of the Diasomnia students mention some things.
"Hey, have you heard?"
"Is it about that guy with the silver hair again?"
"What else?"
"Is it all that strange that he collapsed during training?"
Huh? Collapsed?
"Well, it is getting warmer. How is that any problem?"
"No, no! You have no idea, but, last year even when he was clearly tired, he's only ever fallen asleep in the middle of nowhere. He had never collapsed before!"
"If it's that serious, then maybe that freshman went to far with their spar?"
"Even if they spar a lot, he's never fainted before."
Hearing this, Lotus was surprised! The only person she could think that fits that detail could only be Silver. Did something happened due to her actions in her dream?
She pondered for a bit before deciding to return to her room. That was until she felt that someone reached out and grabbed her.
"Huh?" She turned around to see who it was and realized that it was the school nurse.
"Lotus, I'll be needing your assistance. Please come with me." The nurse stated calmly as he released her.
"Oh. Okay." She nodded and followed after him. It was only after reaching the third floor of this building that she had a pretty good feeling she knew why she was asked for help. They arrived at the door and the nurse knocked on it before it opened revealing a surprised Lilia as she walked in with the nurse.
Malleus, who was sitting next to the bed with a confused expression, was surprised to see her as well! He got up from his seat with a shocked expression, "Pe- Ahem, Lotus?"
Lotus glanced over to the bed and noticed that it was definitely Silver in the bed. His face seemed flushed which surprised her as Silver usually wasn't one to get sick easily. She turned to the Nurse who was confused and turned to Lotus, "Try and see if you can understand his symptoms."
Lotus nodded her head and walked over to the bed side before feeling his pulse. The skin was very warm and there was rashes running up his arms. Lotus was surprised. From what she knew of him, Silver normally has a unique perfect skin which she could only conclude was due to the fact that his lineage was blessed by the fairies. Swollen throat and struggle to breathe... She frowned and did a quick check up before thinking for a bit then opening her mouth, "Where is Sebek? Perhaps he recalls anything before Silver became like this?"
"Ah, we sent him to return to his club activities." Lilia responded, "Apparently, Silver was struggling to breath earlier and didn't seem well this morning."
She turned to the nurse with a look of confusion, "So, that medicine for allergy was not strong enough to fight it off."
The nurse nodded as he leaned back against the door seemingly satisfied with her answer as he frowned in concern, "That's right. I gave him some medication for allergy. However, it did no effect on him."
"Allergy?" Lilia looked to the nurse in bewilderment.
Lotus nodded, "Normally, eastern medication would be the last method for others to turn to if modern medication did not work... However, even I could tell that Silver developed a serious case of allergy."
"Normally, many people nowadays are allergic to something, such as dust, mites or even grass that produces scent in the morning from morning dews. However, the effects are very minor such as sneezing, coughing and an occassional fever. However, some stages are so deadly that it can threaten the lives of those afflicted with it."
"Unfortunately, Silver seems to be allergic to something. Question is... Why is he here and not at a hospital?" She turned to the nurse with a frown.
"It won't be a good idea if word got out that one of Malleus's retainers got sick." The doctor responded with a frown.
Lotus raised a brow but shook her head with a sigh, "Fine. What was the last thing he ate?"
"Mushroom risotto." The nurse responded.
"However, Silver has always had mushroom risotto. He's never had any reaction to it till now." Lilia pointed out with a frown.
Lotus nodded as she could recalled their last interaction and opened her mouth, "For now, giving him another dose of epinphrine injection would make it easier for him to breathe. However..."
She hesitated before thinking aloud, "He seemed to have had blessings of some sort. However, it strangely does not affect his health..."
"Blessings?" Lilia looked up in surprise before he frowned, "Well, he was blessed when he was just an infant many years ago. However, I don't think that blessing was for his health."
"So, Silver received a blessing back then..." Malleus hummed in surprise.
There was a long thought before Lotus rushed out of the room. After returning within five minutes, she hurriedly took out a potion and double checked his pulse. She dripped a drop of the potion into his mouth and tossed the rest to the nurse, "There. Is it possible to keep that potion in the nurse's office?"
The nurse sighed as he had long since gotten used to her impulsive behaviour before using magic to check the contents of the potion before he nearly jumped in bewilderment, "This! Isn't this a high concentration of the cooling potion?"
"Yup." Lotus nodded with a sigh, "All potions are made from diluting the ingredients necessary to create it. the entire process all required some form of liquid or water to dilute the potency of the potion making it safer to digest. However, what I learnt was that a long time ago, there was an outbreak of allergy in the east due to a new culture tradition implemented which caused more internal harm than good. However, it was discovered too late and the results was children grew up to having become more vulnerable to the clouds of ash and smog caused by fast advancement in technology during the era the east went through to try catching up to the technological achievements of other countries and not become weaker. The results was more people becoming terminally ill from the polluted air. Amongst the illness was the one that makes them highly allergic to an ingredient used to dye clothing and food into a bright red color. Some, just by being in contact with the ingredient, experience a loss of breath and pain that resulted from the lungs and throat puffing up as are the effects of serious cases of allergy. Without being able to breath, those people naturally ended up perishing. That was until one of them was desperate enough to take one of these potions and recovered enough to breath. Of course, the guy got too confident and, the next time he drank it again over some fever, he perished on the spot. Since Silver is still sixteen, just one drop is safe enough for him. If that guy had measured the amount properly as well, he could have lived too... But, really, these potions do not have the ability to cure fevers, so he will still have the fever regardless. The guy was just lucky the first time despite being over confident."
"Then, is Silver cured?" Malleus turned to her with a frown.
"Of course not." Lotus huffed with a frown, "We don't have access to advanced medical technology. This potion will have to act as a suppressant giving the patient the airway to breathe. Hm... To get rid of the source of the symptoms will be difficult."
"Seriously?", She grumbled and sighed in exasperation before she led the nurse out.
