“I’m okay,” Matt said. “Don’t worry about me. I’m just tired.” Matt threw his book bag on the couch and walked to the kitchen. “I haven’t eaten all day. Are you hungry?”
Food didn’t really appeal to him, but Brian sensed his brother’s unease. Allowing Matt to fuss over him was a sure fire way to make his brother feel better. “I could eat somethin’.”
“Good.” Matt collected all the ingredients for his famous subs, and Brian’s belly heaved. “Maybe just a light sandwich.”
Matt stared at him.
“I had a late lunch,” he lied.
Matt shrugged and put some of the stuff away, then focused on slathering bread with butter. “How was your day?” Matt asked.
Brian busied himself with making hot cups of coffee for them. It was his brother’s way of looking for some reassurance from him, and it was the least he could give him.
“Got through it alright.”
“And Henry?”
