Sarah:"Where is your legal guardian, and why aren't they here?"

This sentence would have freaked out the original Hector as he wouldn't know what to do or how to respond but for me this was the opportunity I was waiting for, although the original would not want to seek revenge I have no problem with doing exactly that I didn't care that they were family they screwed me out of my inheritance, my family home and any other valuables then threw me into the deep end of the slums only paying for the measly rent of the place I live while they lived in one of the upper districts never checking on me not caring for whether I lived or died.

Me:"I don't know I haven't seen them in years since they dumped me here and I don't know where they live (that's a lie) or how to contact them all I know was that my uncle said that he would only pay for this apartment until I turned eighteen after my uncle stole my inheritance and left me destitute"

Philip:"Why didn't you report this?"

Me:"Who would take the word of a child from the slums saying he was robbed by someone from the upper districts?"

Sarah & Philip:"....."

Sarah and Philip were left completely speechless as they couldn't deny what I said while at the same time they were enraged by the callous disregard that was shown by my guardians Philip excused himself than pulled out his phone and began making calls while Sarah took me to a nearby dinner and ordered a few things and struggled to keep her composure and failing miserably at it pretending to be nonchalant as she asked about my life but each answer seemed to anger her more since none of that was directed at me I acted oblivious before long Philip returned with a scrawny greasy looking man in glasses and a clearly expensive suit who fawned over Sarah the entire time even though he was supposed to be here for my case when Sarah and Philip excused themselves the smile vanished as I was the only one left.

greasy social worker (gsw):"So what is your sob story?" zero interest in his voice

Me:"Not even going to pretend to be interested?"

gsw:"Interested in what? Another sob story about how life is unfair? I'm a upper level manager from the the upper districts the only reason I came was because of Sarah and now she is gone so I don't see why I should give a shit me pretending to listen to your whining is so I can say I did something when I meet her later"

Me:"That is too bad you see Sarah has taken a special interest in my particular case so much so that she even gave me her personal contact info should something or someone imped it"

gsw:"Bullshit she never gives out her contact information even I don't have it!"

Not bothering to refute him I just call Sarah on a phone she got me to call her.

Sarah:"Hector? We just left"

Me:"I know but the social worker you left me with..."snatched the phone out of my hand

gsw:"Just wanted to let you know that I will personally oversee this case personally and make sure that he gets justice for all his claims!"

Sarah:"Thank you Randall now can you please hand the phone back to Hector?"

Randall:"Of course it was rude of me to take the phone from him I just got too excited about the case and acted out of character" he then handed me back the phone with a nervous look

Me:"It's as Randall said I just wanted to thank you for introducing him to me"

Sarah:"Glad I could help I'll be calling to check up on you every now and then until this is sorted out"

Me:"I will do my best to keep you informed thank you for everything bye"

after ending the call

Me:"So do still not give a shit?"

Randall:"Boy you should have your pancreas looked at because I think you might be a hero Sarah never gets this involved in any case"

In this world heroes are individuals that are able use unique abilities without cultivation as their pancreas naturally utilizes the natural energy of the world they were the original defenders of humanity during the chaotic era when natural energy first returned as their pancreas acted as a natural spirit like the cores found in monsters it is rare condition that naturally sets them apart from others although it doesn't guarantee what kind of ability will manifest or how many although research indicates that those that decedend from those with hero genes are likely to inherit their ability.
