CHAPTER 5: N*ggas ain't sh*t

The Windhoek roads got to their busy state again as it was 5 o'clock in the evening, and since everyone else is coming from work and couldn't wait to get home, as usual it was a rush hour.

The traffic control officers weren't making the situation any better, because they had a road block set up to pull off un-road worthy vehicles and unlicensed drivers from the road.

The ladies had planed a girl's night out and time for them to catch up because everyone has been so busy with their lives, there really was no time for them to see each other. The Agreement they have was that they meet at at Joe's beer-house, usually their favourite hangout spot.

Valery knocked off from her work, finding her car parked in her designated parking, which added some form of happiness to her day. She took her key out of her purse walking to her car with a smile on her face and unlocked her fancy Jolion, unknowingly that while she is living the dream, her friend on the other side is having a shitty day and is still seated at the mall, waiting for her husband to pick her up with hope that he must be back from Okahandja by now.

Anna has been waiting for the Husband as he was supposed to babysit that night, while she gets to hang out with the girls. Her husband finally got home and found his mother in-law in the sitting room, Anna came to meet him halfway in the door, well dressed, and carrying her car keys and purse, and Their daughter, ready to hand the kid over and leave the house.

"Hey baby, you are leaving already?" Asked Ernest looking at his wife walking to the coat hanger.

"Yeah baby, I'm leaving now, you're even late by the way, you should have been here long ago, but thanks for helping me baby sit." Said Anna taking her coat and then kissed the husband.

"You're welcome baby, but then maybe let's call a sitter, I have forgotten that I have agreed to babysit tonight, and I've agreed to have a night with the boys also, we have tender papers to fill out, and money matters to discuss." Said Ernest, taking the daughter from Anna, and kissing Anna on the forehead.

"It is so late now babe, we wont get a sitter this time, so I guess in this case, we are left with no other choice but to let my momma baby sit, if she gone be watching TV, she might as well help out with Aishe." Said Anna going outside to her car.

"Baby your momma here?" Asked Ernest and peeping in and seeing her and then immediately looking away as she spotted him.

"You'll survive baby, this is your fault, if you came on time, I would have dropped my Momma, but look on the bright side, she is now baby sitting on your behalf." Said Anna starting her car and reversing out of the driveway with her windows rolled down.

"But baby, you know you promised to take her back to her old age home!" Said Ernest looking back in the house and then looking at Anna, with frowns on his face, afraid of his mother in-law.

"Just like you promised to be here on time babe, I guess promises are meant to be broken." Said Anna, smiling, closed her car window and then sped off.

Paulina, dressed to kill as usual, walks out of her apartment, finding a bunch of papers on her doorstep from the mailman as well as an eviction note from her landlord, she has been defaulting on her payment for quite sometime and eviction caught up with her.

"Just give me 1 more moth for god's sake." She said as she takes in the papers, put them on the counter and with her clutch purse held in the armpit, she locked her apartment.

Her apartment was in a triple stories court on the second floor, she took to stairs and got down to her car, opened and then went in, she took her lipstick and fixed herself in the mirror, smacking her lips, she took her keys and put in the ignition and then started her car. While fixing her mirrors, the petrol light suddenly came on, and it has been on for a couple of days so if she was to drive to Joe's with her Magnite, it wasn't going to bring her back home, that's assuming it reached Joe's Beer-House.

"Shit!" She said hitting the steering wheel out of anger, then breathed out loud with her one hand over her eyes. She tucked her hair behind her ear collected herself and turned the car off then removed her clutch purse and then got out of the car. She opened the gate to the court and in her heels, walked to the road to get cab.

The demoralised Emma still seated on her parking seat checked her phone and the time was already heading to 7. Usually when Denis is late its mostly with 30 minutes or 45, he is never late with an hour, and today it has been an hour and minutes. Emma figured that maybe due to the argument they had in the morning and the tough time Emma had given to him, Denis is probably somewhere stressed and feeling bad, and will not pick her up that night. Although she had no money, there was no way Emma was going to go home, as she thought she would just get more miserable if she was to go home, so she took her bag, threw it on her shoulders and started her walk to Joe's beer house, because thrive is thrive.

The Ladies weren't the only ones going to thrive in joe's beer house, and for some reason, Denis wasn't with the boys discussing the business plan Ernest said they will be having. He instead was having his moment at Joe's Beer-house and as Emma thought, he was angry and wasn't even thinking of picking her up. He really was downing the mugs, to a point where even he himself wasn't sure whether he went to Okahandja that morning as per plan or not.

Denis falling from side to side came out of the bar looking on both sides while holding on to the entrance door and then heading to his bus when he bumped into Lucia, dropping her car keys. Denis although still drunk, was still being a gentleman from the hood, he bent and picked up the keys then handed them over.

"Well well well, if it isn't the humble cab driver, hello daddy?" Said Lucia taking her car keys and remembering Denis.

Denis looked at Lucia for a little while and he finally remembered her.

"I don't want to be insulted again this evening lady, I'm already here trying to drown that embarrassment so please not tonight." Said Denis drunk walking to his bus and removing his keys from the pocket and looking for the bus key in the bunch.

"No, No, No, look, I'm sorry, I would like to apologise for my behaviour this morning, that was my fault and I am sorry to you and your customer, I shouldn't have celled her ugly, that was so uncalled for." Said Lucia blocking Dennis and looking at him in the face as he stands, holding her purse in front of her, and trying to seduce Denis.

"Apology accepted, so we are cool, I have managed to calm my customer down, and its true, you shouldn't have called her Ugly." Said Denis and opened his bus, scooting his way past Lucia.

"Well, she didn't seem calm today when we met in the shop." Said Lucia, mumbling the words as Denis gets into his bus.

"Pardon me?" Asked the drunk Dennis turning his bus on and looking at Lucia.

"Never mind, my name is Lucia, can I buy you a drink to make it up to you? I feel so terrible Mr cab guy, can I call you that?" Asked Lucia touching Denis's hands on the steering wheel looking at his face.

"If you're buying me a drink, you can call me anything you want, Miss Mercedes Lady." Said Denis, jumped out of the bus and held Lucia by hand also.

Just then 2 cars following each other belonging to Valery and Anna drove into the parking lots and Anna being in front, stopped midway in the road, and Then Valery not seeing in front, she decided to hoot, but Anna wasn't budging, so Valery Reversed, slid a bit to the side and then she spotted Denis and also just stopped the car looking at Denis who was too drunk to spot them actually talking to Lucia.

"You want to make it up to me huh?" Turned Dennis and looking at Lucia, after thinking a little probably about his morning argument.

"I felt bad about what I did and would like to make it up to you." Said Lucia and held Dennis hands, Making a seductive face.

"Well, if you're going to make it up to me, we are going to another bar, I am tired of Joe's Beer-house." Said Denis smirking and holding Lucia's hands.

"Okay papi, we can then get to know each other better." Said Lucia moving closer to Denis.

"So I suggest you drive and I follow? I don't think we would want to come back here for a car." Said Dennis smirking and holding Lucia's hands.

They broke up the hand play they were having, and as if it was luck, because Denis had no idea that Emma was coming to joe's that night, they both got into their cars and drove away.

Valery and Anna came from behind the parked cars as they were eaves dropping in on the conversation Denis and Lucia had, after they parked their cars a while back.

"That mother f*cker!" Said Valery holding her purse and crouching from behind a big bus peeping as the cars drive away.

"I do not in any way believe this." Said Anna also coming from the back after ensuring that the cars left. The girls stood there looking at the Mercedes and the kombie, shaking their heads in disbelief until the cars turned to get to the road and disappeared from their eyes.

"I'm going to tell Emma that Denis is cheating on her." Said Valery taking her phone from her purse and searched for Emma and then put her phone by the ear calling Emma.

In a little distance from the entrance to the bar, a Gondwana competition was going on as valentines was approaching, such competitions of winning trips to designated lodges of this organisation always happen and this year was also no different. While They wait for the phone to ring, one Gondwana competition promoter came to them with a fundraising like paper asking if the girls would like to enter into a competition.

"Yes we would like to enter the competition, y'all better not just pick your friends through." Anna responded as she took out Ten dollars from her purse and handed it over as the payment was N$5 per person.

The Gondwana promoter took down their names and numbers which he wrote on a page while Valery was just busy on the phone, which finally went through.

"Girl, where are you?" Asked Valery ready to tell it all and paused waiting for response from Emma, holding her purse with one hand and her phone with the other.

"Okay get here girl, we have something to tell you, and its news girl, news!" Said Valery and hung up with an angry face as if mad at Denis, then they walked into joe's beer house, the place was still as elegant as ever, with its Golden lighting set up, the representation of The culture, the fusion between Africa and worldwide backpackers, thus it's always a variety of races to be found in there, whom are properly intertwining, and the the fact that they sell great Windhoek Draught Namibian Beer, they were a hotspot for mingling.

Coming from the corner of the road, passing by a riverbed and finally reaching the big Multichoice building, Emma could finally see Joe's beer house from a distance, and someone getting dropped and upon checking well, she noticed that it was Paulina being dropped off by a cab, but was a little distant to actually call her.

She however though, wondered why she didn't come driving her car. Valery and Anna, already inside the bar where busy taking shots, as they where getting ready to come break the news to their friend, the moment Paulina got to the table.

"Girl, you wont believe who we saw here." Said Anna as soon as Paulina arrived at the table, before she could even sit.

"Spill it girl, this is why we always catch up, who did y'all see? Hertha Elama or someone like that? I heard she is loaded." Said Paulina putting her bag on the table and smirking, pulls out her chair and sat to listen to the gist with her nails well done.

"Its nothing like that girl, and yes Hertha is loaded but its not her we talking about, we talking about Denis cheating on Emma, with some classy chick." Said Valery spilling the beans and waving her hands in the air.

"That mother f*cker!" Said Paulina with a low tone and open mouthed looking at Both Anna and Valery, not believing the news she got with her sleek hair and big round earrings shaking as she looks at the ladies from one face to the next.

"That is exactly what I said bootch." Said Valery hitting the table and getting a high five from Anna, making a point to Paulina as they both turned and looked at her.

"I think I need this." Said Paulina as she picks up a shot of vodka, drank it in one gulp and replaced the glass and took another that she gulped down to actually calm her nerves.

"Wait, did you guys tell her yet?" Asked Paulina Looking at Anna holding an empty shot glass with one hand raised in the air probing for answers.

"No, we are waiting for her to get here, and for some reason, she is late and we feared that if we tell her over the phone, we wont know how she will react to that, or better yet where she is." Responded Anna, and kind of picking up a worrying vibe from Paulina as she took another shot.

"Okay, y'all will have to tell her though coz I didn't witness sh*t." Said Paulina drinking more shots and looking at her friends, as she noticed them looking at her.

"Girl are you okay?" Asked Anna concerned, holding Paulina's hand from taking another shot.

"Yeah I'm okay, just a busy day with the book and publishers you know, and then now here we are again having that bastard cheating on our friend." Said Paulina withdrawing her hand from Anna and not taking any shot anymore and actually calming down.

"We are so sorry for that, but for all its worth, we can't wait for your next book girl, we are so excited and proud of you so tell us a bit about it." Said Valery hands folded with a huge smile proud of Paulina as in the whole squad, Paulina was her best friend.
