Chapter 1: Accident

I saw a rabid rat being eaten alive by a stray cat black and thought to myself.

"Such a shame... Now the cat will die from rabies" the young boy lampooned before grabbing a small shovel on his side and started digging into the ground to bury a dead puppy.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air, the young boy then wiped the sweat from his forehead head and dropped a white flower unto the crude grave.

"Another one dead..."

"I'm very sorry, I can't help you, the world is cruel and you didn't even live long enough to witness it..."

"Such a shame..."

The boy made a silent prayer before grabbing the small shove again and started digging up an even bigger hole on the ground just right close to where he buried the puppy.

"If only he just listened."

The young boy spoke to himself before continuing on his work.

After a hour of digging the young boy was able dig up a hole just big enough to fit a fully grown adult male.

"This should be enough"

Seeing his hard work the young boy assured himself before climbing back up the hole and looked at a mysteriously large sack on his right side coldly and then quickly kicked it towards the pit and then started filling it up all over again.

"Now that I killed the old man, how should I get rid of the evidence?" The boy put on a thinking pose.

"Why not I just burn down the house? No, it would be suspicious they would be able to track down that the fire is not caused naturally and I can't just buy a gallon of hydrogen peroxide to clean up the bloody mess, hell where am I even going to get it in the first place?!..."

The young boy sighed in defeat before reminiscing time when he was just a 21 year old man watching Frieren: the last journey at the comfort of his apartment not having a single worry in the world, expect for the time when he was almost evicted because he failed to pay his rent in time.

"And to think out of all the worlds I could be reincarnated too, I got reborn in Frienen's world and became a demon..."

The young boy grimaced knowing that the main character of the story has a keen hatred of demons and will one hundred percent vaporize a demon child in a blink of a eye using her anti-demon Zoltrak magic.

*Hais*

"Can't really do anything about the old hag, I just hope that my death will be painless if she and I meet face to face..."

Slapping his cheeks to stay focused, the young boy checked his surroundings to check if anyone was observing him or watching him.

"A small village from the south lands, called "Elmsdorf" the population is only about 27 people including children..."

The young boy stopped looking at his surroundings and went inside the stone house that looked like it came from the middle ages just behind him.

'if the old man didn't try to kill me first, I wouldn't have to be in this mess...'

The young boy regretted accidentally showing the old man his horns by instinctively removing his hood, resulting in him having to prematurely silence him so that the other villagers won't go into a frenzy and report him to the church or even worse, a certain white haired old hag with an uncanny lust for magical books and spells caught wind that a demon child was currently living in a village in the south lands.

'He was good old man, he knew I was a threat to the village the moment he saw my horns and took up a gamble to heroically sacrifice himself to kill me. he was also the one who invited me to the village too.'

'If only I was just given a chance to explain that I wasn't evil in nature, maybe he wouldn't had died in self defense...'

"I can't cry over spilled milk now... What's done is done."

After a minute of contemplation, the young boy started rummaging the entire house for anything that he can potentially use when living in the forest.

*Clank!*

*Crack*

*Clank*

*Break!*

"Holy shit, it's soy sauce!" The young boy exclaimed before pocketing the valuable condiment.

"Sugar!"

"And even Salt! holy hell the old man is rich!"

Smiling in anticipation the young boy pocketed all of the valuable spices in his old hide bag before heading to a room on what seems like a master bedroom.

*Creak*

*Clank*

*Creak*

"Jackpot"

After checking each of the cabinets and drawers of the room the young boy looked under the bed and was able to find a simple wooden box and greedily smiled.

*Cough*

*Cough*

'I'm sorry old man, I hope the goddess will forgive me for pocketing your life savings. It's only fair right?'

Putting his small body under the bed the young boy was able to pull it out and was able to see some magic circles engraved on top of it making the box unable to open.

'A magic seal?'

The young boy started inspecting the box for any abnormalities and wasn't able to find anything.

'Do I need to chant something to open it up? I barely know jack shit about magic'

'Why not I try some magic chants?'

"Avada Kedavra!"

"Open Sesame!"

"Hocus pokus yor dikus is liticus"

The magic seal didn't have any noticeable difference

'Ah, it was worth a shot'

After a second of brain storming the young boy had an idea.

'Maybe the blood of the owner can be the key to removing the seal?'

The young boy hopped up into a standing position and started walking to the living room where most of the furniture is covered in the blood of the past resident then rubbed some of it on his index finger before going back to the bedroom.

'I hope this works, if not, then all of those magical novels lied to me!'

Smearing the blood unto the magical seal the young boy waited for any qualitative changes to the box to occur.

*Pshhh*

Lo and behold the magical seal started to disappear from the box like it was slowly fading away to nothing.

'It actually worked!'

The young boy made a wide eyed expression before making a greedy smile and opening the box to find an assortment of items.

"Hmm, a book maybe it's a grimoire, sadly I can't read it, a bag of coins, a silver-ish dagger, some weird transcripts and a set colored rocks ranging from red to violet"

"Looking at this materials I can guess that the old man must had been a mage in the past maybe even a ninth class mage"

'Then why didn't he use any magic when he was trying to kill me? Maybe he thought that a demon child only need a simple chocking to kill? If It wasn't for the rusty dagger I found in a old cave then that would've been the end of little old me...'

Pocketing his spoils the young boy immediately left the house quietly leaving the bloody crime scene in peace.

The next day the young boy was able to return to his home in the forest where he is currently living inside a very hollowed out large tree with an round inconspicuous rock being used as a door and started to account for the things he was able to bring back.

'lets see, condiments check, book check, magic colored rocks check, silver dagger check'

Closing the entrance to his humble abode, Ishida breath a sigh of relief

'phew, I made it back safe and sound, I made sure I didn't leave any tracks'

"I hope nothing bad happens, I really don't want to leave again..."

The young boy carefully drops his hide bag on the side of his leaf mat bed and took out a notebook made from paper he got when exploring some ruins and caves in the area and a piece of charcoal to start writing on his diary.

(Day 1: My name is Ishida Ashi, 21 years old, after a stroke of good luck or bad luck it seems like I was transported?, ah no, transmigrated into another world... Currently I don't know where I'm and as of right now I'm stuck in some sort of forest.)

(Day 3: Through the help of my experience of being in the boy scout and camping I was able to find some edible berries and a clean sustainable water source that I can drink from. And holy shit I was small horns on my head! Looking at my appearance I seem to look almost the same with my past human self with black short hair and whitish skin excluding the fact that I have horns and black emotionless eyes where no light shines from it.)

Skipping through some of the pages Ishida quickly went to the recent pages to write.

(Day 12: I discovered a monster that has clear resemblance to a slime in famous fantasy media and killed it using fire from a torch that I brought, since from what I knew from some games and media, slimes are sometimes very weak to fire attacks or breaking there core or something.)

(Day 34: I met a human girl, when hunting, she seems to be able to understand what I'm saying even though I'm speaking in English, I asked her some questions like, what is the world called, name of the continents, name of kingdoms and any important figures that could be noted.)

(Day 35: oh god I'm in the world of Frieren: Beyond the Journey's End!! Fuck! If only I was a human this world would had been great but fate has screwed me over and made me a demon!)

(Day 364: I met an human old man from a village just a couple kilometers west away from my base, he noticed I was child and spoke to me in a kind way saying "where are your parents?" And asked if I was okay, I said yes but after seeing a wound on my leg the old man couldn't just let a defenseless kid go in the forest injured and so he invited me back into his village and promised to treat my wound.

After getting back to his house I accidentally removed the hood covering my head to prove that I was being courteous, but little did I know that my little accident would result in the old man without any hesitation suddenly grab me by the throat and started choking me, If I didn't bring my rusty dagger with me I could had died from an old man! I had to kill a stray puppy from the village streets and bury them both at the same spot one, where the puppy is at the two meter mark while the old man is at the five meter mark so if they use dogs to scout out the corpse they would first find the dead puppy instead of the old man's resulting in them thinking that the puppy was the only thing buried there.)

*Sigh*

"It's almost been a year since I've been here...

Closing the crude homemade notebook Ishida then laid down on his bed while holding his diary to his chest and went to a resting sleep.

The next day in the Elmsdorf Village, a group of villagers started flocking towards the house of the old man Ishida killed in self defence.

"What happened to old chief Rúger?" A middle aged villager asked one of the female villager observing Old Ruger's house

"I don't know we saw him walking with a kid wearing a dirty old cloak, it looked like he was injured on his leg so maybe he old chief was trying to heal him?" The female villager told the man what she witnessed yesterday.

"Didn't you see what happened inside old chiefs house?!" A villager who was the first to witness the bloody mess Ishida caused, answered the middle aged villagers question

"What do you mean Derek?"

"There is blood everywhere in the living room and everything from the kitchen to his bed room has been thrashed!"

"Oh Dear Goddess!"

The women villager shivered before fearfully asking a question.

"I-Is the child old Rúger brought to the village maybe in fact a demon?"

"In the the name of the Goddess we hope it isn't and is merely just a bear attack...."

"ye-yeah maybe old chief was attack by a bear..."

The women villager assured herself before finally being able to glimpse at the blood shot room in the corner of her eye shivered in horror.

"If it was the demon child that attacked old chief... what should we do...?" Another villager from the crowd asked with fear in his tone

A man wearing a green robe and holding a staff with a sapphire orb in the middle spoke in a calm tone to his fellow villagers.

"We must inform the church immediately!"

"But that will take days to get there, what if the demon child comes back?!"

"Then I will cast a barrier around the village just incase. It will only hold for about one day so that in the case the demon child comes back I will have at least half of my mana reserves to fight it."

"Thank you Mr. Jacob, we are in your debt."

"What if the demon child comes back with other demons?, I heard that a single demon child can massacre a single town alone from what my grandmother mother told me when she was an adventurer!"

Almost all of the adults villagers in the crowd had a grim expression written on there faces as if they were once victims to the horrors of what a demon is capable of.

"If we have the time, we must prepare ourselves and arm ourselves with weapons, but we can't be sure that the demon will return after attacking the chief, but if it does we will be able to fend it off and evacuate the children before it starts to kills us all!"

"Yeah, but what if it doesn't?"

"Then we will be safe, but if it does come back, then we must be prepared for the worse!"

The villagers looked at each other for confirmation and started to nod in agreement and started preparing themselves for the demon child while some prayed for the goddessess blessings.

Meanwhile in the forest Ishida Ashi, a young demon child who unknowingly has put the entire village of Elmsdorf into panic was having a dream...
