Chapter 7: A day full of Surprises

When Crystal woke up, she was back in her new reality: The Helios Country. Although she knew that the dream she had dreamt didn't occur in her original world. It still left a bad taste on her mouth- especially when she saw that ugly manager's face up close!

"Ugh! I didn't get to rip that ugly bastard's face! ending his linage is just a small matter! I should've gutted him inside and out!"- Crystal was boiling with anger as she gets ready to go to the forest to feed herself.

'ugly bastard!'

'mother doesn't like ugly bastards!'

'...'

'...'

'Sister, why are you not copying me anymore?'

'...You're just misheard me'

'...'

'DIDN'T WE AGREE TO COPY ME TO ACT CUTE IN THE FUTURE?! SISTER!!!'

'Ugh, noisy!'

'Did you just insult me?!'

Crystal almost lost balance from landing on the tree branch just now. She took a deep breath to calm her erratic heart and look down at her belly.

"Twins! That's very dangerous! Mommy is hunting, please be patient and do not cause trouble. I know you two are both hungry, but keep in mind my safety, okay? Now stay put and I'll continue my hunt." - Crystal lightly scolded the twins inside her belly, before she started to focus again and resume her hunting.

The two scolded twins: ... We almost put Mommy's life in danger! *scared*

'Sister... let's not fight over this anymore'

'I happily agree.'

Today, Crystal hunted three wild chickens, two fawns, and a pheasant. Satisfied with her hunt, she turns back and went back to town. The time is around 6:30 am and the sunrise is peeking at the horizon, Crystal took the chance to have a leisure walk near the pond and enjoyed the peacefulness of the forest.

Crystal picked a wildflower near where she sits and smiles, "The sun is coming out, the forest is peaceful and pretty, This day looks good!"

After a few minutes of being idle, she stood up and walks back to the town. While she was traveling back, she felt some ominous presence nearing the town. She perked up and used her vampire speed to catch up and hide on the eaves of the trees to peek at the group of people entering the town.

"Is this the rumored unnamed town?"- The person who seems to be leading the group of 15 people asked them.

"Yes, boss!"

"If that is the case, then they are also here." The leader said and they went inside the town.

"Who are those people?" Crystal asked while mumbling, tailing them through the roofs of the buildings.

"That direction... to the North again? What's going on at the North of the town for these suspicious guys to go there?" Crystal frowns as she was very curious about the North. However, she wouldn't risk the twins and her safety just to sate her curiosity.

"For now, let's go back to the inn and not meet such dangerous people." Crystal shudders before calming herself and going back in the direction of the inn.

Crystal went back to her room to changed her clothes and used her other pair of shoes. She tied her long hair in a low ponytail before going down the stairs to eat breakfast. She saw James and Claire finishing setting up the tables and chairs of their inn.

"Good morning Miss Crystal!" James and Claire saw her and greeted her enthusiastically. Crystal smiled and approached them to pat their heads.

"Good morning to the both of you,"

"Miss Crystal, are you feeling better now? Are you hungry? Our parents are cooking already, shall I give you a glass of warm milk first?"- James asked a series of questions that made Crystal appreciate the small child.

"Thank you, James. I'm feeling better now and yes, I do want a glass of warm milk first."- She answered the child and he immediately left. Claire guided her to the table that was already cleaned by them before going back to her work.

Crystal spent the next hour there and watched the other townsfolk come and go inside the inn. What looks like a peaceful day was ruined when a ruckus happened at the side of the inn.

Crystal didn't want to be mixed in the mess and just want to leisurely let the day pass without any hindrance, but the noises outside were picked up by her excellent vampire hearing. It was inevitable for her to not get involved anymore, not when she heard the topic of their discussion.

"The golden-haired foreigner, where is she? Didn't you say that she is around this area?"

"Y-Yes! We saw her here! Stop rough-housing us and just go and get her!"

"Ha?! Who do you think you are to talk to me like that? Do you want to die now?"

"What's with you and your high ass pride? I do not care at all! Come here and fight this daddy and I will spank your ass!"

'...'

'.... Vulgar words for vulgar people...' Crystal shudders before blocking her ears and goes back inside her room. She doesn't want to hear any more of their nonsense fighting for god knows what.

"Twins, you better not heard what Moomy heard, I swear if I hear any of the two of you cuss, I will not tolerate such ill manners."- Crystal lectured the twins before she took the book she got yesterday.

'... We didn't hear anything...'

'None at all...'

"Now then, the book that we will be reading is about, The first human kingdom of the Northeast, that'll be the kingdom facing the Elves if I remember correctly."- Crystal mumbled to herself before sitting in a comfortable position and she started to read.

She wanted to sink into the book and the history it holds, however, the goons from earlier were still very eye catchy and rowdy outside, she didn't know they were fighting just below her window! How unlucky!

She cannot focus on the book, and the noises make her irritable.

"Should I just send them off flying?"

'Mommy is scary...'

'Formidable... but scary'

"I'll go somewhere else instead." Crystal sighed in exasperation and took her cheap brown sling bag and put the book there and a cloak before going downstairs to leave for the forest. Just before she could pass the doors of the inn, the noisy group was just gonna enter the place.

Crystal avoided bumping into them and moved sideways but she still caught their eyes. The leader of the two groups both stepped forward and reached their hands towards her cloak, but she took a step back from them and held her stomach protectively. The two leaders also noticed the bump on her stomach and saw that she was pregnant.

Crystal had a good look at the two leaders who were fighting just now, Thir bulky, with a height that is around six feet, and their attires are... not good as it seems. Also, because they fought earlier, there were blood and bruises on their faces, clothes, and fists.

"W-What do you both want?" Crystal made her voice weak and scared, The townsfolk inside the inn were looking in their direction-the two leaders exactly.

"We are checking if you are this person."- One of the two leaders said and opened a scroll with a drawing on it. Crystal looked at the paper before squinting,

'Do I look like that? But why is it a younger version? Who are these people?'

"Sir, We may have a few similarities from this person on the paper, but I am married for more than five years, and I am pregnant. I have no recollection of being someone with a noble title my whole life."- Crystal said and caress her belly with a cautious look on her face.

'They're both suspicious, Why would they look for me in this rags and all? sending bulky and suspicious men than a fancy carriage, well-dressed servants, and a proof that I am familiar with them?'

"Please leave the pregnant lady alone, she's already a widow and has children to raise, why are you two ruffians trying to get a hold of her anyways?"

"Yeah! They might look the same, but Crystal has never been outside the forest and this town before!"

"Leave before we call the Town mayor to throw you all to jail!"

The two leaders seemed to be having a bind when the townsfolk talked about being imprisoned. They pursed their lips and turn around to leave the place immediately. Crystal sighed in relief, she was not hurt or abducted! That is good enough!

"Crystal are you well? Did you get a shock from earlier?"

"Crystal does not worry, those ruffians are just small-fries who want to seek death early!"

"Our town is safe and secure! Do not worry Crystal!"

'... Why do I feel weird when they get so close to me?' Crystal can't help but have a seed of doubt in her mind, their very welcoming and overprotective, however, they were not close at all, camaraderie, was it? Is that it?

James came closer to her when the townsfolk dispersed and gone back to what they were doing.

"Miss Crystal, you must be in shock, please go back to your room and rest, we can't have you going out like this, especially when there are two groups of people who were targeting you."

"They were targeting me? Do you mean the person on the portrait and I are the same? James, are you daydreaming?"- Crystal can't help but ask in suspicion. She saw it, the way James' eyes turned from brown irises to black- that ominous feeling engulfed her and almost made her stumble.

"You'll forget this encounter soon since the royal twins are still unborn." As soon as he said that, James points his index finger towards her head a flash of light almost made her blinded and in a daze for a few seconds. Crystal blinked and shook her head to snap out of her confusion.

"Miss Crystal are you okay?! You're so pale! please rest first!" James said and helped her to get to the second floor, Crystal only mumbles out a 'thank you' before she went back inside her room to take a nap first.

"What was that light? What happened before that? Ngh! my head..." Crystal winced and decided to take a nap now to ease her headache, She cannot go ill while the twins are still inside of her, she needs to stay healthy for them!

'Their watching Mommy'

'That's good, we still have people to rely on, albeit not trustworthy...'

'...'

'Let's grow faster, Sister'

'We'll make mommy hunt almost every day if we do that.'

'... I'm eager to go out and take care of Mommy!'

'We both are, but just keep being obedient and do not cause mischief'
