Chapter 11: Twins

The midwife immediately turns serious and helped her in the procedure of giving birth. The elderly couple and the three knights were in the living room, anxiously waiting and praying for Crystal to give birth successfully.

Lux noticed the night turned darker and the moon disappeared from the dark rain clouds. He frowned a bit when he saw and heard the loud thunder making its presence known from every being down below.

"It's gonna rain heavily, those thunders look quite strong in my opinion." Fae walked towards Lux and both peered at the window to look at the outside.

"Fae, fortify this house with earth magic. We should prepare for the rain." Lux said and told the elderly couple that he will hunt some animals to eat later. Everyone waited anxiously until they heard Crystal screamed in agony. Everyone flinched and started to sweat, why does she sound like she's being tortured? Wait, Is giving really that painful?

Fae and Oz coincidentally looked at each other and gulped, they were sweating and stiff while hearing Miss Crystal scream at the top of her lungs in pain.

'When I go back, I will give thanks to my mother for giving birth to me and enduring the pain of having me, raising me well, and letting me go and reach for my dream.' The two thought inside their hearts while feeling a pang of pain while remembering their mothers.

"It hurts!" Everyone flinched once again hearing her cry once more. The Midwife called the elderly woman to help and the three men were left in the living room.

After five minutes, they heard the first child's cry, it was a baby girl! The three men's joy was short-lived when they heard the midwife said, "Just one more child! You can do it, Ma'am!"

Another ten minutes passed, they heard the second child's cry- it was a boy! They were all relieved and stood up to go to the small bedroom when Lux came back with three pheasants, two rabbits, and wild vegetables.

"Lux! Miss Crystal gave birth to a pair of twins! Come and see!"

The midwife and the elderly woman were busy cleaning the twins and wrapping them in clean pink and blue towels. The elderly man had a hard time looking for those towels because he was being rushed. At the same time, the midwife has already cleaned Crystal who passed out as soon as the last child was out. She had wiped her off her sweat and covered her with the quilt before helping the elderly woman to take care of the two infants.

"What small and cute child~ such a lovely face," The elderly woman cooed and reached her hand out to lightly carress the child's face with her finger,

"That is true, this small young boy is also very cute, hoping that the two of them will grow lovely and adorable in the future," The midwife said and walked closer to the elderly woman to peek at the little baby girl in her arms,

While they were waiting inside, the two women can hear the men outside the room, but before they could get close to the room, A powerful dark spell was cast on the radius of the small house, engulfing it in a dark dome. The humans collapsed almost immediately on the ground, unconscious, while the two newborns were seemingly floating in the air.

Three figures emerged from the shadows and revealed a tall handsome male in black armor and a black full-mask. The other two also males were wearing a full set of silver and gold armors and matching masks.

The man in black armor stepped forward and walked towards the bed, Crystal was out cold and although her sweat was wiped off, she still looked uncomfortable. The man took the damp towel and carefully wiped her face and arms. He then took out a potion and helped her drink the content of the small bottle, before setting her down and covering her with the quilt.

The potion is a healing potion, since the humans only could wait for themselves to recover, she needs it to heal faster. The person in black armor also knew that she is a vampire, but precaution is better than cure, and he knows that she will be up and about later to take care of the twins. This is only a small thing that he can do for her.

"My lord, I looked at the Twins... h-how did they get a light affinity? This servant is baffled." The person in silver armor asked the man in black armor while bowing down.

"It's their mother's powers. Do not scare the newborns and get out of their sight," The man said and the person in silver armor abide by his orders.

"Master, there are freshly killed games in this house, will you feed the Miss?" The person in gold armor was carrying the dead animals in his hands asked his superior, bowing down.

"Do not call her as 'Miss', She is my wife! You should address her as Mistress!" The man suddenly became angry and the two of them kneeled immediately and begged for his forgiveness.

"Waaah! Waaaah!" Suddenly the twin's crying voices startled the three that made them look at the two floating newborns. The man in black immediately stood up and gently placed them in his arms to lull them both to sleep.

"I apologize, little angels, I am not mad, do not cry. Your mother is exhausted so let her rest." The man said and coaxed the two to sleep. The twins who were sobbing like it was the end of the world, suddenly opened their eyes and stared at the horrifying mask above them- almost immediately, they both wailed in fear.

"M-My Lord, t-the newborns s-seem to be afraid of your mask... I-I'm afraid a minute further, t-the mistress will wake up from their wails." The person in the silver mask stuttered, afraid to offend his Master. The man in black armor sighed before putting them beside Crystal on the bed and moving close to the window, in just a snap, two bright stars appeared from his palms and he moved closer to the twins for them to see and be pacified.

"I will let you two play with your stars, but let go of it before your mom sees. These are my gifts to both of you, my children." He put the stars that diminished in size to their small palms and stared at the twin's eyes. Silver and Red eyes, just like his and their mother's eyes...

"Master, the portal is closing, we must go,"- The person in gold armor said, The man in black armor run his fingers on Crystal's gold locks and whispered his name to her ear before they disappeared. A pair of silhouettes stayed behind and took the body of the elderly couple to possess before the dome disappeared and the rain started to pour.

Silence enveloped the small house, the twins wriggled and both looked at each other before clutching on the stars that they are holding,

They didn't know what exactly happened but they are sure of one thing,

'...THAT'S OUR PAPA!'

'I'M SURE! I'M SURE OF IT! THAT IS OUR PAPA!'

'We are powerful! Twin! We are powerful!'

'Yes! yes! Very powerful! We are so awesome!'

The twins started to giggle and played with their stars for a while before relating it, just like that, Everyone woke up and looked at each other baffled,

"D-Did we just took a nap on the floor?"

"W-What were we doing before we passed out?"

"I-I do not remember... What were we doing just know?"

Lux, Fae and Oz were all looking at each other in bewilderment but soon, they didn't pay attention to it anymore and went to the bedroom when The elderly woman and the midwife called them,

Seeing the twins alive and breathing, safely being delivered by Miss Crystal, the three knights sighed in relief! They were glad nothing bad happened to the mother and twins,

"How much do we pay you, Midwife? We still have some coppers and silvers here," Lux said and took his money out, Fae and Oz did the same,

"Oh no no! We only barter here in our village, we seldomly go to the three kingdoms so those money are useless for us, How about giving five games instead? That'll suffice as payment," The Midwife said with a kind smile,

"I-Is that so? T-Then I will go and hunt some more, Lux, Fae, maybe you two should go to the Kingdom first and buy some necessary things for the twins and Miss Crystal?" Oz asked a bit flustered,

"H-Huh? A-Although what you said is true b-but, we are guys, if we go into the clothing shop and get for them... I-I'm a bit embarrassed," Fae said with a flushed face,

"You two, just leave the money you can spare for the twins and the lady, My husband and I can go there ourselves by what they need later on, do not worry yourselves anymore," The elderly woman said and nodded at the three of them,

"T-Then you saved us, thank you very much again, Midwife, and the two elderly couples," Lux said and bow his head, Fae and Oz also bow down before he left to find some games to barter,

"No worries, no worries, These bags of bones are quite lonely here for some time, a new addition to our small house is very pleasing." The Elderly man said and waved at them from their unnecessary politeness,

"T-This is not much but I hope that this money is enough for the both of you and Miss Crystals to stay here," Lux said and gave them a bag of coins, it was two handfuls of gold coins! Someone like them, the commoners, have never had before!

"This is too much, young man! W-We will take the half, the other half is yours," The elderly man said and pushed the bag of coins back to him,

"N-No please, keep it. This is also for the twins and Miss Crystal's needs, so please do not refuse it," Lux said and placed the bag of coins in the elderly man's hand and smiled.
