Chapter 49

Elvira's hands trembled once he placed the staff in her palms. The object that attacked and hurt her twice was all hers for now. Its squeaky, annoying voice yelling 'witch' was still in her head.

"Who would steal it and why?" she asked. Who besides her?

Wivior bit his lip and dropped his head.

"What is it, darling?" 

He grabbed her hand and rubbed it between his palms. "I'll tell you everything because I trust you, but don't tell anyone about this, okay?"

"Okay," Elvira said. Her gut knew it had to be something about their plan to wipe out her race.

"There is an unapproved conspiracy going on back in my homeland. These wizards want to nuke the West to destroy the evil's nest once and for all. Those residing in other parts of the world shall be too weak to fight with us," Wivior spoke.

"What!" Elvira's eyes widened. "Is that even possible?"
