Chapter 28

'Now I want to try everything in my power to make you fall in love with me.' Wivior's words echoed in Elvira's mind one evening, lying in bed. That day, she was resting in her bedchamber, not Wivior's. Two weeks had passed since that conversation, and things had grown harder for her.

Elvira's mind was brimming with bothersome emotions and thoughts she was dying to share with someone. At night, she pretended to divulge all her feelings and thoughts to her uncle and sisters. Well, not every bit of it because there was one thing that she was ashamed to tell her eccentric younger sister, Leona.

Wivior was still waiting on someone or maybe a few people. According to him, they were some experts who would escort them to Doctor Oliver's abode safely. She had only one conversation with Wivior about the journey in which she had requested to stop at one town on the way so she could give a message to a friend to deliver for her. That was partially true because it was to reach her warlock uncle instead of a human cousin.

It was a town where witchcraft had the highest number of customers. She planned to leave a message in the hands of a human accomplice. The message would only contain an urgent request for her uncle Eldritch to come and meet her in the same town. She couldn't write about Agror's murderous intentions because there was a risk of it falling into the wrong hands.

There had been no sign of the reptile man or any news of Everard. His disappearance was not bothering Wivior as much as she thought it would, probably because he didn't know that his friend wasn't away willingly.

During those two weeks, Elvira's health was a mess because she would oscillate between feeling energized to feeling lifeless within a matter of minutes. She even fainted twice but luckily recovered when Wivior made her drink Doctor Goldberg's potion.

Even though Elvira was constantly struggling due to her health, something else was troubling her even more. Wivior had kept his word and tried hard every day to win her heart. He was the most gallant man she had ever met, and his silly attempts to woo her were strangely bewitching. To guard her heart, she was trying her best to act cold and distant from the outside, but she was miserably failing at it because everything he did was touching her heart and mind on a deeper level.

Elvira felt like a fool for agreeing to something like that! However, to find a cure, it was necessary to keep his interest alive. Two weeks ago, it sounded like a brilliant plan, but little did she know that it would be impossible to stay unaffected by his charms and flirtatious attempts.

Wivior was usually away during the day and sometimes at night. So, whenever he was inside the castle, she stayed close to Jasper to avoid being alone with Wivior in a room. However, that plan soon failed when Jasper started finding an excuse to leave each time Wivior came to see her. Maybe the sexual tension between Wivior and Elvira was so evident that it made him uneasy, or it was an order from the prince himself!

Frustratedly, Elvira rolled to the other side of the bed. "I am a fool," she thought. "Of course, he would affect me because that man is perfect. He is everything I have ever wanted, but sadly, he is a wizard, my enemy. An enemy who has never hurt me anyway that makes it more difficult for me to hate him."

In Wivior's presence, Elvira felt a surge of emotions. Her brain was guilty of imagining him with her in different sexual scenarios.

Fornication wasn't considered a sin among witches. However, she firmly believed that two people should at least be in love, if not married, to make love to each other.

Wivior hadn't made any sexual advances toward her. All he did was give her his undivided attention, look after her health, and have long chats with her. That kind of behavior was more problematic because even if she decided to sleep with him, she couldn't ever allow herself to fall in love with him. Nothing between them could be permanent!

Someone knocked at the door, and Elvira got up to inquire.

"My lady, it's me, Jasper. I carry a message from Prince Wivior. I am slipping this message down your door. The message is enchanted, and in his voice, so don't be frightened when it reaches you."

A gust of wind came rushing into the room, and Wivior's voice echoed. "Don't be alarmed when you hear this. I wanted to talk to you face to face, but since I am stuck somewhere, I at least wanted you to hear this news in my voice."

Elvira smirked. They wouldn't worry that much if they knew what kind of dark satanic magic she used. Witchcraft included frighteningly fiendish methods.

"I know that I have been making you wait for so long, and your health is growing worse since the day we found out about your curse. So, you would be happy to learn that we shall be setting off to see Doctor Oliver at dawn. The journey would be long and tiresome, so I suggest you go to bed now and at least get six to seven hours of sleep.

You can say goodbye to Jasper before leaving when you get up. I told him not to talk to you because you know he talks endlessly. Sleep well! I'll see you in the morning. P.S. When you wake up, you can talk to me face-to-face. So, I guess there are two things to look forward to and be excited about."

Elvira's lips curled up into a broad grin when the message ended. She jumped onto the bed in excitement. Wivior had kept his word, unlike that two-faced bastard, Agror!

She had high expectations from that journey because Wivior seemed like a diligent man, and now that he had developed feelings for her, he would try harder.

The excitement erased her fatigue, and she tossed and turned in anticipation of what awaited her the next day until she drifted off to sleep.
