I sat on the edge of Ethan's bed, the soft mattress giving slightly under my weight. The room was dim, with just a sliver of evening light peeking through the curtains. Ethan was at his desk, leaning back in his chair, his foot propped on the edge of the desk.
He looked so casual, like nothing in the world could faze him. But my mind was a whirlwind, and I couldn't shake the uneasy feeling that had been gnawing at me ever since I left school earlier.
I had been replaying the events over and over in my head, trying to make sense of it all and things didn't add up. The pieces didn't fit—not until one name came to mind. Ethan. The more I thought about it, the more uneasy I felt. Ethan was always so protective, sometimes too protective. But had he gone too far this time?
And did he do it for my sake?
