Chapter 42: It's All Fun and Games

It takes a while for Lucy to recover, the nanobots could only do so much."Hey Luce, you're still coming to the Gala Friday right?" Lena takes a bite of liquorice. The five of them decided to invite Lucy into some of these laid-back hangouts. They feel guilty that they weren't there for her but that isn't the reason why they are doing this. They all know the last thing Lucy needs is pity."Yea, I'm all healed, I don't need crutches or a wheelchair." A week ago was the last week she had to be brought to the DEO to check her incision and do some more scans just to make sure everything is going the way it is supposed to. They still haven't found James, which surprises Lucy and doesn't at the same time. He is, well, was, the Guardian and seemed to have learned a lot from the criminals he put away.It was frustrating for everyone involved but it's been a month and a half and Lucy is finally starting to feel safe in her new home, with people who love her truly.Alex gets back from the kitchen with a bowl of popcorn and cheese puffs, Kara behind her with cans of soda and water for the group. "This is the charity for at-risk youth or the one for the LGBTQ+ community fundraiser?" Alex says with a mouth full of cheese puffs.Lena snorted, "It's literally neither of those." Kara laughs at her sister.Maggie hits Alex on the back of the head, "It's called Cultural Soul. It's a fundraiser donating to multiple organisations. There will be a silent auction and all the money goes to a charity of your choice to organizations that focus on culture and the education of 'in need' minority children." They all look at Maggie inquisitively.The detective rolls her eyes, "anyways...." Maggie looks at Lena, "You're not the face of this right? No offence but you're like, not exactly the proper face for this.""Yes you are right, I have Keynote speakers that have come forward wanting to be in the spotlight. I'm only attending as a buyer, I'll only be mentioned as the host and that's all.""Which of you three are wearing the suit?" Lucy hasn't seen all of them go out before and she has been wondering how outfits work for them.Sam answers with a smile, "You'll just have to see." She winks Alex's way which makes the redhead blush from the tips of her ears."You and Maggie are totally wearing the suits aren't you?" Lucy says with a knowing tone.Maggie gets up to get napkins, "You will just have to see, maybe you'll be surprised." She smiles while she sits back down.Lena takes a bite of a Twizzler and cuddles into her girlfriend's side. The CEO is a bit tired due to all the last-minute planning she had to do instead of handing it off to her secretary, who is sick with the flu.Kara grapples onto Lena's hip to pull her impossibly closer. "You ok babe?" The Kryptonian whispers into Luthor's ear. With a nod of her head, both women turn their attention to the movie on screen.Movie night commences and they all get through three movies before they clean up the area and get ready to go to their respective homes."Gala starts at nine, I'll have a driver pick you up at eight-forty-five Luce."Lucy nods her head and gives everyone a hug."Oh, you don't mind having a ride with someone do you?"Lucy eyebrows crinkle, "depends, who with?"Lena smiles, "Her name is Andrea, you'll love her.""Ok, it wouldn't hurt to expand my friend group. I'm getting tired of the one I have now anyways." Lucy laughs, can't help but mess with them..... Day of the Fundraiser - Throuples POV ....Maggie isn't fond of dresses, but she will say, she looks rather stunning. The dress is royal blue in colour. The top half is a velvet type of texture and the bottom half is more smooth like silk. It gives off subtle differences in pattern. The dress is just able to meet her knees and is sleeveless."You look good hun." Sam. Sam is dressed in a dress as well. Usually they are the ones to rock the suites, but they thought this would be a good change for them. Sam's dress is shorter than Maggies, and more on the darker side. Sam's makeup is also more extravagant. Sam will also be doing a short speech as L-Corps CFO.Maggie is trying hard to stay in her adult head space. Earlier at work had been rough and she let herself slip when she got home but was bombarded with people coming in to get Sam and Alex ready. Maggie elected to get dressed on her own, not too keen on having so many hands on her body or her face."Sammy," She whines. Her little mind starts to peak but she hurriedly shakes her head and powders the rest of her face. Get it together Sawyer.All the makeup artists have gone and left a couple minutes ago after Maggie had to shoo them away from asking her if they could do her makeup for her."You alright Mags?" Maggie can sense the Kryptonians' trepidations."I'm good, just a bit tired is all." Maggie puts the supplies away and steps up on her toes to kiss Sam's cheek, rubbing away the residual lip tint."If you need to leave and come home while we're out, let me know, ok love?"Maggie nods,"Kay.""Damn babe, you look so handsome." Sam gushes over her other girlfriend. Alex has always expressed her liking for suites but was too afraid to steer away from her femininity. It took a lot for Alex to realise that she can have both sides of the coin and nothing is exclusive to anyone or anything.Dress pants are cinched at the waist. Underneath is a burnt orange lacy top that can be mistaken for lingerie. The jacket is fitted perfectly to her figure.Alex smiles at them bashfully, coming into the room to kiss both of them on the cheek."Thank you," Alex looks at her phone and then back at them, "The driver is outside so we better get going."Once they are in the car, the driver puts up the divider after greeting the throuple. It's a forty-five-minute drive and they are left to their own devices. Five minutes in Maggie is fidgety.Just four hours, that's all. Then you can get home and cuddle and feel whatever you want. Don't ruin tonight."Bunny." Oh no."Mommy noooo." She whines. Her fingers that had somehow gone to her mouth were replaced by a pacifier she had no idea they brought. They always seem to know.Sam takes a call while her Mama scoots her closer to her side. "Hello bug." All the redhead gets in return is a grunt in satisfaction at the soother."We probably should have stayed home huh?"Maggie's eyebrows wrinkle at that though. She knows she would have rather stayed home but this event is important for the community. Maggie wants to see the magic happen in person. If that means depriving herself of a couple hours of little time, so be it."No, it's important." Maggie lays her head on Alex's shoulder, not too worried about the makeup because the suit is dark."Yea it is, so you're sure you can make it tonight bug?" Alex knows that"Mmhmm." Alex rolls her eyes lovingly at the little girl. She knows it will take a while to get Maggie out of her little headspace so they can enter the event she just hopes that she can handle it.
