Chapter 8

All of the men went out into the woods trying to find any tracks to something that isn't a deer or smaller wild animal while the other four was sitting inside the cabin.

" Trevor stay with her and do not leave her side " Hank said giving the boy a serious look while throwing a couple more logs in the fire place, the generator was what they used up in the cabin since it's in the middle of the wilderness.

Hank kept glancing over to his hand held radio and sits down at the table that held a cb radio turning it on to see if anything else was going on, he picks up a trucker that said he seen something near the road that had tentacles.

" what the hell... he probably taking crystal " Alan said drinking from his whiskey bottle looking outside the window watching the light from his friends flashlights going further away from the cabin.

" Hank what do you think could have done this, I mean wolves and bears aren't intelligent enough to take a grown man and keeping him alive to kill in some girls bedroom " Alan said looking over at the three who nod in agreement, Trevor pulls out a deck of cards walking over to the table and motions the other two to join him and Hank dealing out a game of poker.

Alan squints his eyes and stares at a tree a dozen feet away when he thought he seen something move, he leans forward seeing a large hand that had claws holding onto a tree and when he looked back it was gone.

( " what the hell...no way ") Alan said closing his eyes then shaking his head trying to sober up, when he opens his eyes to looks again nothing was there when he thought of a old were wolf movie that was from one of his favorite books.

His gut was telling him it's not the alcohol or his imagination but he was to drunk, so he goes over getting coffee sobering himself up.

" count me in Tre " Alan said sitting down at the table, Sammy seen something move by the window from her peripheral vision and she jumps up rushing toward the window.

" hey...how long has the guys been gone, they wouldn't be back yet....right " Sammy said, Alan gets up going to the same window he left earlier that Sammy is at.

" no they've only been gone hour and a half, plus they'd have their flashlights on and I dought they'd be around back since Jay told us to fire first ask later " Hank said going to the front door looking outside, he pulled out his hand held radio when he noticed the trucks tires are all flat.

" What the hell...hey all our tires are flat" Hank said getting ready to go outside when Alan runs over grabbing his arm staring at Hanks truck near the tree line.

" look by the hood " Alan said as the others join them by the door seeing a long pair of ears on a black figure that slowly dunks down making their eyes go wide.

A low growl came from that way then a clicking noise came from the other, Alan slams the door shut leaning against it then two seconds later something hits the door pushing it open only for Hank to help Alan hold it closed.

" Tre the 4x4 hurry " Hank said as both men's feet are starting to drag on the floor while long skinny fingers with long claws wraps it's fingers around the door. Trevor runs over taking the piece of wood smashing it against the things fingers as it lets out a screech before he helps push the door closed placing the wood in the latches on both sides of the wall. Sammy was closing the wood shutters on the windows locking the latches, Hank hands Trevor the hand held radio while Alan was making sure the guns was loaded when Hank grabs the CB to get a hold of Brooke or the Sheriff.

" Sheriff Monroe....Brooke were at the cabin, Sammy....something is " Hank said noticing he had a lot of interference when the power goes off in the cabin, they all freeze where they stand and hear claw marks going across the wall outside the house, Alan pulls out some lanterns plus a couple flashlights.

Alan gives them their guns then a noise from one of the two bedrooms gets their attention, Sammy's face pales when she realizes that she didn't lock the shutters in them.

" Jay...come in those things are here please come back and be careful there is more than one" Trevor said when he gets a loud crackling noise then words come back broken, he repeats what he said then kept saying Emergency over and over.

" Trevor-—your—up—to—out" Jay said a broken sentence over the hand held, Alan focuses on the words then shakes his head motioning Frank to follow him to the bedrooms.

" I think their to far out and he's getting transmissions like we are " Alan said cocking his shotgun while shining the light he's holding with the gun.

Sammy heard scratching noises coming from the roof and notices dirt and dust falling down on the fire that's almost out now, she runs over placing more logs in the fire place with some balls of newspaper.

All four of them jump when they hear something heavy quickly run across the roof and Trevor looks down the hallway where the thundering steps ran to.

Alan nods his head to Hank when they glance at the first door on the left and he opens the door with Hank pointing his rifle inside while they shine their light around checking the room and when it's clear they lock the shutters then exits the room securing the door.

" bathroom, bedroom and then the cellar" Hank said moving to the next bedroom on the right hand side, they nod their heads as if counting then open the door and Hank froze when something that resembles a wolf was kneeling on the floor in front of the open window with the moonlight shining down on it.

Their eyes widen with both of their faces going pale when it slowly raises up, you could hear it's bones popping when it stood up showing a werewolf on two bipedal legs and both men's eyes raising with it until they are staring up at it.

A humanoid looking bipedal wolf stood inside the room almost at seven ft tall, saliva dropping down from it's elongated mouth that had a full of long sharp teeth and a low menacing growl leaving its mouth that opened wider showing how big it's bite radius is which made the two men gasp.

The beast eyes that seem to gleam in the darkness snaps down at the men slowly raising it's clawed hand toward Hank who was frozen, Alan snaps back to reality and starts firing his shotgun hitting the thing in it's chest knocking it back a couple of feet emptying eight shells into it's body.

" HANK snap out of it !! " Alan shouts and Hank starts firing his rifle while Alan reloads, he has a high powered rifle so it knocks the beast back to the window breaking the glass when it flails it's arms out grabbing both sides of the window frame to keep itself from falling out when Alan walks closer pumping his shotgun firing several rounds knocking the beast outside the window.

They run over locking the shutters tight while looking over the room before securing the door they look at the bathroom then back to the living room where the other two was pushing furniture in front of the door that something has been trying to find weakness by hitting the door.

They open the bathroom that has a small rectangular window, they leave it be since it doesn't have a shutter and close the door.

" I really don't want to go down in the cellar I have a bad feeling about going " Alan said pulling a cord off of a lamp wrapping it around the door knob to the bathroom door and to the cellar door securing both rooms.

" Trevor did you get a hold of Jay yet " Alan said walking over looking out through a crack in the shutter when a bloodshot black as night eye looks back at him making him fall back on the floor.

The shutters start shaking violently while Trevor picks up the hand held again, Sammy pulls out her Glock while resting her rifle against the wall by her making sure both was fully loaded.

" Jay help those things are here" Trevor said over the radio again only getting static in return, they've been gone over three hours and usually don't return from a hunt til daybreak.

Brooke heard the broken message over the radio again and recognized Trevor's voice, she contacted the Sheriff to get his men ready, Riley stands next to Brooke watching everyone getting their weapons together. Tai looks over at Alexis and the other girls then back at Brooke who is a nervous wreck so she takes her phone out stepping away from the others so they can't hear her conversation.

" Rollin go get the team to go up the mountain, I'm sending the coordinates to you now....got it ok well yes save them as fast as you can, we will be leaving soon so get there quickly " Riley said looking at Sheriff Monroe who was now looking at her and nods his head at her, she knows he overheard her phone call.

Riley looked over at the table and crates that were full of different weapons she grabbed a M-16s that had a scope and flashlight attached and grabbed two more along with extra clips with four boxes of bullets, she waved Alexis over then looked at Brooke.

" give them a quick review on how this weapon works, I'm sure Alexis and Rae will know already or will learn being shown once " Riley said looking through some more grabbing g a AK-74U for Blair along with a 9mm Beretta that she grabbed a few of along with extra clips for each one with six boxes of ammo for all the weapons.

Riley even grabbed two Mossberg strikers with several boxes of shells, she also grabbed two SAU 12 gauge shotguns with shells also.

The striker she grabbed one loading it then handed it to Brook along with a .45 Smith and Wesson that was chrome with a Pearl handle, she seen a Ak-12 with a grenade launcher along with a scope that would light whatever she aimed at with a green dot.

" make sure to fill the extra clips to have them ready even the strikers extra big clip so you can reload quicker, we need to show Blair how to load and use the guns so tell Alexis because I'm pretty sure she knows how to use all these guns " Riley said grabbing her a striker putting it over her shoulder while putting all the extra clips for all four guns she's taking inside her shoulder back after filling her vest with what would fit, she looks over the Ak-47 that has a flashlight, Scope and grenade launcher then puts it over her other shoulder while putting a .50 cal handgun in her right holster then a 9mm Beretta in her left.

Alexis walks over grabbing a .38 that was inside a ankle holster then slowly bends down while sliding her hand down Rileys stomach, groin then her leg pulling her pants up to attach the ankle holster.

" here these are like clips for .38 to quickly reload, there's three here and some extra ammo for it " Alexis said putting a small plastic case that had twenty bullets inside, Riley helped her to her feet then hugged her tightly before turning to Alexis's father.

" I'll be going with you all, I have a team in transit now and since it's a hour drive for us going they'll arrive way before us...Alexis you stay with the others here " Riley said walking out watching a helicopter pass overhead of them where her men will make it up there using it, over a dozen men and women come loading inside the ATVs while Tais right hand man Eli pulls up on Riley personal Atv while six other guards pull up on four-wheelers and motorcycles.

Tai glances at Drake's Dirt bike that have special tires for mountain trails, she walks over taking the helmet and looks at the assault rifle on the side along with a sword in a sheath attached to it.

" I'll take this go with Eli " Riley said throwing him his weapons and the sword as Eli runs over with her one of a kind DAO sword when Brooke runs over taking a helmet from one of the men getting on behind Tai wrapping her arms around Tais waist, Riley looked back seeing Brooks determination in her eyes and nods then takes off not waiting on the others with her men following behind her trying to keep up as she pops a Willy on the bike making Brooke squill. Alexis tries to stop her but doesn't make it in time and walks over to her father who gives her a stern look but it then softens huggingher knowing she wasn't trying to argue about going which he sighed in relief.

" be careful and keep them safe especially family and Riley " Alexis said walking back to the other girls who all were staying in the police station watching them leave with Leon along with two ther deputies and a team of six that Riley left to watch the girls.

Riley was a few miles ahead of her team making good time since she knows this mountain better than anyone, she knew she'd arrive at least twenty to thirty minutes before them. Riley knows all the shortcuts, hidden trails that she took not waiting on her team.

Her team was making good progress since they studied the maps for over two weeks of the mountain and trails, but the map had some trails that were shorter to get up the mountain and not the ones that Riley knew. Somehow Eli caught up with her while the others took a different Trail, she smiled knowing that Eli knows her better than anyone else right now.

The helicopter arrived at the coordinates thirty minutes before the others left the town and six men drop down fully loaded with assault rifles and in black uniforms looking over the area that was earily quiet with no lights only smoke coming from the cabins chimney. The other six were dropped off a couple miles out in a clearing in the woods to find the things or look for any survivors that might have ran off into the woods.

The team leader went over his ear piece looking over at the cabin and to the smoke rising from the campfire that had a stout odor coming from it, he thought of animal piss when walking by it from the odor.

" you two go right, you two on the left and we will check out front call out to them they should be armed so let them know we're here to help" Rollin said looking down at the large tracks that are different from one another.

One looks like a large wolf while another looks like a hoof that was four times the size of his foot, he nervously looks around after finding the tracks.

" be careful I've found tracks of more than one of these things " Rollin said over his ear piece, he remembers the name Tai gave him of a girl named Sammy.

" Sammy...your sister and Tai sent us, stay put we'll come to you " Rollin shouts out seeing a light move inside the cabin from the cracks and holes from the front door, when he gets close to the porch they here a weird noise coming from his ear piece.

" number three what's going on, what's that noise." Rollin said looking at his partner who keeps an eye out on their backs, the loud crunching noise was still coming over his ear piece and then a gurgling noise that sent goosebumps over their bodies realizing they know those sounds.

" Sammy stay inside until I tell you it's not safe outside, guys check on the other team I'll meet you there " Rollins said through the door hearing a meek ok and over the radio to his men.

Rollins two men make their way around the right side of the cabin where a shed is, one goes inside the shed while the other continues going around to the back of it.

When he heard a twig break he snaps his head that way when a shadow flashes in front of him and his body was flung into the trees rolling down a small hill hitting several trees on the way down making him groan in pain. The man reaches to his ear finding his ear piece is no longer there so he sits up grunting in pain holding his ribs, when he tries to stand he falls back down seeing a broken bone piercing through his skin.

When he hears foot steps coming toward him and the sound of them being very heavy makes his blood run cold, he slowly looks up seeing two bipedal legs that have black fur on them and he quickly looks around for his gun that is several feet away from him near the beast. He tries to quickly lunge for the gun and It bends down with its clawed hand picking up the rifle bending the barrel then tossing it to the side. The man fumbles to get his side arm when the beast rushes toward him pinning the man to a tree by his throat and arm that was trying to reach his sidearm with, he was gasping for air looking at the thing in front of him that looks like the werewolf in stories he read when he was a teen. He watched a bloody drool leak from it's elongated jaws while the teeth was getting longer and the snout pulling back from it's gums showing a larger mawl.

The man started shaking even more and pisses his pants looking at the beast which is slowly transforming making the terrifying thing look even scarier with it's new features, he tries to move his other hand to reach his opposite hip to grab the gun.

He could of swore when the thing felt his fear grow that it was grinning at him being even more terrified, the beast pulls the man face to face with it where it's ranky breath was now against his skin where the moisture could be felt on his skin from it's mouth.

The beast squeezes the man throat to where pain shot through him and a popping noise could be heard, the man was having problems breathing and couldn't even mumble words now. The beast let go of his throat then grabs his free arm before he could reach his side arm, it twists his arm backwards making a loud cracking noise while a bloody mist shot in the air when the bone penetrates through the air.

The man could only groan and gurgle since it broke his voice box earlier, it tosses his body to the ground knocking the air from his lungs. He looks over finding the ear piece and all he could do was push on the receiver hoping that his partners will be alerted to this thing so he could at least save them, the thing stalks over to him bending down on all fours and is now looming over his torso with it's face side glaring the man before it chomps down on the soft flesh of his stomach taking large bites ripping out his stomach along with intestines. The man lays there only gurgling on the rising blood in his throat, he pushes his hand up trying to block the next incoming bite from his stomach to only have his forearm being bit into. The crunching sound and his fleeting vision was all he heard and seen before he takes his last breath, the thing continues eating the man even chewing up the bones too.

The man's partner was searching the shed to come across a large generator that was torn to pieces with large claw marks dug deep into the metal, he drags his beloved hand across the claw marks and whistles lowly.

" what the hell did this a large grizzly " he said out loud to himself rising from where he knelt down walking around the large shelves that was full of clutter, he heard a low clicking sound from the rafters and snaps his head up to the left shining his flash light to find nothing then a loud metal clanking noise from further back of the shed gains his attention.

" hello " he said looking around the area walking out of the shelves where a old Ford was sitting with bulky things was covered by tarps, he pulls off one of the tarps finding a torch with large tanks.

The clicking noise came from behind him again so he whips around pointing his rifle at nothing, he sighs shaking his head when he felt a gush of cold air behind him and he froze where he stood.

The next second a sharp pain was felt in his chest, he spits blood out from his mouth then looks down to find a grey leathery skinned hand coming out from his chest holding a mass of fleshy meat that was slowly jerking and his hand loses the strength to hold the rifle as it drops the the wooden floor.

The mans vision starts to go black as his head drops down with wide lifeless eyes, his body was tossed up to the rafters where several dozen clicking noises was heard as his body lands across a beam of wood. Small looking humanoid bipedal bat creatures land on and around the man biting chunks of flesh from the man's corpse.

" Damnit three and four come in " Rollin said over the head piece as they jogged in the direction that his missing men went and meets up with five and six joining them.

" have you seen or heard anything" the two asked the others who shake their head then point to the ear piece, all four look in the direction of the shed and walk over finding their tracks.

" one leads to the shed while the other goes around the house, you two stay close to each other we're not alone and follow these tracks while we check the shed" Rollin said looking over at the shed where one set of tracks lead.
