The World's Shift

I, the suspiciously previously unnamed protagonist, have woken up to my normal everyday life after a strange 'dream' I had when everything is so different, even me. But even when the world and even people have changed, I kinda gotta keep on living, which is confusing when no one notices ANYTHING WRONG with the world.

Event (1)

This event is simple... it's a tournament. Yep welcome to the tournament arc. No large-scale magic, like the one that attacked my school, and no majorly injuring the other contestant, but other than that, it's fair game. However, in some rounds fighting may deduct from your score.

The tournament is designed to test people's magic, and how they apply it to various circumstances. For example, there may be a survival round where you have to survive in various circumstances, or there might just be straight-up fighting.

The tournament is taking place one month from now to give people time to register. Obviously, I'm signing up. In the tournament, winning isn't the ultimate goal, while winning the tournament does guarantee a full scholarship, a lot of people know that they probably won't win, therefore participating in the tournament is more so you will get noticed and scouted. It's a good time for the school to see what you are made of.

Now, the stuff after high school, like college or university, isn't going to affect my life anytime soon, but the earlier you get a jump on that stuff, the better. When you think about it, I have less than two years in high school left, being a junior and all.

For now though, I need to practice, I am really good at magic for someone my age, but who knows when some random prodigy will show up and absolutely obliterate me. Wouldn't want that to happen, so of course, practicing is the way to go. On top of that, I have to keep up with my studies and get good grades. AHH!!! Is life going to get even busier!

Kari's POV:

My sister is planning to get into Spectrum University huh, well I guess that makes sense, I mean she does have an innate talent in Gravity magic, so she would definitely get accepted if they can notice her. I heard there is going to be some competition hosted by them near here soon, so she'll probably be fine.

Actually, wait, doesn't she have really bad stage fright, will she be fine being in front of so many people? She was fine at the incident at her school because of adrenaline, but she's not at risk of dying in this tournament, so there's no way her nerves won't get to her.

Ever since she was little, because of her innate talent, she's always been kind of, how do I describe this, floaty in personality. She would always just go with the flow, like something drifting in the wind.

Lately though, I've felt like it's been a little different, like instead of floating she's pulling things to her. Innate talent can have effects on your personality, and for her, it seems to make her like gravity. However, while it used to repel things, now it pulls things to it. That's the best way to describe it.

It's funny too because she doesn't even realize it yet. She's so stuck in her own world, that she can't realize that right now, she is probably the most popular person in the city among teenagers.

Jess' POV:

So, in a month the tournament is going to happen. To train for this, I decided to ask William to help. He's gotten a lot better because of the MPD3 that I gave him. The funny thing though, is he has so much MP that it's broken the mechanism several times.

Anyway, because of that, I decided he'd be the perfect training partner. He might even have more MP than me, so he's the best choice after all. Also, his magic matches mine really well, so it works.

Basically, spacetime is, well, space and time. The bending of spacetime can create what we call gravity. In a nutshell, more gravity equals slower time. (That is horrendously simplified, but whatever.) However, the difference between Gravity magic and Time magic is that Time magic can change the passage of time without changing gravitational pull.

Today I decided to go and sign up for the tournament and I found something out; this year, they are doing partner pairings. If I wanna apply, I need someone to apply with. I literally have no idea who to ask. William isn't sure about what he wants to do yet, and I don't really have any other friends at the moment.

"Hey! Is that you Jess?" Speak of the devil. A random girl comes up to me and talks to me like I know her. I must have seen her somewhere. She looks like a Siamese Cat Beastman with green eyes. I say this because I feel like I recognize her from somewhere.

"H-hey, who are you?"

"Hahaha, I guess this is the first time we've talked. I'm Sasha Lano, I'm in your Magic Studies class."

"Oh, are you planning to sign up too?"

"Yeah, but I didn't know it would be a two-person thing. Hey, if you're okay with it, we could team up!"

"Oh, yeah, sure..."

"Great! By the way, I specialize in Transformation magic."

"Are you a shifter?"

"No, but I can turn into a cat!"

"Huh, what else can you do..."

"Um... I can partially turn into a cat!"

I have a bad feeling about this...
