Chapter 5

I went to the Hart's next.

It took me a good five minutes to get there. Getting off the bike I went and knocked on the door. Elizabeth opened the door the next minute and gave a long yawn.

"Hey." she said looking at me.

"Hey, how are you two?" I asked stepping inside as she opened the door wider.

"Good, I guess. Except that Amy's been throwing a couple of extra tantrums than usual." She said as she led me upstairs.

"You do know why I'm here, right?" I asked as I walked into her room.

"Hmm." she hummed as she opened up her closet and took out a few bags and started stuffing her clothes into them.

"K." I stood up and helped her pack her clothes.

We went downstairs a couple of minutes later and I put the stuff on the bike.

I looked around to see that Eli wasn't there. I stood there and waited next to the bike. About a minute later, she came back with another bike, Amy in her arms.

"You could have headed out without me.." She mumbled.

"Why would I? You still need to know where we're going, right?" I asked raising a brow at her as I let out a small chuckle.

"Ugh, fine. Let's go now." She mumbled and got onto the bike and put Amy in the basket.

"Follow me." I said and rode out onto the road again.

We reached back to Melanie's house in another five or so minutes. Getting off the bike, I took hold of all the stuff and took it inside. August, Olivia, and Xavier were already there, and so were Melanie and Jason.

I walked over to the kitchen and took a glass of water from Diana and hurriedly chugged it down.

Elizabeth came in a minute later and Diana handed her a glass of juice. Eli sat down at the table and sipped at her juice.

I sat down at the table and opened up the map again. Melanie came in a while later and looked over my shoulder at the map.

"So, who next?" Melanie asked sliding a chair closer and sitting down next to me.

"How about, you go and get the Garcias and the Sparks, and I'll get the Lanes and the Kennedys?" I asked her as I pointed to different places on the map.

"Sure. Are we going Alone or taking someone else with us?" Melanie asked playing with her fingers.

"Go Ahead, I don't care, but you better keep the details away from me." I said glaring at her.

I picked up another sandwich and bit into it. Walking out into the lounge I greeted everyone and then walked out into the driveway. Getting back onto the bike, I rode out towards the Kennedys.

It took me the same amount of time it took to get to the Harts, just that the Kennedys lived on the other side. As I got off the bike, the door opened and William stepped out with his bike.

"Hi." he mumbled.

"Did Celia call Lily already?" I asked.

"Hmm." he hummed in response.

"Will you guys be good reaching Melanie's on your own?" I asked as I got back onto the bike.

"Yeah, we'll be fine. But if you can, could you take Julia with you?" he asked as he stood his bike next to the wall.

"Sure. Bring her down." I said and rode to the end of the driveway and waited there as William went back in to get his sister.

He came back the next minute with a sleeping baby Julia in his arms. He handed her to me and I placed her carefully into the basket.

I rode back to Melanie's and got off the bike. Taking Julia out of the basket, I held her in my arms and took her inside.

I handed her over to Anna and then headed back out again.

I rode to the lanes and got off the bike close to the door. I knocked and stood back as Jessica opened the door.

"Hullo." she said before the door was pushed open wider by Little Hannah.

"Hi! Hi!" she yelled enthusiastically as she jumped up and down on the porch.

"Hi, Hannah! How are you?" I asked as I bent down a little to pat her head.

"I am best!" She said her eyes shining with excitement.

"Let's head back inside now, Hannah. Come in, Avery." Jessica said as she took hold of Hannah's hand and led her inside.

Jessica looked just fine as if nothing had happened... As if no one had died..

As Jessica took Hannah into the lounge and set her down on the couch, I walked behind her and sat down next to Hannah.

"So where are Mr. and Mrs. Lane?" I asked looking around at the walls as Jessica turned on the TV.

"They're on a business trip." she answered turning on a cartoon and sitting down next to me. "Why?"

"I don't know how to tell you this... Have you seen the news since yesterday?" I asked looking at her with a solemn expression.

"No, why though?" She asked.

"Could you turn it on so that I can explain?" I said as I clenched my thigh.

"Sure.." she mumbled and got up. As she switched the channel and then looked at the news headlines, she looked like she'd been shattered.

She walked back over to the couch and hugged Hannah tightly as she cried.

"What's wrong, sissy?" Hannah asked a confused look on her face.

"Nothing, Hannah." Jessica said as she let go of her and went to change the channel back to Hannah's cartoon.

She sat back down next to me and hugged my arm.

"Let's not waste any time, C'mon, let's go and get your clothes packed and then head to Melanie's." I said and stood up.

I pulled Jessica to a stand and then I followed behind her to her room.

I packed Jessica's clothes into some bags as she packed Hannah's clothes and toys in the other room.

We went downstairs and Jessica went to get her bike. Thankfully most of the kids in our neighborhood had bikes.

I set all the stuff on my bike and got on. Jessica came back a minute later with Hannah in the back of her bike, hugging her tightly like a koala.

We rode back to Melanie's. Entering the driveway I got off and was about to pick up all the stuff when Xavier walked out and took it inside.

Jessica stopped behind me and got off as I went ahead and got Hannah off the bike.

We walked inside and I set Hannah down on the couch in the lounge where Diana, Lily, Celia, and Olivia were already sitting watching cartoons.

I went to the kitchen, where Anna was talking with Stephanie and Serena. I greeted them and picked up a tray with multiple glasses of Apple juice and took it out into the lounge.

I set the tray down on the table and handed a glass to Jessica.

I sat down next to her and sipped my glass.

I was having a huge headache from all the in and out since the morning.. I kinda felt sick. *cough cough* I let out a cough.
