Lenora looked at him through her squinted eyes. She could see his muscles twitching and his fisted palm. It's as if he doesn't want to approach her or see her. Or more likely someone who looked like her sister. He hid a thing and revealed it just when her brother revealed it. She will not buy it if he says he caught her a day ago. She can say it was longer than that.

"I want to talk to her. Even without your presence," Lenora said.

"Nope! I don't what intentions that woman got for you. What if she harms you? I don't trust any guard with you. I want to protect you," he said.

"That's touching for sure. But I said I will meet her," Lenora said.

"That's a no," Maximus said through gritted teeth.

"I said yes. And you don't make decisions for me," Lenora said.

"You don't you be obedient for once!" Maximus's temper rose.

"You should really know your place in this issue, Werewolf King. She is someone who looks like my sister. I have every fucking right to see her before anyone. I saw her getting killed by those damned bastards with my own eyes! And you say I have to listen to you! Huh!?! The nerve of you!" Lenora said as she slammed her open palm on the table.

"It's because you can't meet her without me! I don't want to face her twice in a row! That too in a single day!" Maximus yelled.

Lenora raised a brow at his words.

"You may leave and rest. I will deal with the things from now on," Lenora turned her face and said to her brother as if ordering him.

Zaros was too shocked by the revelations. He never thought his efforts would be wasted because of Maximus.

He felt betrayed for not knowing these things.

What does this couple think of themselves?

They never thought he has any right to know about these things!

"I want to know the whole thing too," he said.

"Even if I meet her now or later, you will be a burden to us," Lenora said bluntly as she took a bite of her lotus cake looking at her husband, who was visibly calming down.

"I am not dead yet. I can protect myself," Zaros said. He knew his body would be weak for some time but he was not dead yet.

"If she asked about me. She definitely does know about your presence and your mother's presence. She would have called you too. But she only called me. That says everything, Your highness," Lenora said adding the part of your highness.

Reminding him he doesn't need to bother with the things that don't concern him as a king. Because he said 'You killed her. That's all matters. Other things don't concern me as a king,' to her.

Lenora wasn't a saint. She would not forgive people easily who tormented her life.

In this world, all are the same. Be it family or anyone you loved. She trusted Maximus only to be broken yet… he managed to put it together again. But that doesn't mean she was not cautious about him.

All are the same in this world. The one who truly loves shows you that the world is different. She will wait for Maximus to show her a different world.

She felt warmth when he said any guard protecting her and he himself wanted to protect her on his own. She felt warmth in her chest when he wants her to meet her after the coronation which would be after she got some rest.

But that doesn't erase the fact that he was hiding something from her about her sister.

Zaros felt slaps on his face. Looks like he was a villain in Lenora's life. It's the fact. But the blatant way she was saying made it hard for him. It's like he was sitting on pins and needles.

"I am her brother," he said replied.

"The one who didn't investigate. The one who blamed his other sister for her murder. The one who believed that there was nothing wrong in her death when she died in an abnormal way," Lenora pointed with a sharp gaze.

Her words were equal to poison to his ears. The werewolf venom in his body did no damage but her words.

"I regret it," he said.

"Show the regretful actions not the words," she replied.

"Lenora…I know I hurt you and mother too. You both deserved an apology. Not only an apology but many things. Right now, I can only give my apologies to you. But I know nothing can make up to you. I will bring the head of Lich King. I found his belongings in that room.

"I have this feeling every time he meets me, I feel he is up to no good. When I find whoever is the reason for her death will receive their punishment in the cruelest way," he said.

"That I am sure," Lenora said.

"I just need one chance. To redeem everything," he said.

Lenora looked at him for a long time and sighed loudly.

"You will be informed about everything about Victoria's thing. But don't expect things would be the same between us before when we were good," Lenora said with a straight face that hurt his heart again.

Lenora didn't care if her brother was hurt or not. It's just that it became her primal instinct to protect herself first before anyone or anything.

She made sure that no one would hurt her as a point. If things involve her getting hurt, then she would back off.

"That's enough for now," Zaros said.

"Too many moments can make the poison spread faster," Maximus warned Zaros. Zaros nodded his head at him showing that he accepted the advice. Maximus just shrugged which earned a glare from Lenora.

"Just sleep for today," Lenora's said as her eyes still were on her husband warning him to do something stupid and he will face the consequences. Zaros smiled at her masked concern. He nodded his head vigorously.
