Jael watched Mauve eat his meal as though she hadn't eaten in years. He tried to speak to her, but she just held out her hand to stop him and ravished the food. Louis stood dumbfounded in the corner as he stared. Jael understood how he felt; he felt the same.
"Water, please?" she said as she finished everything on the plate.
"Here you go," Louis said, handing the cup to her as though he had been waiting for her to ask for it.
She smiled sluggishly at him and accepted it. She gulped the water, spilling some over her body and down onto her clothes. "Careful," Jael cried, taking the cup from her.
She grinned at him and leaned against his chest. "I am very full," she said, and that was immediately followed by soft, steady breathing as she fell fast asleep.
"Did she?" Louis blinked. "Did she just fall asleep?" He threw his head back and laughed.
