Chapter 30: A Love Built on Solid Ground
Lavinia had a lot to think about once they got home. Casey was safe, she was in a place that she wanted to be.
That bothered Lavinia a little bit. Why would she want to stay?
Well, Lavinia wasn’t a fool. She knew why Casey wanted to stay. She cared about Lavinia, which was honestly baffling in its own way.
A lot of things also started making sense. Casey had been acting more than a little odd and now it was clear. She was pining.
But that left a question hanging. Did Casey let Lavinia drink from her because she wanted Lavinia to like her more? Did she do it out of love despite discomfort or was it true consent.
A soft knock sounded at Lavinia’s door.
Crossing the study, she opened it to reveal Casey.
“Dinner is ready, Lavinia.” She beamed up at her.
Lavinia smiled. “Thank you, Casey.” She glanced around the study. “Seeing as you aren’t my employee anymore, you can just come in next time.”
