Chapter 23: Trouble and Worry
Casey didn’t need much from the store. It took her less than fifteen minutes of careful driving to get there, and far less to get the ingredients of hollandaise sauce and English muffins.
It seemed like seconds to her. She was ecstatic. She was also nervous.
She had obviously made Lavinia uncomfortable, based on how her mistress…how Lavinia had behaved. Casey thought that maybe if she served breakfast in bed and showed Lavinia how much she appreciated being taken care of then things might smooth over.
She would never admit that she had been thinking about Lavinia all morning, but she had. She thought that maybe whatever she felt was fleeting, but it had barely faded and only seemed to grow.
She didn’t know what would happen if they became more than what they were now. She wasn’t sure if it was wrong. It probably was.
She didn’t care, though. If it was wrong, then why did it feel so nice?
