The Windy City

As Jim was driving the flying carriage Susan and Astros were having a conversation. One of their heart to heart talks.

"I don't think its working fairy girl." Astros said.

"You dont think what's working?" Susan asked.

"Playing nice, not constantly advancing on Jim." Astros explained. "I don't feel like I am winning him over this way. I think I should go back to the way I was acting before."

"I don't believe that's a good idea Astros." Susan answered. "Right now Jim doesn't seem to be wary around you, so you have gotten him to lower his guard." She puts her serious face on. "If you go back to being a pervert he will just put his guard up again and you will be back at square one."  She puts her hand on Astros shoulder. "You don't want to throw away all the work you have done so far do you? Trust me, I understand how men think."

"Fine, fairy girl." Astros snapped back. "I will continue this good boy routine.  At least for a little longer."

"Speaking of Jim, what kind of god do you think he is?" Asked Susan. "He seems like on an entirely different level from you.  No offense of course."

"Still no clue." Astros responded. "I take no offense fairy girl, the words of mortals cannot harm a divine being such as myself.  Besides I am far more beautiful then he is."

"But if you had to guess, what do you think he is?" Susan was determined to try and get more information out of Astros.

"Well lets go over what we know are his abilities." Astros began to explain. "One he can create matter out of nothing. Two he is able to cause things to just disappear. Three and most serious of all, he resists all of my advances."

"I don't really think that third thing is a god power Astros." Susan said. "I think that's just because he is straight."

"I'm leaving it, no one resists me. I'm irresistible." Astros answered back.

"I resist you too." Susan smiled.

"That's only because I have not turned my charm towards you fairy girl." Astros smiled back. "Prepare to face the full might of my charms!" Astros does a sexy pose attacking Susan with all of his charms.

"Oh Astros! I think I love you! I need you!" Susan started to yell out.

"You see fairy girl, no one can resist me! My beauty knows no bounds!" Astros was getting excited.

Susans expression then turned serious.  "Just kidding. Has zero effect on me. In fact that pose, actually makes me less attracted to you.  You thought I was serious?" Susan started laughing uncontrollably.

"Fairies." Astros sighed. "Fine I suppose I will remove it from my list.  That still leaves two abilities that we know of. Powers of Creation and Powers of Destruction. I don't know of any gods that have both.  Then again Jim is the first new god, in history, so who even knows."

"Ah I was hoping you would at least guess." Susan whined. "I really want to know."

"If its that important to you there is a ritual we can perform with Jim that will let him know what kind of god he is." Astros explained. "Of course then we would need him to tell us."

"I am sure he would." Susan said. "He is always easy going." Just then they felt the carriage go in for a landing. Susan decided to look out the window and see where they were. "Oh wow what a huge city!" She exclaimed. "Looks like Chicago. Why would we go to Chicago."

"Everybody body out." Jim said as he opened the doors. "We made it to the Windy City and it looks like its still standing!"

"Why are we here Jim?" Asked Susan. "Isn't the president in California? I mean I know you said we were making a few stops, but this is the entirely different direction."

"Hearts and minds Susan." Jim said. "Hearts and Minds. If we have to win an election coming up we need to make an impact with the people.  With the east coast completely wiped out. This is one of the most populated cities left. It only makes since we would try and make a name for ourselves here before we move on."

"Makes sense." Susan said as they were walking into the city.  The city streets were quiet and there was not a soul around. From a distance a giant demon beast could be seen.  "Oh my god!" Susan exclaimed. "I think that used to be a bear. Damn its massive." She turns to Jim and Astros. "Can I take care of this one? You have been having all the fun lately."

      "Sure." Jim said.

"Certainly fairy girl, I don't want anything to do with such a filthy beast." Astros explained.

Susan took her sword in hand, this was exciting.  This was the first time she was going to be able to use the new weapon that jim had given her in real combat. "Alright you demon here I come!" Susan yelled as she sprinted towards the bear.  Her new armor made it so that she moved at lightning speeds and her sword was so powerful that it made a sonic boom as it put the bear asunder. The shockwave from the cut broke the glass in the nearby skyscrapers, raining down glass everywhere.  After the cut the bear flew apart and caught fire, but not a normal fire no, this fire was of a white color, burning brighter and hotter than any flame should. "Holy shit." Susan said to herself. "This equipment is insane. What kind of power does Jim even have?"  She turns back to Jim and Astros. "I think I got it. Coming back now".

Astros just stood there applauding Susan, "Bravo fairy girl. Very entertaining."

On the way back to Jim and Astros Susan noticed that she could see people inside the buildings, they were all staring at her.  After all they had all just witnessed a tiny woman completely obliterate a giant demon bear, that had to have stood no less than twenty feet tall.  Not only did she defeat it, she did it in an instant. Her movements were so fast they couldn't even see her move. As they saw her walk by on the way back, they decided they would come out and give her applause as well.

Susan did not know how to take all this attention and yelled the first thing that came to her mind. "I'm sorry about the buildings."

This caused the crowd to cheer louder.  They were overjoyed with their tiny savior and one of them rushed out to meet with her. "Hey! Hey girl!" The random person was yelling. "Hey are you a superhero?!"

Susan stopped in her tracks, she didn't know how to answer.  It was Jim's equipment that made her that powerful, she didn't know how to answer.  Luckily Astros was now in earshot and heard what was going on. "What's a superhero?" Astros yelled back.  Now making his way with Jim to Susan and the crowd. "No seriously what is it?"

"Someone with super powers that fights evil." The man answered back.

Astros turns to Jim, "What are super powers?"

Jim snickered to himself. "I thought you gods loved watching us mortals. How could you not know what a superhero is?"

"True but we never watched mortals when they were sitting around doing nothing. That was too boring." Astros answered.

"I'll show you some movies later, that will explain it better." Jim said to Astros. "Now lets see what fame we can get out of this crowd."

"She's not a superhero. She is a friend of the gods." Jim said as they reached Susan.

"What are you talking about, gods?" The crowd was curious.

"People of Chicago hear me." Jim spoke loud enough so that everyone could hear him.  "I come before you today to inform you that gods and demons and all sorts of other mythical creatures are real."  Jim paused for a moment so that the crowd could take in what he was saying. "My name is Jim and I have come to have you all!"  Jim looks out over the crowd. "These are my companions Astros and Susan. We hope to win your support in the coming days, for I shall be running for president."

The crowd was lost at this point, "How are you going to run for president, we have a freaking dictator now." Voices shouted from the crowd. "What makes you so high and mighty?  The woman is the one who killed the beast."

"But I.." Susan tried to explain she could only do that because of the equipment that Jim had given her but the crowd would not let her get a word out.

"What gives you the right to talk to us like that?" The crowd continues "You think your better than us?"

"ENOUGH" Jim said in a booming voice that shook the very ground on which they stood. "I am a god, I will show you some of the power which I have." Jim reached his arms up and floated into the air. While hovering he began to glow and he raised his hand to the sky.  A giant ball of energy formed in his hand and he launched a beam of pure light into the heavens, clearing the sky of any clouds. After his display Jim landed back on his feet. "We came here to help, we did not come here to argue and fight over nothing." Jim calmed down a bit.  "Do you understand now that we have the power to help you?"

The crowd was silent and then a single voice spoke up. "You could have just told us you're a god, you didn't have to go all Armageddon on us." The rest of the crowd shook their head in agreement.

"And would you have believed me?" Jim asked.

      "Probably not." The crowd answered.

"Exactly." Jim continued. "Now what has you so upset? That would cause you to start a fuss with the people who saved you from a demon beast?" Jim asked.

"The president. He took away our defenses to sure up his own and told us if we wanted to help we would need to build a wall." Another member of the crowd spoke up. "What good would a wall even do? Some of the demon beasts fly!"  More spoke from the crowd. "Without our defenses sometimes demon beasts swim over and cause havoc. We do not have the means to fight them so we just hide until the threat passes."

"Why doesn't he send help?" Jim asked.  "There are so many people who live here, why would he abandon you like this?"  Jim was beginning to notice something about the crowd. They were mostly minorities.

"They evacuated everyone that could afford it. I think Chicago was too close to the zombie border so they wanted us to pay to be relocated somewhere safer." The crowd continued. "Those of us that are left, we couldn't afford to be saved."

Jim paused for a moment, "Don't worry for now I am here." He said as he put on a big smile. "I will make sure that you are safe from the demon beasts and that you feel safe in your own homes." Jim raised his hand to the broken windows that Susan broke earlier and with a single wave they were as good as new.

"What how?" The crowd was in shock.

"I am a god remember. I got this." Jim smiled.  "My companions and I have traveled far and would like to rest, do any of you know of a good place to stay?"

A person from the crowd spoke up. "Ya you can stay in one of the fancy hotels, after all the rich people left they are pretty much empty, so I imagine you could stay there as long as you like."

"Thank you" Jim said as he left with his companions. Jim turns to Susan, "You did good."

After Jim and company left the crowd they continued to talk to each other. "Did you get it?" One voice asked. "Ya I got the whole thing on video, the bear slaying, the god stuff all of it." Another voice said. "Fantastic, we got to put this all over the internet, it might be our ticket out of here!"
