The good old days
The nightly adventure had left Suzy so exhausted that she slept like a log. The Shieldmaiden had automatic temperature control, and its internal padding was so soft that it gave the wearer the feeling of wearing fluffy cotton clothes.
To assist the wearer in falling asleep, the exosuit also had a night mode which shut off the visor's data display and simulated total darkness. Even the outside noises were blocked out by its external noise cancellation technology. However, the suit's assistant A.I. remained active at all times to safeguard against threats.
Kevin, on the other hand, stayed wide awake. His cyborg body never allowed him to feel any physical fatigue. Only his brain needed to rest from time to time. However, there were far too many things on his mind right now. He was still thinking about the call he'd received from the surface. The survivors hiding in the subway knew something, but the video recording didn't quite fill in all the details.
