Chapter 100: Headache

Seeing that Toshirou had successfully completed the basic control of the 'Sharingan,' Uchiha Shigemasa looked at Toshirou with a face full of excitement. As a teacher, he was even happier than Toshirou himself, who had just awakened his bloodline limit.

While talking, he took out a bottle of potion from his ninja tool bag and handed it to Toshirou.

"?"

Looking at the unidentified liquid in his hand, Toshirou displayed a puzzled expression. He wasn't sure what was inside the bottle, but he knew that since his teacher had given it to him, there must be a specific reason behind it.

"This is a specially developed family potion for those who have awakened the 'Sharingan'! Use it the same way you would use regular eye drops; it's quite convenient! Its function is to alleviate the fatigue and discomfort caused by prolonged use of the 'eyes.' It's a specialized medicine for maintaining the 'Sharingan.'"

The Uchiha family's medical ninjutsu development had been quite biased. Unable to compete with the Senju in medical ninjutsu, they focused heavily on pharmacology, producing some excellent secret medicines. In ophthalmology, within the entire Konoha—no, within the entire ninja world—no one could compare to the Uchiha family!

Not only did they have thorough knowledge of eye anatomy and diseases, but they also developed various eye replacement surgeries and multiple ophthalmic drugs suitable for both those who had and hadn't awakened their eyes. Shigemasa had prepared one such medicine for newly awakened Uchiha like Toshirou beforehand, which turned out to be quite handy.

"Thank you!" 

Dropping two drops into his eyes, Toshirou felt a warm sensation spread from the surface of his eyes, alleviating the fatigue from having just awakened his Sharingan. "It feels great! It's more effective than I imagined!" 

Having observed Uchiha Miho, the clan's medical ninja, Toshirou knew about such medicines. He had underestimated their effectiveness, assuming that the technology level of this world wouldn't yield good results in eye-related medicines. But the effectiveness of the first use completely overturned his previous assumptions.

[After all, this is a world with superpowers. You can't underestimate the natives here!]

Just as Toshirou was pondering his previous misconceptions, Uchiha Shigemasa spoke again. "Toshirou, you've successfully awakened the bloodline limit and activated the renowned 'Sharingan' of our clan. Moreover, you're only eight years old, and you awakened with a double tomoe in each eye!"

"Believe me, once we return to the clan, you will receive considerable attention, and the clan's resources will lean towards you!" 

In the Uchiha clan, whether one had awakened their Sharingan significantly influenced their status. Someone like Toshirou, who was an eight-year-old with such a high potential, would naturally receive more attention and resources compared to the average clan member or even other Sharingan users.

"Sensei, I have a question."

Seeing his teacher's enthusiastic attitude, Toshirou had a bad premonition and quickly asked, "Would awakening my eyes involve me in the conflicts between the clan and the village? I may be young, but I'm aware of some of these issues."

Konoha's attitude was a factor he had to consider, especially with the Third Shinobi World War about to break out. If he became a thorn in the village's side, he could be thrown into the battlefield as cannon fodder.

"This…"

Seeing his disciple ask such a question, Uchiha Shigemasa furrowed his brows, surprised at Toshirou's awareness of the discord between the clan and the village.

"Yes, a few years ago, when Miho-neechan developed the potion, I began to sense it."

He didn't deny it but rather brought Uchiha Miho into the mix to avoid seeming too mature and drawing unnecessary trouble.

"Although I've awakened the Sharingan, I'm still young! If possible, I hope to have a few more years for peaceful training. I'm too young right now to endure any hardships."

He believed that with a few more years, he could face any challenge.

"Well, that's a bit troublesome."

Originally, he had big hopes for Toshirou, thinking it would take years for him to meet his expectations. But the pleasant surprise of Toshirou awakening the Sharingan so easily made him excited. He hadn't expected the boy to be so astute, young yet aware of the clan and village tensions, and clearly displaying a non-participatory stance.

However, considering Toshirou's third branch lineage…

The Uchiha clan's situation had changed significantly since joining Konoha. Initially, the clan was divided into three major branches, based on blood relations. Over time, it transformed into factions based on their attitudes towards the Hokage's faction.

The first branch was the most dissatisfied with the Hokage faction, advocating a tough stance. The second, opposite the first, favored closer relations for the sake of peace and future, largely dwindled after the mysterious death of Uchiha Kagami. The third branch, to which Toshirou belonged, comprised mostly non-elite members with fewer awakened Sharingan and almost half of the clan's population, mainly engaged in peaceful activities and uninterested in power struggles.

Toshirou's previous statements essentially reaffirmed his alignment with his third branch status, valuing a simple and peaceful life over political schemes and battles.

With their identification reestablished, Shigemasa understood the young one's resolve, although it posed challenges for future clan politics and village relations.
