The Tribute Bride

Angel thought the world would be hers to explore when she turned twenty. She can finally be free from the gilded cage her overprotective father built for her. But she was mistaken! Her 20th birthday marked the day she lost everything, including the freedom she so desperately craved. It was the day she fell into the hands of her father's enemy, to atone for his sins. Leoric has meticulously planned his revenge for many years. When that day came, he thought he had everything under control. The man who killed his father was behind bars, and the empire he painstakingly built fell into his hands ... including his only daughter. He planned to force his new bride to entertain his friends on their wedding night. That should force her to a status lower than an escort, which should humiliate her and shame her father. That should usher her into hell. His perfect plan of revenge was ruined by a mysterious mishap. They found themselves stranded in a desert in an unfamiliar world after their yacht was sucked into a vortex. Later, they discovered that they were in a parallel universe ruled by dark forces. The only way to return is to offer a tribute to the country's supreme leader—a virgin bride! Where would they get a virgin? Wait, isn't Angel a virgin? As Leoric and his companions traveled across the treacherous landscapes of the enigmatic Astralis, he found himself falling for his wife, who seemed to have transformed after falling into the sea on their wedding night. On a starry night on top of the peak of Mount Anabu, Leoric gazed tenderly at his wife, who looked ethereal, radiated a mystical aura, and whispered... "To hell with the supreme leader and going back. You can only be mine! Let us rule Astralis!"

Wanting to Kill Her

An angry voice came from the sliding door that had just opened. "What are you doing to her? Are you trying to murder her?" The doctor rushed towards the intruder in just two strides. He quickly pulled the pillow away from the patient and delivered a punch to the intruder's chest.

"Ah!" A shrill scream came from the intruder as she fell to the ground, clutching her chest.

"How dare you hit me? You're finished." Emily lashed out at him.

The doctor was stunned. He did not expect the intruder to be a woman - not just any woman but a close relative of the yacht's owner.

"My apologies, Miss Lucas. But you are trying to murder her. I can't let you do that."

The doctor checked Angel's vitals and heaved a sigh of relief when he saw that the patient was okay.

The infirmary door opened, and a steward rushed to investigate a commotion.

"What happened?" asked the young man, who was almost as tall and had a similar body build as the doctor. "Is she okay?" he inquired upon seeing the patient lying peacefully on the bed. He was the other man who had jumped into the water to look for Angel.

"Can you watch the patient for a while? I will take Miss Lucas to the upper deck," said the doctor as he grabbed Emily's arm and led her to the door.

"Don't leave her even for just a minute." The doctor left an instruction before dragging Emily to the stairs that lead to the upper deck.

Emily struggled against the man holding her, "Let go of me, you lowlife! I'll tell my brother and father that you're bullying me!"

The doctor was silent. He climbed three more flights of stairs before arriving at the sun deck. His guess was right. The yacht's owner was on the sun deck with his friends.

"Leo, please help me. How dare this man lay his hand on me."

All five men turned their heads to the doctor, who emerged from the stairs and dragged Emily with him.

'Mister Graystone. I witnessed Miss Lucas trying to suffocate the patient with the throw pillow on the couch. If I am a minute late, then your wife should have died from suffocation." The doctor explained in one go.

Leoric's face turned frosty.

"Emily, is what the doctor said true?" Leoric asked a bit irrated.

Emily pouted. "So what if I did? Eventually, you will dump her. I am doing you a favor by doing it in advance." She said smugly.

"Emily!" Leoric roared. Emily just realized she had overdone it, and Leroric was so angry.

"Doctor, I will take it from here. Just take care of the patient."

The doctor was about to leave when Winston stopped him. Winston has helped Leoric with the yacht's crew and is familiar with the people under him.

"What is your name? You are not the original doctor for this trip, aren't you?" The young playboy scrutinized the doctor.

"I am Doctor Gavin Reeves, reliever for Doctor Mayer as he is recuperating from a sickness." Doctor Reeves spoke slowly and clearly.

"Alright, you can go!" Winston raised his hand to let him go. "You girls, you also go!"

The women lazing around got out of the pool and hurriedly left.

Leoric was trying to keep his cool, but it was obvious he was very angry. "Now, it's just us, Emily. Tell me, why are you trying to murder Angel?"

"Didn't you say that you will eventually dump her?" Emily was still pouting, like an aggrieved child accused of doing a mortal sin.

"Emily, you have gone too far this time. As a consequence, you are grounded for two days."

"I am not a child anymore, Leoric, and you are not my father or my older brother, so you don't have any right to discipline me."

"Emily, you are becoming unruly."

"Yes! I am willful and unruly. It is all because of you. Why do you have to marry her? You know that I have loved you for a long time. I had even suffered Dad's wrath, so you can be my fiance," Emily shouted and kept on pointing fingers at Leoric.

Leoric's temple throbbed. If only he could; he wanted to push the spoiled princess into the pool to taste her medicine.

"Emily, what you did is still wrong, and you will be punished." Leoric changed his tactic and used a softer approach.

"I knew it was wrong. But I'll do it again if I have the opportunity."

"I'll send you to your cabin. You will not go out until Angel recovers." Leoric declared.

"Leo, can I stay in your cabin instead? I will be very obedient." Emily spoke in a coquettish voice. Leoric's friends felt that the hair on their arms stood on their end.

Leoric did not answer. He led Emily to his cabin.

"There is a steward outside. If you need anything, just instruct him, and he will give it to you."

Leoric was about to get out and close the door when Emily ran to him and hugged him from the back.

"Leo, what if what I want is you? I want to sleep with you." Emily shamelessly said.

Leoric wanted to flare up, but he still controlled his emotions.

"Emily, we have discussed this so many times before." Leoric's voice was gentle as he tried to appease Emily.

"Emily, be good. I will come back later to check on you." Leoric hurriedly left.

Emily's eyes glinted. Leo had promised her he would come, and she should be ready.

Leoric did not return to the upper deck but went to the infirmary. He did not knock on the door but opened it directly. He found a steward sitting in the doctor's chair, looking intently at the woman on the bed.

Leoric's eyes narrowed. "What are you doing here? Where is Doctor Reeves?"

The young steward seemed not intimated by the oppressive aura radiating from Leoric.

"Doctor Reeves is resting in his room. He told me to watch over the patient because an intruder wanted to murder her, so I am watching over her." The young man said casually.

Leoric glanced at him. "You can go now! I'll watch over her."

"How should I know that you will not harm her?" The steward asked innocently.

"She is my wife. Why should I harm her?"

"But didn't she commit suicide because of you? You might scare her when she wakes up, and you are the first one she sees."

Leoric temples throbbed. He had an angry scowl on his forehead.

"G E T O U T!" He said slowly, and the young steward felt his body shiver subconsciously. Despite that, he strode out of the door in a dignified manner.
