Ortson returned home after the day's work.
'Let's freshen up first.'
A good shower with cold water during a hot day cooled down his body and mind.
Ortson opens the closed window in the room so that cool wind from outside can enter the room.
Ortson sits on the chair and lights up the candle on the desk with 1st tier magic flame.
Ortson opens the book 'Spell Models for mage apprentice' which he borrowed from the library.
This book contains the spell model and magic spells from tier 1 to tier 3 circles.
On the first page of the book it reads.
"So let's talk about magic. We can dicker on the exact rules if you like. There are all sorts of Grimoires and Cryptonomicons. I've got an AD&D manual somewhere. At the core, though…. Magic is taking a thought and making it real. Taking a lie and making it the truth. Telling a story to the universe so utterly, cosmically perfect that for a single, shining moment… the world believes a man can fly."
These are four of the fundamental laws of magic.
*Magic can emulate all states of matter, gaseous, liquid, and solid.
*Magic can stimulate all states of matter.
*Magic stops emulating different states of matter when the caster stops supplying mana.
*Magic is not omnipotent, Knowledge is.
'Let's practice.'
"Light up my surrounding, fire."
"Let it flow to quench thy thirst, water."
"Let the breeze sweep up all your woes, wind."
" It can roll and be steady with the patience of eternity, Stone."
These are the four basic 1st circle magic.
'If cast a spell by chanting, I might get the 8th-grade syndrome, all over again. I am not doing it.'
Now let's try the way of logic.
Ortson tries to create a magic model using circles and equations.
Circle to vibrate the molecules to start the fire, and an equilateral triangle to emulate the particles of the universe. the equation for fuel to performance ratio, and viola fire starts.
Surprisingly Ortson was able to create the model in a snap.
'For beginners, it is a little troublesome, but with enough practice, it can be mitigated.'
Spells can only result in a fixed outcome because mystic rune script is a very hard language to learn, that's why for thousands of years same magic spells are memorized or doted down on grimoires again and again with no revision. Very few learned and researched the mystic rune script in depth.
Whereas the magic model consists of constants and variables. which means, one magic circle can have various degrees of outcome by just changing the variable in the model.
'My fast spell-casting ability may be due to my proficiency in math which I cultivated in my previous life. Oh, this dreaded subject of many students saved me in another world. My all hard work was not in vain.'
That night Ortson kept crating spell models and casting spells until all his mana was drained from his body.
To Ortson, it was like he got a new toy, which he can't wait to start playing with.
When Ortson was running low on mana after casting all the spells, he fell down on his bed, his eyes became heavy due to exhaustion from all day's work, and on top of it mana exhaustion hit him at the same time, he slept on his bed and dreamt of old times when he was small with unrealistic dreams in eyes.
Ortson does not know why he dreamt of that time, but it was still a sweet dream, which he will forget as the day comes like all others who dream.
