I quickly cast heal on all the kids and counted how many there were.
' 1, 2 ... 9' There are 9 kids all wearing rags some worse than others it looks like the ages vary with the brave one being the oldest. They all look at me and bow in front of me.
"please kill us We are nothing more than dirt not even our people want us," the brave one says while looking at the ground choking up trying not to cry.
I reach down and pick her up and look her in her eyes and shake my head no. I then put her on my shoulder and I turn around and start to walk into the forest and the rest of the kids follow. I need to figure out what to do with them, I'm thinking about going deeper into the forest and making a compound for me and everyone to live in so we can get sunlight instead of being underground in a cramped space. First I'm gonna head back to the tunnel so I can drop the kids off and see if Zach's back yet.
The way to the spot was wonderfully peaceful probably because this is the start of the forest and nothing's dumb enough to attack me. Once I make it back to the spot I open the ground revealing a staircase leading into a lit tunnel. The kids gasp and look at me and then down the hole. As they gawk I make my way down the stairs and motion my hand for them to follow. They slowly make their way down the stairs making sure they don't fall.
As they make their way down the stairs I take the brave one off my shoulder and set her on the ground so she doesn't hit the head on the ceiling. We then made our way down to where I had been staying and I went next to the practice area and made a big room with 9 beds all made out of soft moss for all 9 kids and pointed into the room and the kids all ran into the room and jumped on the beds with huge smiles like it was their first time seeing a bed.
I turn to leave them in the room and Zach is standing outside the room with a few crates, I'm guessing it's full of clothes and armor. Which is great I'll be able to send out the mini-me's to start learning about the area and everything going on around and I'll get to test their efficiency.
I look at Zach and say "Good...job...watch them" As I point to the kid's room 'I'm getting better at talking' I think to myself. He nods his head and stands outside their room and I grab the crates and carry them to the dolls. When I get to the dolls I open the crates and I go through them to find the most suited clothes and armor for them. 001 the first got a full set of knightly-looking armor so he doesn't need a cloak or mask since he has a helmet but I'm still gonna give him one for the cool factor, for the weapon I chose and made a scythe, I made it out of the hardest wood I could conjure and made the blade as sharp and as dense as possible and a knife on his waist for emergencies. Now I know a scythe isn't the most practical weapon but when I was human I always wanted to use one and their just so freaking cool.
Now for the bigger one, let's call him 002. He got some more basic clothes to cover up with a metal chest plate, gauntlets, and a helmet. He has a metal great shield and a one-handed greatsword for his weapons, so he'll hit harder than any, but he'll also be the slowest one. Next the skinny one, modeled after a thief his name is 003, he gets the basic clothes to cover up and the armor is all light leather so he can move quicker. For the face, I gave him a face mask and a cloak so he could try and cover up as much as possible. I gave him the metal daggers for the weapons, a true thief's weapon. Now the mage can you guess what imma call him 004, he's got the same clothes and armor as the thief so he can also move faster and get out of the way if need be. His weapon is magic but he has a wooden staff with a green magic gem on the end of it and a knife on his waist as well.
So now I've got a fully normal-looking adventurer squad besides the scythe but still cool. I think it's time to send them to the surface and start learning about this place.
Thank you all for reading this far and getting through the first chapters, I'm going to try and work harder to make higher quality chapters for you all to enjoy.
