Chapter 5: Testing Limits

A/N: The first contests winner is Juhiko.

Now for today insert a GIF of Miles Morales/Spider-Man Here.

--------------------------------------------------------

Using my hands I wiped away my tears.

I then took a moment to collect myself.

Then after I did I focused on all I had just learned from what was basically, and quite possibly, my father's last will and testament.

Namely the fact he had connections with SHIELD.

Which makes me wonder, did he work for them as an agent like in the mainstream comics? Or was he simply a scientist who was associated with them?

These and other questions about my father at the forefront of my mind I tried to recall anything related to the matter of SHIELD from my new memories, and my fathers connection to them.

Only to come up empty.

I can't remember a single time from my new memories where Richard mentioned SHIELD or even hinted he was associated with them in any way.

Seeing that lead was a dead end I stopped following it.

I then decided to check out what else was on the computer besides the video file. Hoping it might contain some answers to my questions.

Only to come up empty there too in regards to the Richard Parker/SHIELD connection.

Though I did find something else.

I found the data, and details on the process, my father used to combine his own DNA with that of the spiders he created as Oscorp. Now with this I can potentially break the genetic lock placed on the spiders, and make it so anyone who is bitten by them can gain Spider powers.

Nice.

Though of course I am not going to do that.

Oh no.

Since that would just be stupid.

But in the future, who knows?

After finding this I continued looking through the computer for information, only to find nothing else of relevance.

So with that I shut the computer down.

I then got up and began searching the rest of the train car lab. Seeing if I could find any more clues or useful information.

Only again to come up empty.

So with that I decided to tidy up a bit, and then when that was completed I started making my way home.

Having just taken two steps forward, but three steps back as far as I'm concerned.

----------------------------------------------

[October 23rd, 2010]

Standing inside the same abandoned warehouse by the docks Peter skateboarded in in the films, I stood in front of a makeshift obstacle course I put together.

Because today is the day I test the current limits of my spider powers.

Which I haven't a chance to do.

Since I've been busy.

Integrating into Peter's life, enjoying my time with my friends at school, which now include Gwen, and working to turn the hidden Roosevelt Training Station into a proper secret base.

A base which I have chosen to now call the Spider's Den.

So yeah.

Though today it's all about the powers my people.

Taking a deep breathe I then exhaled it. "Okay. Show time." I said to myself.

I then began testing my powers.

First up, speed.

A stop-watch in my hands I took off from one end of the abandoned warehouse to the other.

Then as soon as I reached the other side I clicked it. I then looked at the watch, finding I ran the distance in only 10 seconds. Once I did I then ran a few more times, before organizing all the data I had collected on my speed into a mental table. I then did some quick calculations in my head with regards to that speed table and discovered I could currently run as high as 250 mph.

Once I learned this I moved onto the next ability test.

Strength.

Going over to an old, and rusted. rather large boat propeller I took hold of it and began trying to lift it. Finding myself easily able to do so. Thus I continued lifting objects around the warehouse until I found my current limit. Which was 10 tons.

Though I do wonder if that will increase if I find some way to actually get in a good workout?

Food for thought.

It is also a matter I will investigate later.

After finding the current limits of my strength I then stepped back in front of the makeshift obstacle course. For I would be using it to test several of my abilities.

Taking off from a runners position I leapt toward three steel barrels, which I had stacked on top of each, and landed on top of them.

Perfectly in the center.

Though after I landed on top of them they began wobbling, me knowing they were getting ready to fall over.

But that didn't scare me.

Since just before the barrels fell I jumped off them, did a flip through the air, and then landed hands first right atop a balance beam.

Then once I landed on the beam I removed my left hand from it, and then just held myself in place.

An action I continued for ten uninterrupted minutes.

Which didn't leave me tired or fatigued in the slightest.

So that means I can check super leaping, agility, reflexes, stamina, and equilibrium off the power testing list.

Once I did this in my head I used my hand on the beam to launch myself into the air.

Where I then changed the position of my body, while in the air, and landed on the beam feet first.

After which I flipped forward until I reached the end of the beam and took off for a low-hanging metal bar I had set it up in front of.

Catching the bar with ease I pulled myself up, and then began climbing until I reached the very top, until eventually I was on a catwalk.

Running across the catwalk I reached the other end and then jumped up toward the rafters.

Easily reaching them, and then easily sticking to them.

All thanks to my wallcrawling ability.

Which I used to easily climb back down to the floor of the warehouse.

Feeling good.

Since from what I can tell all my Spider powers are functioning normally.

With that questioned now solved in my mind I ran around the warehouse and practiced using the powers that I could for a few more hours before heading home.

After which I showered, had dinner with May and Ben, and then headed up to my room.

So I could finish completing the formula for my web fluid.

My feet atop my desk I worked in my personal notebook, and finished the formula. Knowing without a doubt it would create Spider-Man's signature web fluid.

Once that was completed I flipped to the next page in the book and did a bit more detail work on my web shooter designs, which are going to be the ones from the Amazing Spider-Man films.

When I felt I had worked on their designs long enough I simply turned my attention to the next page over in the notebook. Which featured my first great challenge since coming to this world.

My costume design.

Given how many different Spider-Man costume designs there are picking one to create is harder than you think. Not to mention I'm still not sure if I want to add my own spin on the costume or not. Really, about the only thing I've decided in regards to the thing is the color scheme. Which just like the Superior Spider-Mans suits is going to be red and black.

Two of my favorite colors by the way.

As I wrote down more details and ideas for my costume design I couldn't help but release a bit of a frustrated sigh. Since designing a costume should not be this hard.

'I wonder if other heroes feel like this when designing their own costumes?' I thought.

Making sure to ask other heroes I meet in the future that question.

When my brain had had enough of taking the clothing designer route I stopped working on my costume design.

I then flipped to the next page in my notebook.

Which contained my first project unrelated to Spider-Man that I have begun working on.

That being re-creating the Medi-gel from the Mass Effect game series.

Since it doesn't exist here.

But apparently both Halo and Warhammer 40K game series do.

Though back to my main point.

You might ask yourself why am I trying to re-create this?

Well I think the answer to that should be obvious.

Money.

For if I succeed in this endeavor then I will have created a Hydrogel currently better than anything out there on the market. Which will allow me to rake in the cash.

Though of course even if I do succeed I'm still going to have to look for some sort of intermediary or middle man.

Because even if I re-create the formulae for the Mass Effect Medi-Gel and patent it, I have no way to actually produce it. Then even if I did I highly doubt anyone would purchase it. Due the fact I have no credentials in the slightest.

No college degree, no allies in either the scientific or business communities, nothing.

I'm currently still just some no name kid.

That's why I'll need some sort of partner.

For now that is.

I continued working on the Medi-Gel formula for a bit longer before I decided to stop there for the night. So I closed my notebook and then slipped it back into my backpack.

After I did I got into my computer and started looking for companies, and or individuals, that might sponsor me in regards to Medi-gel, or any other future projects I would create.

At least until I'm able to start my own company.

Which I do plan on doing in the future.

This world better get ready for its own version of Parker Industries.

As I scanned the web I discovered that the F4 would give out grant money to prominent young scientist, if their projects caught there interest.

I also learned the same thing was true for the damn Hardy Foundation.

Yes, you heard me right. The Hardy Foundation.

An organization that only existed in the 1994 Spider-Man series.

Arguably one of the best Spider-Man series in my opinion. Though I honestly can't decide between that and the Spectacular Spider-Man series to be placed as number one among the Spider-Man cartoons. Even though the latter only had one season.

(A/N: Which one do you guys think is the best?)

But back to my point.

The Hardy foundation exists here.

Which means if that's the case...

Clicking on the link to the foundations main website I then moved through it until I found the public personnel directory.

Where I found what I was looking for.

An image of the Foundations leader.

Which is a woman named Anastasia Hardy.

Who looks exactly like the actress Kate Winslet from my previous life.

Moving my mouse using my cursor I clicked on her image.

Where I was taken to her personal page on the website. Which featured multiple photos of her at multiple events. Right alongside her only child and daughter.

One Felicia Hardy.

Who looks exactly like the actress Katherine NcNamara from my previous life.

[Insert Image of Felicia Hardy/Black Here]

As I looked at the images of the mother/daughter Hardy pair I couldn't help but be amazed. Since I just found out the Black Cat is a thing in this world.

'This new life just keeps getting more interesting by the day.' I thought.

I then re-focused on what I had first set out to do. Since right now neither the likely future Black Cat, nor her mother are any of my concern.

So returning to the task at hand I continued searching the web, until finally I settled on sending in grant applications to both the F4 and the Hardy Foundation when I finished working on the Medi-gel formula. For they were the most reputable sponsors I could find, and felt safe enough to work with.

No one else panning out.

Besides, it wouldn't hurt to make connections with either of those two groups.

All my work done I shut down my computer then turned in for the night.

Since after all I had done today I was finally tired enough to want to get some good rest.
