An Emergency

Josh looked around and saw many people were starting to look interested in his direction now. And he didn't like it at all.

"Hey, calm down." He said, hoping to be reasonable with the staff. "Have you confirmed it again? I have my stuff in the room."

"Security! Send help right now. This man is a thief. You think you can waste my time here, young man?" The lady screamed out, making her voice loud on purpose.

Josh was irritated by her dramatic response. He didn't even like the way she had stared at him upon her first glance. And she even looked younger than him, yet she called him 'young man'?

A lady came walking and noticed the commotion. She quickly hurried towards their side. Unknowingly to Josh and the staff, no one knew the identity of the lady.

"Hey, what's going on here?" She approached them, her voice sounding so sonorous.

Josh was furious at the time but the lady's soft voice calmed him almost instantly. She was gorgeous with her long brown hair dangling freely on her shoulders. Her big brown eyes were beautiful and the elegance she possessed just attracted her over to Josh.

He would be more than eager to speak with someone like her. He lamented his worries to her at once.

"This lady here is so wrong to quickly call me names like being a thief when she has no full understanding of the situation yet. I would love to head back to my room but there's been a mistake with my name not being on the list." He explained but was immediately cut off by the lady.

She saw that the lady wore a casual knee length dress and quickly guessed her outfit was not expensive enough.

"And who are you supposed to be? Why will you be nosey in matters that doesn't concern you?" The attendant said rudely to the lady.

"Are you being serious? You don't even know who I am and you're speaking like that to me?" The lady said strictly.

"Oh what is this? Is this poor man your husband? Is that why you can speak to me like this? I am Tania, a very important staff member in this hotel. In fact, I will soon be the manager so you will respect me." Tania said.

"I see you're the new staff who had her way by going out on several dates with George Martins." The lady said, raising a brow as she shook her head in detest.

Tania instantly blushed. If this lady knew Mr. George and she called his name so direct, maybe she was secretly rich? Tania cleared her throat.

"Please introduce yourself to me. But let's do that privately. Let me just deal with this man over here." Tania said, trying to sound a little nicer since she wouldn't want to get fired.

"No, you will leave that seat for someone who knows a little about customer service. But first, before you're fired, I will hear this gentleman out and you will solve this situation." The lady said.

Tania's eyes widened. "Fired? You can't just fire me! Who are you anyway?"

"I just want to head back to my room. Can we settle this quickly?" Josh interrupted, making the urgency in his tone heard.

"Oh sorry about this, Mr..." The lady said, waiting for an introduction.

"Josh Brooks."

"I'm Mindy Anderson. The new owner of this hotel. And I would love to correct this misunderstanding." Mindy said with a smile.

Tania refused to believe. "You're lying. Both of you are liars!"

"Before I fire you, I will first show you your mistake and demand apologies for your rude behavior." Mindy said firmly to Tania.

Josh admired how she carried herself. She wasn't impulsive or noisy, but calm and smart. He respected people like that.

"But ma'am! I mean--you can't fire me! Mr. George--"

"--just because you were lucky to get hired just last week, doesn't give you the opportunity to treat customers rudly. Now, shut up and learn your mistake before you'll be dismissed." Mindy shut her up.

"Mr. Josh? Did you perhaps check in without your own name? Perhaps a third party?" Mindy turned to ask Josh.

"Oh that's right. But I thought she would register in my own name. This is a mistake from me." Josh quickly admitted. When the Sanchez sisters helped secure the room, he didn't think they would use their own identities.

"Are you a friend of the Sanchez? I received a call earlier that an important guest resided in my hotel." Mindy asked.

"The Sanchez...!" Tania barked out in shock. She had been rude to a Sanchez friend?? Instantly, she fell on her knees. "Please sir, forgive me! Please ma'am, forgive me! I'm sorry, I can't lose this job! I only just started working here!"

People around were already taking pictures of the scene and recording too.

"You're fired, miss. And by the look of things, I fear your reputation has been ruined already. You brought this on yourself." Mindy said.

"But...I didn't mean to! Please ma'am!" Tania continued to apologize but Mindy had walked away, inviting Josh with her.

She had checked for the room number and gotten his room card. "Would you mind me escorting you to your room?" She asked.

"No, it's okay. I'm fine now." Josh said.

"We will be sure to compensate you for this misunderstanding." Mindy promised as Josh got into the elevator.

The room was marvelous with a giant bed in the master bedroom and fine decors that were magnificent and colorful. The living room was wide and spacious with lovely furniture. A giant flat screen was in the center of the room. Its aura was warm and inviting too.

Josh crashed on the bed first, sighing deeply at the terrific day he'd just experienced. Then he took a shower and got changed. There was a knock on the door with various kinds of food and drinks.

"On the house, sir." The person had said as he delivered the tray of sumptuous meals. Josh ate what he could and soon was satisfied with a heavy belly.

The next morning was the same as well. They had delivered his breakfast, and it looked even more grand than his dinner. He changed into a simple jeans and casual shirt and was having a mug of coffee when there was a knock on the door.

It turned out to be Mindy, standing gracefully by the entrance.

Josh smiled awkwardly as he had not been expecting her but he quickly noticed the worry in her eyes.

"What is it?" He asked.

"It's an emergency call from the Sanchez sisters. They said they've been trying to reach you." She announced. "You're needed at the hospital, and fast!"
